One can be spoilt for choice for restaurants in Stellenbosch, but this small bistro ticks all the boxes. Good selection of food, great service. Tables inside or outside. Probably less expensive than some of the bigger establishments.

Small but perfectly formed, we enjoyed a lovely lunch on the cosy outdoor terrace. The Asian noodle dish and “Lazy Roberto” were both great, alongside an excellent local wine. Very good coffee and people watching on a busy tourist street added to the ambience.

Cosy little bistro situated in Church street, Stellenbosch. We had home made burgers. Tasty. A great Shiraz by Myburgh and Miller for R80.00 was excellent.

One of the best breakfasts/brunches we have ever had. We shared The Bomb and scrambled eggs with avo along with a side of mushrooms and rye toast. Great coffee and the dinner menu looked lovely too.

Basic Bistro offers such a nice variety so satisfy everyone’s taste buds. The beef burger with mushroom sauce was delicious, medium-rare. The steak was not a good cut and therefore the meat was not nice. The Cape Malay curry was also good. Service is good....More

Went to Basic Bistro for lunch with a friend. The Boksom Bende burger was delicious! Egyptian dukkah pasta is also recommendable. Staff were friendly and helpful. Not an uptight restaurant, more of a relaxed café vibe. The wine list is impressive and well-curated for such...More

Description
Basic Bistro is cosy restaurant right in the heart of Stellenbosch. We have been making locals and strangers feel at home for many years, with a dedicated focus on using quality ingredients to prepare all meals while setting a comfortable and intimate atmosphere for our guests. We focus on creating Gourmet Burgers, Bountiful Pasta Dishes, Flavoursome Lamb Curry, Matured Steak and Espresso Based Coffees of International Standard. We also pride ourselves in a finely selected and intimate wine list that ranges from 'Easy Drinking' to 'Connoisseur Wines'. Cool down with a White Wine Cocktail, Iced Coffee or Real Fruit Pulp Milkshake topped with whipped cream. Or perhaps calm down with a pot of High Mountain Tea, produced by the tea experts at Nigiro. Have a romantic evening in the corner or invite your friends for a Burger and Craft beer - whatever you do, we hope to make you feel right at home.
