Our group of 4 had lunch at this historic property dating back to 1902 - the setting is truly unique among century old trees - the service is excellent and the food outstanding - one would expect the restaurant to be pricy, however just the...opposite is true - a well reserved environment that deserve the full-house we experienced.More

Wife had the pork belly which was cooked to perfection, unfortunately the cracking was soft and tasted like cardboard which led us to suspect it was out of packet. I had the rack of lamb, normally my favourite dish, however it had a strange taste...that was not pleasing on my palate. I did not eat it and ordered the Boboti, it was nice but not up to the Cape’s high Boboti standards. Hat’s off to the Manager, we were not charged for the lamb. Ambiance: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Food : 5/10More

Fabulous restaurant in the heart of Stellenbosch town. Beautifully renovated house with a garden and outdoor seating areas. Perfect for an event or intimate dining. Great menu with good portions and attentive service. Shall definitely recommend.

What a lucky shot! Spending just a couple of nights in Stellenbosch, we picked this restaurant for our last dinner before leaving the area. If we ever return to Stellenbosch, we will certainly plan another visit to De Volkskombuis. Kids had a pizza, service was...very friendly, starters (venison carpaccio and seared tuna) were very good, but the main course was exceptional......smoked pork belly for me and boboti for my wife. This is the best smoked pork belly I've ever had: juicy meat full of flavor, mashed potatoes and some exotic vegetables.More

De Volkskombuis is a superb restaurant offering good wholesome cooking, well plated food which is most definitely pleasing to the taste! Everton, our waitron was very efficient and really went the extra mile to accommodate us. One has the choice of sitting in a lovely...outdoor section, surrounded by a beautiful garden setting or indoors. With the scorching heat we opted for indoors for a cooler environment under the airconditioning. The restaurant is very stylishly decorated. We were a group of six and each dish ordered varied from the delicious typical chicken pie to the tender and very flavoursome Rack of lamb. One has to end the meal with the Peppermint Crisp cheesecake!More

Not a great variety of options if you are a vegetarian and gluten intollerant. Was VERY dissapointed in the salad that I ordered. Very small portion size and TOTALLY overpriced.

Had a decadent breakfast here and would definitely recommend it. Staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food was very good and well worth it. Will definitely come back for lunch/dinner. Excellent all round.

Hello! Sorry, I only saw this now. I think main courses were about R180 each? If I recall correctly, two-course lunch for two with wine, sparkling water and coffee was something like R600.
