Dropped in for lunch and was glad to have done so. Very welcoming and the service was efficient. Happily adapted the menu to cater for my simple but strict dietary requirements. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal even though the weather wasn't very good so we had...to sit inside as opposed to on the deck with the lovely view of the mountains.More

I took my parents for a celebratory buffet breakfast yesterday morning at Raphael's. Thank you so much to the chef, and Tasneem and her team for the five star service and excellent food! The staff went out of their way to make us feel special...and welcome. Views are unparalleled, and the food was world class (excellent selection on the buffet - you will not leave hungry!). Beautiful decor and a peaceful setting. We can't wait to visit again!More

This restaurant has had a much needed recent revamp. I am specifically talking about the outdoor restaurant. The service was very good and the food was faultless. They have a lovely well balanced menu for most tastes. I enjoyed a wonderful pizza, the kind I...love with a very thin base and ample tasty topping. This is definetly not a burger joint although they do have a burger on the menu. This is a very well appointed restaurant at reasonable prices, served with fabulous Asara wines. There is obviously a full bar that boasts particularly of their 270 range of gins from all around the world, amongst other wonderful local and international spirits. The view from the veranda alone are just worth a visit, so bring your camera. My one and only complaint was that the waiters, when not attending tables, would huddle on one side and talk fairly loudly amongst themselves. This is merely a slight lack of training, so not entirely their fault.More

During our too short stay at Asara Wine Estate we had the pleasure of experiencing Raphael's restaurant on our last evening there. Staff are friendly, attentive and have an excellent knowledge of the foods offered on the menu. The lovely wine form the Estate was...decanted into an amazing decanter and tasted extra special in this presentation. We decided on the quail starter for myself and beef tartare for my wife. The presentation was above expectation. Both starters looked tasty and definitely delivered too. Excellent! Mains were the Springbok for my wife and I had the amazing hog belly. Once more both dishes looked stunning and tasted fantastic. But the taste of the Springbok will definitely have me back for more. It was as amazing if not a little more than the hog belly. Wish we could have stayed longer to try the rest of the menu. I just couldn't manage desserts, but had a taste of the wife's Classic Brulée: What a delight. Looked appetising and definitely tasted heavenly! Complements to the chef and thank you to the friendly staff! Great ambience. Breakfast was another gastronomic experience with enough choice to satisfy any palate. Multitude of cereal, yoghurt, fruit etc. Poached eggs were done perfectly! Hope to be back soon for a proper non- working holiday!More

We ate dinner here during our stay at Asara. Staff were extremely attentive, helpful and considerate. The restaurant was very elegant and had a lovely ambience. They deliberately have a simple menu, but this ensures the food was to gourmet standards, as the springbok that...I ordered was divine and cooked to perfection. The accompanying wines were delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.More

Perfect setting. Sat outside with a gorgeous view of the mountains. Breakfast buffet had a wide variety of cold foods and was well presented. The only downside was that the waiters were rushing us even though the restaurant was not full and we had a...booking. They took our hot order immediately on our arrival which meant that our food got cold while we were having cereal etc. The waiter also brought our bill without prompt before we had finished our coffee. We drove a long way to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and felt totally rushed. I have been here a few times and this was the first time I experienced this so I will just put it down to a once off experience.More

We are regulars to Asara Hotel as we live down the road . We celebrated a special annviversary and decided on dinner at Raphaels. The liver and chicken dishes servings were tiny--- I call it pictures on plates. Very disappointing-- won't be visiting again as...there are many other choices in the area!More

After two previous visits in 2013 and 2014 we were disappointed by the service, untrained waiters and terrible food. The main courses could hardly be found on the plates and were below average. We had to pour our own wine and did not get a...water refill. After we waited for 20 minutes for our dessert we left without it. Sorry to see such a nice location loose its magic. I cannot recommend it.More

Food was very good and there was an excellent choice of wine , staff were friendly and efficient......the problem was that we had to wait over a hour between the starter and main course ! This put a real damper on the evening ! We...were told it was due to problems in the kitchen ! We found out the next day this was a common problem, which is a shame as the restaurant has the potential to be excellentMore
