My late husband and I visited the farm seven years ago and enjoyed a splendid afternoon tea. Visiting South Africa again I thought a good gesture to visit for a trip down memory lane. I rang in advance and booked an afternoon tea. Upon arrival...on the Sunday, they said I booked for a “tea” not a high tea. So very disappointed and upset. The manager said they call it a high tea and when I said afternoon tea, he reserved a table. So be aware, you need to ask for a high tea. He also mentioned I would have had to pay and received an email confirmation. Did I know it, no! Did he ask me to clarify at the point of booking, no. We stayed for a cup of tea and scones. The jam is a bit sweet. The rooibos tea with a shot of ginger was nice. To avoid disappointed clarify what you want to book. It is a high tea if you want the three tier cake stand!More

The food is great and the views spectacular. We were waiting for very long time to be served. Do not appreciate the attitude of the waiter.

Visited for coffee and to sample their ‘ Devonshire scones’ and clotted cream, particularly the latter. As originally heralding from Devon I was particularly looking forward to the clotted cream which is supplied by Jenny’s Dairy and has been spectacular on previous occasions when I...have had it ( Mount Nelson Hotel and purchased from Boschendal estate who are sadly no longer stocking it). On this occasion, I was sadly disappointed. Rather than automatically serving the clotted cream in a bowl, Devonshire style, I was served a microscopic amount in a shallow dish which was hardly sufficient for one scone, let alone the two which were provided. The scones were delicious however and would have been more so if sufficient clotted cream had been provided. Will I return? yes, but I would never order this insult to Devonshire cuisine againMore

We have been visiting and loving this special little gem even before it took on the shape it is now! In the days when there were only 4 or 5 tables. We have brought overseas visitors and enjoyed countless delicious meals while taking in the...superb Stellenbosch scenery of mountains and vineyards. Food quality has remained excellent and there are many healthy choices on the menu. Their scones, farm produced jam and cream can’t be bettered 😋More

Four of us visited Hillcrest Berry Farm and sat outside to enjoy the magnificent view of the mountains. The menu is small but we all ordered the bobotie dish for lunch, which is a traditional South African dish. The bobotie is by far the best...we have ever eaten in a restaurant: the curry is spicy but mild, accompanied by a berry chutney, roasted coconut and a sambal. I can highly recommend this dish if you enjoy curry dishes.More

Bought lots of fruit and other goodies from the farm stall and decided that we needed coffee and ice creams. Lovely vista to look over, relaxed and laid back. Fruits were delicious and well priced. The best place to buy.

15 years in resort management has tought me your best review is only as good as your weakest staff member. In this case, it was the breakfast shift manager, a gentle man who should know that his hat and attitude are both inappropriate for his...position. I commend his wait staff, who chose to put the guest ahead of his ill decision making skills. As for the breakfast menu, the farmers breakfast with a serving of potato, mushrooms and cheese made it to the top of the list for all 10 family members. The coffee brand is probably one of the best brands I have had in a while, the varieties of jams and jellies almost makes you ferl like jam heaven - a patronage to the wealth of the western cape fruitful soil. If you are open to an adventurous breakfast, the wafel with avo mouse, tomato and bacon hit many of the blocks on my score card. The lemonade needs some serious work, but the yougurt based berry smoothies are a great hit for the health conscious.More

What a spoil! What a treat! An amazing setting with comfy beanbags, large blankets and generous umbrellas to protect us from a scorcher of a day. Enjoyed a relaxing day on the lawn , shoes off and soaking in the ambiance. Fabulous, generous food served...by our friendly waiter, Billy. Absolutely perfect way to spend Christmas Day with our family and friends. Email communication with Misha to as spot on. Grateful 🙏🏻 thanks for an amazing special occasion!More

Tucked away off the R310 near Kylemore Village outside Stellenbosch, Hillcrest Orchards' restaurant is the perfect place to relax on a weekend drive in the winelands. We went to buy berry plants and decided to stay for lunch. Don't be fooled by the rather dated...decor and tired terrace furniture. The staff are friendly and energetic in their willingness to please, and the food unpretentious but well-prepared with innovative berry-inspirations. I was encouraged by the waitress asking how my beef burger should be done and it did not disappoint with a perfectly grilled patty, freshly baked bun, raspberry-caramelised onions and all the trimmings. The battered lightly-fried onion rings and potato wedges were too perfect to share. My wife's savoury hazelnut waffle inspired her tastebuds and resulted in a perfectly clean plate. This is a good spot to get away from the must-be-seen crowds in the latest glass emporiums that are springing up all over the winelands.More

We always look forward to our visits to Hillcrest. The views are stunning & food is usually outstanding. This time our party enjoyed the delicious Quince tart, Carrot cake, & blueberry pancakes. Unfortunately the two slices of cheesecake ordered were very disappointing. The slices very...half the size as before & the cheesecake had an unpleasant texture. The only thing that did not disappoint, was the cherry coulis. Will not be having this again as at the price of R74 per unpleasant slice, it was definitely not worth it.More

The food is always delicious with excellent service and phenomenal views! We went for a birthday, where they treated us to a cheesecake and the birthday girl got a little present of some jams. The food is delicious, and you simply can’t go to Hillcrest...Berry Orchard without trying some scones 😁More
