A trip to South Africa's Cape Winelands is not complete without a visit to Giovanni's at Eikendal. Since introducing my fiancé to Giovanni's at Eikendal two years ago, it has been our favourite restaurant in South Africa. So when we were deciding where to go for our two year anniversary, the answer was obvious: Giovanni's. And what a marvelous evening it turned out to be. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a warm, inviting atmosphere, complemented by the soft, ambient lighting of the garden lights hanging from the trees. The outside seating area strikes a fine balance between rustic and elegance, making it an ideal setting for both romantic dinners and casual gatherings. As always, the food was excellent! Delicious flavours that fill up your senses and make you feel like you're transported to Italy, yet paired so well with the taste of home from our locally produced Eikendal wines. Not to forget the dessert! Their mouthwatering tiramisu will always be my personal favourite. The service was impeccable. Their staff were attentive without being intrusive, knowledgeable about the menu, and throughout the evening they made us feel extra special. I would highly recommend Giovanni's at Eikendal to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience.
A big thank you to Warren and the staff at Giovanni's at Eikendal for making our two year anniversary such a special occasion.

Relaxed beer or vineyard feeling.
Even without the mandatory booking to get a nice place outdoors.
The food was good, the service friendly and fast. The fact that the meal took a while is no surprise given the number of visitors (even during the week). It is advisable to order a starter/salad in advance to bridge the waiting time.

We’re staying at the Eikendal Lodge so a natural place for us to come for dinner. It was excellent and we couldn’t fault it in any way. Our server (sorry but we didn’t catch his name) was attentive but not in your face all the time. My wife had the gluten free pasta option with chicken and she said it was the best she had ever had. My pasta with prawn in a coconut sauce was superb. Great place to eat outside as it is very relaxing and positive ambience.

We are locals in the area and have been frequenting this and the Waterstone versiin of this restaurant for many years. Over the last year we have seen the service get progressively worse. Today unfortunately we have been the victim of extremly poor service in that it has taken over and hour and a 15 minutes for our food to arrive, with no comms or attendance from our waiter since our first found of drinks over an hour ago. Quality and service has taken a back seat to profit and turning tables clearly. Sad to see

We had a wonderful 91st birthday celebration under the trees at Giovanni’s Eikendal. We enjoyed the tranquil, family atmosphere. The food and wine were delicious as always but what made this experience stand out was the friendly and attentive service from the waiters. Without any request they brought a cushion for the birthday girl to sit on, a delicious piece of cheesecake and sang happy birthday. Thank you for making an old lady feel so special. We will definitely be back.

This has become a firm favourite of ours since moving to Somerset West - spectacular views, great service and consistently delicious food.
We’re able to take our boxer dogs (on leash) and sit outside to enjoy the views.
The waitrons give us personal service and always bring a jug of water for the dogs.

Have been to Giovannis a few times and can say the food, bistro type, is very good. Our first night the place was absolutely heaving. The table service was very good but the kitchen service was not good. It took nearly two hours for the food to come. By that time we really didn’t feel like eating. The next night the place was quiet and table and food service was very quick and pleasurable. Unfortunately the red wine selection was lacking. No Merlot just cab Sauvignon and varietals. Also there was no wine by the glass or carafes so as I am unable to drink cab Sauvignon had a beer instead. Yes will probably go to Giovannis again if staying at Eikendal Lodge.

Pleasant welcome and beautiful table under a large oak tree on the edge of the pond! We ordered beetroot salad with gorgonzola, grilled calamaris, Kingklip, Ossobuco, Fillet steak (3 ounces).
It would have been nice if there had been a choice for ladies to choose a 2 ounce steak. The mushroom sauce with the steak was disappointing (package?) and the fries were undercooked. (Limp).
For dessert, vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce (a bit boring), the options were a bit disappointing.
It was very pleasant and our view was beautiful, but what was offered could be better.

The scenery is fantastic, with lake and mountain views around the Eikendal estate. We had the risotto con funghi and the risotto di mare for dinner, both of which were tasty and filling. Would highly recommend a meal at Giovanni’s!

Horrible service, the food was not good at all. They serve Italian food with capsicums in nearly every sauce so it tastes Spanish instead of Italian.
we had to wait 30 min to have a waiter acknowledge our presence and 45 min to have our food.
Never going back.

Our 3rd Christmas in CT, and oddly had never been to Eikendal - passed it so many times, but there are so many good vineyards. This time, decided to give it a go on the back of a review, and so glad we did.
It is beautifully set among trees and vines, wonderfully shaded from the heat.
Service was spot on, Ishmael making some jokes with our youngest, and in general being the perfect host. The food was so, so good - the kids had a superb spaghetti carbonate and pizza, me the veal giovanni (so thin and full of flavour), as were the prawn spring rolls, and my wife's salad was totally fabulous (she rarely waxes lyrical about food, but did this time!).
We'll definitely be back. Oh, and the rose wine was divine...

Complete let down😔
No atmosphere; large, impersonal menu that fails to deliver. Starters were tasteless and the Melanzane was oily and completely lacking in flavour. Humongous pasta portions poorly cooked and again, no flavour. Awful to say the least....
This is Italian Cuisine at its worst.

This is a family friendly venue with it's indoor and outdoor seating and a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of space for kids to play. Food is great quality and fairly priced though service is a little slow, which is okay if you not on a schedule.

The ideal spot for lunch on a cold and wet Saturday! Great service ensured that the hungry kids received their food ASAP. They had burgers and spagetti bolognaise while we snacked on foccasio.
An excellent wine selection was available.
Fish of the day was kingklip and was fresh, juicy and prepared masterly.
We also ordered the creamy mushroom risotto and calamari. Both done perfectly.
After coffees we we treated to lemonchello, on the house!
Thank you Giovanni's for a most enjoyable lunch. See you soon!

Really like it here, especially with a large group as the menu is really varied so there’s something for everyone. My pick is the pizza, but the steaks are also excellent. Portions are massive! Great views across the pond - when I went last , the noise from frogs was absolutely deafening, which added to the unique experience.
This is always on my list whenever I’m in town, especially with a large group.
