The Cattle Baron in Paarl is owned by Franco Adams. Franco has been with Cattle Baron for 24 years. He operated as the Head Chef and Project Developments Manager of the group for 18 years. The quality of the Cattle Baron Paarl Beef is consistent and affordable. This is something diners have always commented on. Franco takes it upon himself to hand select all the beef on a weekly basis from his butchers and the market. He takes great pride in then preparing it in his own environment and making it available to the public to enjoy in their homes from his butchery and deli at the Paarl store. We continually strive to raise the standard of meat served in our Grill and Bistro. We also pride ourselves on delivering our customers with elegant dining and unsurpassed standards of service in a relaxed surrounding.

Great food with a massive choice from vegetarian, chicken, fish to the red meats that they are known for.
Charles was very attentive and knowledgable and the whole team made us feel very welcome.
We will return!

Cattle Baron in Paarl is excellent. The blue cheese snails was the best I have ever had. Their variety of steaks especially the 44day mature wagyu is the best I have had in a very long time. We ended of with Irish coffee and lovely Don Pedro's. Ivan our waiter was very professional. We will become regulars. Keep it up Franco and team.

Had the most amazing picanha espetada ever!
Cattle Baron Paarl never disappoints- consistently brilliant service and food. We visit often, on different days of the week, at different times during the month.
You can’t go wrong at Cattle Baron Paarl, it’s always a winner. Well done on keeping the Paarl restaurant bar high!

This place use to be one of the better places,but they insist in changing food that used to be good to below average.
Slowly starting to skimp on bread and butter and meat snippets.
Food lamb chops 2 soft 2 impossible to eat,Lamb shank below average.
Dessert terrible 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️😳😳

Lovely venue, food was very good (other than whats coming below) excellent service from the waitress reasonably priced.... but the managements attitude ruined the night.
Visited the restaurant whilst staying with friends in Paarl.
I ordered lamb shank which was lovely, plenty of meat, hardly any fat but unfortunately there was a plastic kimble tag left in the meat which I didn't find until it was in my throat.
I coughed the plastic up which wasn't as traumatic as it sounds and informed the waitress. She was excellent and returned the meal to the kitchen and apologised.
This is where the night got disappointing. The manager appeared with my plate and brought it back.
Straight away he told me that there was nothing wrong with the quality of the food and it was just a mistake that the plastic tag had been left in the food, something to do with the butchers putting two tags in each shank and they had missed it.
I didn't have an issue with the quality of the food, it tasted great...... more the fact that I had been forced to pull a piece of plastic out of my throat because a mistake buy them.
I was assured there was no more plastic in my meal, so I ate the rest as I would not like it to go to waste in a country where people struggle to feed themselves.
I did however expect for the meal to be reduced in price or some for of appology, neither of which happened.
The manager said the chef would be out to apologise and explain which never happened until 30 minutes later when we were leaving. He just walked out of the kitchen and scowled, no explanation or apology and the full bill had been presented.
We paid in full but with no tip....this didn't seem to go down well.
Please up your game when you make a mistake, it ruined what would have been an excellent meal

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to extend my sincere apologies for the disappointing experience you had during your recent visit to our restaurant. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and I want to assure you that the issues you raised are being taken very seriously.
Firstly, I am truly sorry that you had to encounter a plastic tag in your lamb shank. I can only imagine how alarming and inconvenient that must have been for you, and it is certainly not the standard of quality we strive to uphold. I am grateful that you brought this to the attention of our attentive waitress, who promptly addressed the issue and conveyed your concerns to the kitchen.
However, I am deeply disappointed to hear about the less-than-satisfactory response from our manager. It is disheartening to learn that the way the situation was handled fell short of the high standards we set for ourselves. Please accept our sincerest apologies for the manager's approach and any frustration or discomfort it may have caused.
I understand that your expectation for a reduced price or some form of apology was not met, and for that, I am truly sorry. This oversight is being thoroughly investigated, and we are taking immediate steps to address and rectify the situation to prevent any recurrence in the future.
Your mention of the delayed apology from the chef is also noted. I want to assure you that the chef reached you as quick as he could, due to a busy evening in the kitchen. We will thoroughly investigate the matter of the tag in the Lamb Shank with our supplier, we can assure you of that.
Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we genuinely appreciate your understanding in this matter. We are committed to learning from this experience and improving our service to prevent such incidents from happening again.
Once again, I apologize for the negative impact this had on what could have been an excellent dining experience. We genuinely appreciate your patronage and hope for the opportunity to welcome you back to showcase the high standards we are known for.

We arrived 6pm without a booking but were quickly shown to a lovely table in a nice big cool well decorated room.
The menu is vast and explains everything you need to know on the first page. We ordered our drinks and meals and the waitress was very accommodating.
We ordered the 500g chateaubriand to share which came with 2 sides and 2 sauces. It was beautiful. Flambed at the table. Chips were sooo good too.
The only negative was the mains were delivered to the table before our starter plates were cleared away. So we had to quickly move empty plates around to allow the chateaubriand to be put on the table along with our main plates and sides. Next time I will ask for a 5/10 minute break between courses as felt a little bit rushed.
We will definitely be back soon. Highly recommended.

The restaurant was recommended. I normally pop into Hussar Grill in Paarl for a similar experience. But thought I will try something different.
I thought I would try one of their gourmet burgers as I was not very hungry. I specifically asked for my meat to be medium rare. I do not enjoy my meat any other way. However, I would have been fine with a medium. Instead it was charcoal. When a patty falls apart because it is so dry. I told the waitress, who apologised. I also do not want to send it back and be the only person sitting waiting for a replacement while the rest of my family have finished their food. So I ate it.
I also asked for an ice cold beer. They brought me a cool beer and a bucket of ice. Really not what is expected from a restaurant!

Cattle Baron Grill is an absolute must to visit. The fantastic selection of freshly prepared meats, served in relaxed and inviting surroundings, truly showcases the best of South African meat and produce.
The service was outstanding—attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience. As someone who isn’t typically a steak eater, I was completely converted. This was hands-down the best meat I’ve ever eaten!
If you’re looking for a place to indulge in top-quality food with excellent service, Cattle Baron Grill is the spot. Highly recommended!

We just want to say a HUGE thank you to Franco & all his team. Thank you for risking being there during the taxi strikes & making the restaurant feel like the happiest, friendliest, safest haven, a home from home for everyone there. Especially when it felt like the world around us was going mad! The steaks were outstanding, the service just lovely & a shout out to Charlie who was hands on in the kitchen making salads & Dom Pedros … 😄! Thank you all 🥰🙏

Nothing special!
Chips portion was larger than the steak but best on the plate
Lots of side sauce.
Price: Way Overpriced
Value: 3/10
Atmosphere: 3/10 seated outside. Not in main restarant
Service: 7/10
Overall: 4/10

We deeply regret that we fell short of meeting your expectations, which may have been "overhyped". We would have appreciated if you had made an earlier reservation, as this would have allowed us to accommodate you in our main restaurant. While our House Specialty remains a cherished choice for many, we recognize that individual tastes vary. Our portion sizes adhere to the specifications we promote, and our steakhouse cut chips naturally result in a generous serving. It is worth noting that our pricing remains in line with the industry standards established by the Franchise Group and, in some cases, may even be more cost-effective, also not forgetting the promotions we have running alongside the standard menu.
We are genuinely sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations.

Top notch service from Civilene! We did not make mention at all that we were celebrating a special occasion, yet she made us feel like VIPs in any case. Such a very presentable, eloquent and profficient server. Attentive without being overbearing. On point. Cross sells so subcinscioisly succesfully, we spent R400 more than initially planned! 🤭 Wil ask for her by name with the next reservation. This employee is a tremendous asset to your staff compliment and represents the Cattle Baron brand with grace and poise.
Food, as always, did not dissapoint. It was a cold evening, but the lit fireplaces and regulated in-house temperature made for a great atmosphere.
Clean, neat, welcoming.
This branch is a well-organised, healthy, tight run ship. 5 stars!

We set out to find the best steak in Paarl, after moving here
Finding a good steak was not that easy, Noop did a perfect Sirlion.
There are many steak houses here, we tried a lot of them. Someone told us the try the Cattle Baron, I was skeptical. There steaks are the best, time after time I have had steaks that are cooked perfectly and really tasty
If you want the best steak don’t bother going anywhere else.

All I can say is wow, from friendly knowledgeable staff, to out stand decor, the most amazing food. I will be back and will highly recommend this to any local or international guest traveling in Paarl. Thank you for ending our tip on a high.
