Noop was a recommendation for dinner from our lodging and we are so thankful that they steered us in this direction - it was a fantastic recommendation. We had dinner on a Thursday night at 20:00 booking on the day, but I think we got lucky to get a table without more notice.
Noop has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere, there was a broad mix of diners from families, to a very civilised 18 birthday party and couples / small groups, the tables are well spaced and comfortable seating. The decor is a mix of contemporary and old world. The extensive specials board in addition to the a la carte menu provides a huge variety of choice. There is a premium wine list with some very special 4 digit wines but also more budget friendly alternatives by the glass or bottle. We had the oysters to start which were such a treat followed by the 200g beef fillet with peppercorn sauce and a side of fries and the springbok loin. It was all beautifully cooked to our taste, artfully presented and the service was convivial and prompt. We really enjoyed the whole evening and would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, especially as we were pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end, as it was excellent value for the quality.

I like to write it again and again: over the last 12 years, Noop has remained consistently high in quality, something few restaurants in South Africa can say, if they have even survived that long. The service is excellent and warm, they don't try to play "fine dining games" and the prices are still reasonable. Times have gotten tough in the restaurant business, food prices have risen dramatically and nowhere in the world can that be done without raising prices in this area. The wine list is also still remarkable. I will keep coming back.

With the likes of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek nearby raising cuisine standards to new highs you wonder if this can be matched in Paarl. This spot is nothing short of spectacular. Incredible service and exquisite food, don’t miss out on their beautiful seafood dishes and excellent wine. The setting is a perfect buzzing vibe and the staff would be classed as top quality in London and New York. Make sure to book ahead! They managed to squeeze us in with some luck - definitely worth adding to the must do list.

Not very impressed by Noop. Unsure why this is such a highly rated restaurant.

To “tick a box”, restaurants will specify “Vegan options”, “Gluten free options” or “Vegetarian friendly”, just to have one of each on the menu! (Did not see the Gluten free option.
This is what Noop also does.
I had the steak and was a good sized portion with great onion rings and chips.
My wife had the table salad (Vegetarian dish) and was ok, small for a table salad and expensive.
What really got me was the price of the wines. Are we not in “wine country”? Why so expensive?
To pay almost the same for a glass of wine that what a bottle cost retail, is ridiculous.
I am expecting some clever answer/response back but cannot rate them high because of the prices.

We have been there twice, convinced by the excellent food at our first visit there. The staff is friendliy and attentive. You definitely need a reservation, the restaurant is filled up quickly after 6.30 pm, which isn‘t a surprise. We had starters and steaks, deserts and cheese platter, all was excellent, and, for any carnivore absolutely necessary, cooked to perfection. When you order medium ore medium rare, you will get it as ordered! The quality of is top, so this is definitely no 1 in that area. Let me also point out that you have the byo option, but you do not need that, there are a lot of wines by the glass, and the wine list is exceptional for a wine lover and sommelier like me. So we will come back, only a question of time.

Noop is a fabulous restaurant. We’ve had lunch there once a week during our five week stay and every meal has been perfect and have another booking for next week. The crayfish bisque is absolutely superb and my husband says that their springbok dish is the best he has ever eaten. The wine list is also extensive and represents very good value for money. The staff are lovely, extremely friendly and also highly professional. I would highly recommend this restaurant which, in my view, is the best in Paarl

We stayed 4 times in the last 14 days at Noop - no matter what dish, everything is of a top quality. The service is 1A - we recommend the Noop without restriction and are already looking forward to the next visit!!! Big praise to the whole team!!!

The pork neck as always was incredibly tender and flavourful, perfectly seasoned to enhance its natural richness. The beef carpaccio was a delight of simplicity and elegance, with its tender slices showcasing the freshness and quality of the meat, complemented by well-chosen accompaniments that elevated the dish further.
The sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere of Noop, paired with excellent service, made the meal even more enjoyable. Having eaten in Franschhoek for the past month we were keen to try the top-rated restaurant in Paarl. We had the crayfish bisque (excellent) and the duck dumplings (good) for starters and two fillet steaks in peppercorn sauce with some extra blue cheese sauce for mains. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and both sauces were excellent too. We had a reasonably- priced Boschkloof blend to wash it down, which also hit the mark. Unfortunately the good news ends there as the service was a complete disaster. We were never offered water and it took 58 minutes for our starters to arrive from the kitchens. There was no maitre d’ to complain to as we were told he was in the kitchen cooking! 5* food 2 or 3* service means I’m being generous in awarding 4*s overall.

We were served by Tifeney, she was amazing. Sensitive to our needs, not over bearing and was on cue when needed. Loved her service. The food was exquisite! Great wine selection to accompany your food of choice. The waiters know their wine to food pairings and could help if you are unsure.
Please do go if you are in the Cape Town aria, worth a visit.

ok This is a plus and negative review
we dined at Noob on the 11th April and the experience was fantastic, the food is exceptionally good.
we tried to book at 16h00 this evening for 17h30 and we were told that the place was fully booked
so we went to another restaurant on the way past at 17h00 the place was empty after we came back at 19h00 the place was still at least 70% empty, so you have a place that has incredible good food, but it doesn't have the ability to understand that a customer who comes at 17h00 is out by 19h00 so is quite prepared to stay empty for those 2 hrs
according to the reviews they are patronised by many local frequent patronage, that is all good and well, but new patronage is excluded due to this and after quite happily spending more that R2000 for a meal for 2 at this restaurant because it makes very good food I will not be going back there as it caters only for the selected local customers
this is their right, but I will not be recommending this restaurant to anybody else as its very localy focused.

After two visits to Noop, I can confidently say it never disappoints! The vibrant ambiance combined with its mouthwatering dishes makes each experience one to remember. My all-time favorite is the crispy duck—perfectly cooked and irresistibly flavorful. The beef sirloin steak is equally remarkable, a dish I crave before each visit. Noop has mastered the art of delivering consistently delicious food in a setting that exudes energy and charm. I’m already looking forward to my next return!

Chose to stay near this restaurant as it was so excellent last year. This time, good, but not as good. The dishes are well conceived and executed but lack the lightness of touch of before. The room is echoey and so with parties of tourists is not very relaxing. The front of house appeared to have a horrid cough and cold and would serve food after coughing or blowing her nose which was concerning and off putting
