Great place to stop before travel over the swartberg pass. Excellent venue that makes you feel welcome and warm. The menu are great but the best are the tasty roosterbrood with al the varies filling together with nice coffee or something for the more thirsty....A must stop for the one who enjoy to travel.More

Arrive hungry! Portions are HUGE. You place your order at the counter and it’s delivered to your table. Staff are very chatty and friendly. Food is super-tasty and amazing value for money. You won’t eat again the same day! We had 3 different versions of...the roosterkoek and were delighted with the creative touches to the fillings.More

Before you go on the pass or just after you come down: Just stop at Kobus. The Roosterkoek is the best, the coffee is good and the views are just stunning. We never have driven past this place, it just invites us to have a...break whenever we are there.More

Beyond disappointed with Kobus se Gat. Received the rudest service I’ve come across in SA in a very long time. The restaurant manager/representative behind the counter who eventually took our orders couldn’t possibly have been ruder or more disinterested in serving us if he tried....He ignored us initially as we arrived. Gave no direction on how the order system worked. Eventually took our order with absolute disdain… how dare we interrupt his 10 min, non-food order-related conversation with other patrons who were done paying long ago. We were genuinely polite and courteous, but were clearly a massive inconvenience to his day from the moment we arrived. A disappointing experience, when our expectations were so much greater. What we experienced was not famous Karoo hospitality. Far from it. Business must be booming to think he can treat customers that way and they’ll keep coming back. There are many other amazing places to eat in that area, where your support is acknowledged and appreciated in true South African style… graciously and genuinely.More

Disappointed beyond belief, cannot rate the service as there was none, forgot about us, then forced to take food as take away, it was horrible, inedible, threw it in trash can. Never again, I will crawl to the next eatery, but never there again, and beers...overpriced at R30 and not even offered a glass. Nee dankie, good luck to that place.More

Dear Mrs. Navara We apologize for this inconvenience caused and during your time at KSG Restaurant. We will have a look into this situation as this is not the norm at the Restaurant or tours we offer.

Best roosterkoek ever! Brilliant setting and a roaring fire on a cold rainy day! Guests all chat to each other and the atmosphere was so relaxed. The roosterkoek are large yet so crispy and light, where so many are stodgy. A wide range of fillings...are available. Dankie Kobus. Dit was lekker!More

I was most impressed this latest visit to Kobus se Gat. We had a braai this time, and a gorgeous broccoli salad. The potato bake and pumpkin fritters were also great, (as were the rooosterkoek) Not too sure about the dogs walking around lifting their...legs against the tables thoughMore

This wonderful bueaty spot offers the most delicious Roesterkoek next to a fantastic view and is run by the super friendly owner who is also an expert for billtong and has a lot of good suggestions about activities around the mountains. We had a wonderful,...sunny breakfast here and we will definitely come back. This place is a must-do!More

En route to the Swartberg Pass we stopped at Kobus se Gat again to buy some plain Roosterkoek to take with us the eat later. I must say they were a lot better this time, but Kobus was very disorganised. The kitchen was even more...so, very messy with none of the staff wearing uniform.More
