We are from Uitenhage and was looking for a local restaurant. We were so impresses by your restaurant. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food looked and tasted beautiful. Portion size impressed us alot. Felt like home. Will come again I promise.
Had a very bad experience last night we've booked a table on arrival there was no reserved table for us we sat outside and wait for a table without any assistance we did not received the treated like the other people who where also there...and when everybody els left and we were alone they make it looks like we not there the way they talk bad things and they where very loudMore
We had a pleasant meal there - well priced, food was fine but the staff were slow and we kept having to call them for help.
My last review was in 2016 - I am a regular as it is the only place in Odn one can order sushi and the sushi went through a poor spell until this year when the quality improved dramatically. The sushi is now very good...- much better than most sushi restaurants even in George - but the quality of the service sadly remains dreadful. They do not see you arrive. One has to get up from the open air seating and go and find a waitress - and they all seem so disinterested. Next tme I visit I'm taking a bell.More
Great breakfast at awesome prices. Can't, however, make a decent cup of cappuccino. I think all of Oudtshoorn needs to learn because no one can.
On our holiday from the U.K. to visit family in Oudtshoorn we looked for a venue that could accommodate a range of preferences, and the Karoopot’s offering was ideal. We were a party of 9 and had no limit to our budget but did have...a craving for traditional dishes. However, 3 of us wanted 300 gram Ostrich steaks which were out of stock - very annoying for a Friday night. So my choice from the Chef’s Specialities was the Karoo Babotie and my husband’s the Red Wine and Garlic Ostrich; others had steaks, Cape Malay Meat Curry, Chicken Schnitzel, and Alfredo pasta - all of which were enjoyed except my dry & crusted Babotie that I couldn’t eat, and hubby’s tough Ostrich scraps in a Linguine that was over stirred and chopped up. The friendly and highly efficient gentleman serving us was understanding and offered to call the owners and to discount our meal, which was appreciated. We never heard from such owners and my craving for traditional Babotie remains unmet and my expectations of the Karoopot sadly deflated. Come on, guys, your great offering on paper needs to translate into a superb experience on the plate to uphold your reputation. Great service alone is insufficient to get me back. Good luck as you work on the details.More
How awful! Sometimes, it is better to close an activity and avoid claiming to be a restaurant. Absolutely DEPLORABLE service. Even a simple burger with fries fails with poorly thawed "pepper sauce". PLACE TO AVOID ABSOLUTELY.
The Restaurant was recommended by the Guest house , limited menu but we could work with it . Ordered first drinks .... it took very long , then asked the waitress not to hide and to visit the table regularly , that did not happen.... Very poor service , eventually the food arrived , they managed to mess up all 3 orders . Called the manager 20 min later she still did not arrive , she eventually came and immediately had an attitude ..... Her first words “if you not happy leave “ !!!!! I have no words ! We Paid and left !More
Good food, good service & reasonably priced. We will come here again on our next visit to Oudshoorn!
Popped in for lunch, menu was limited but staff welcomed us and served ice cold beer. Maybe next time we will try the sushi and other delicatessens. it has a good name with most of the locals we spoke to.
Tastless food was offered, crumbed mushrooms - tastless, no salt or pepper, the side ships were hardly cooked The meatballs wrapped cabbage were cold and awfull, falling appart when 'touching' them. Same with the sliders, 3 different burgers were offered, only warmed up not freshly...grilled!More
Lovely food and nice variety. Good coffee and yummy sushi! Nice to go for a nice dinner as a couple.
No ambience. Service with attitude. While we were there people cancelled orders and left. Didn’t have what my husband ordered - this information needs to be relayed when you arrive not after half an hour of waiting for your order to be taken. Salad dressing...arrived when salad was nearly finished. I fetched salt and pepper from another table. No black pepper! Someone needs to be taught how to make tartare sauce. Honestly the worst meal we have ever eaten. TV blaring. First and last visit. Came home and ate rusks.More
We have a serious shellfish allergy in the family, told them about this when ordering our sushi. When the food came one of the dishes had prawns on, in a sauce, so not visible to the eye. Luckily we spotted it before the allergic person...touched it. This could have resulted in a fatality. Management did not take it seriously at all. Very unprofessional and very dangerous. I don’t think they have proper controls, so we will never visit this restaurant again. The sushi is normally ok, but the rest of the menu is actually terrible anyway. Most of the time there is more staff than guests.More
