This restaurant is amazing! The menu has a large choice and the food is absolutely delicious and very well priced. The staff are very friendly and attentive. They also run a shuttle service which picks you up from your hotel and drops you back after your meal. Do not miss this restaurant when you are in Oudtshoorn.

Nostalgie was an overall superb experience. Whether for coffee, tea and a sweet treat or for a lovely variety of meals including delicious VEGAN-options 😍 A lovely atmosphere with seating inside and outside of this lovely vintage themed restaurant. We were treated warmly by staff and the owner herself from the moment on arrival until they waved us off on our way home with big smiles and big bellies. Our waitress Samantha was a joy and very a natural conversationalist. Prices are beyond reasonable taking into consideration the portion sizes and the food are delicious and made with love. Definitely a must visit!! And definitely worth supporting a local restaurant especially in this restaurant 👏🏼 very impressed and hope to return soon to the best Restaurant Oudtshoorn will ever see 🙌🏼

Good wines and craft beers and excellent quality food. The portions are large and they provide a side of delicious veggies with your meal all at a great price. Definitely our favorite dining experience during our stay in Oudtshoorn. Would highly recommend their Bobotie 10/10

My husband, son and I had the pleasure of dining at Nostalgie, Oudtshoorn, on a Saturday two weeks ago, when we were staying in the area for a weekend. The restaurant has a homely feel to it and we were initially seated in a room adorned with framed family photographs, but decided to move to the verandah, which had a lovely, peaceful ambience. Like the main dining room inside, the outside area is decorated with eclectic and nostalgic pieces. There’s certainly something to suit everyone’s palate on the vast menu. My husband selected the ostrich burger and our son the salmon wrap. My ostrich fillet was succulent and the vegetables equally scrumptious. Both my husband and I had the baked chocolate pudding which oozed decadence. The service throughout was courteous and we were satisfied with all the Covid-19 safety protocols. Nostalgie represents value for money for generous helpings of delicious home-inspired fare. We would happily eat there again. Oh, and on your way out, don’t forget to buy some treats from the deli to enjoy the next day!

Visited on Valentine's Day so a little busy. Good variety and range of food available. Nicely presented. Waiter a little too attentive, need to eat some of food before being asked if we are enjoying it! Indoor and outdoor eating spaces.

Restaurant was overbooked. Poor planning and poor management of supplies. Waited 45 minutes for a menu as all the menus were occupied by the big tables. Had to ask manager to get our waitress to order food and neighboring had the same problem. When ordering food was only told afterwards that the dish my husband ordered is not available. Atmosphere is terrible and management as well.

Had a meal here last night, we only picked it as they had a generator and a power cut was due that evening . We struck lucky , the staff were friendly and helpful, despite the menu being slightly unusual we were pleasantly surprised . Myself and 2 friends had the best lentil and vegetable curry we have ever had, the spices were perfect bursting with flavour, my husband had the venison pie which was delicious . We were all given a lovely side of pumpkin tart and a squash with peas which was a nice touch. It was also reasonably priced We thoroughly enjoyed it and I would love to go again, sadly we were just passing through, although one day I hope to return . I would highly recommend

After reading such great reviews of Nostalgia we decided to spend our last evening dining at Nostalgia . Drinks were great, but my wedge salad was very salty, and I normally like salty. After an hour 40 minutes our meals still had not arrived. The manager said that my order had been over cooked and they were redoing it. When we asked the manager again how it was coming she said slow and it was painful. When our dinners still did not arrive we decided to leave. Had expected better after reading such wonderful reviews.

A mega sized nostalgie burger, a chicken pie, a 500ml bottle of wine and a bottled water, all for R205. Lovely, attentive server who seemed to thrive when I asked he picked for me with the only criteria I was hungry. My burger was nicely cooked and yes it was filling. Had a mouthful of my wife’s chicken pie and it was also tasty. As for the price, incredible value.

The place has a good reputation and the food was good. However the service was patchy, not the fault of the servers who were working their harses orrf...but I think they would achieve a more consistent restaurant if they took less reservations. My kangaroo steak was good and the vino chilled but I felt a bit rushed and ignored at the same time.

Book ahead if you want to eat here, always a sign of a good restaurant. The ambience is gentle and welcoming and the food was tasty and nicely cooked and presented. Being the Ostrich farming capital, we both went for the local delicacy. The steak was perfect and the shank fell off the bone. Both came with amazing sauces. Very competitively priced, well under the equivalent of £30 for the pair of us including wine and a sneaky craft gin.

My babotie was tasteless and the top was dried out. The other 3 meals we had were the lamb which was not well cooked. The sauce on one of them was dark brown and tasted like gravy powder. Disgusting! There was one young waiter who was serving everyone in both rooms of the restaurant. We were highly disappointed. The receptionist was was very pleasant and offered us chocolate balls and biscuits which were on the counter. This however, did not make up for the cost of the meals.

Nostalgie has always been seen as one of the best restaurants in Oudtshoorn BUT that's more like a thing of the past because the decline in their service and professionalism is terrible. Their food used to be well made until a few months ago - it was clear they just defrosted things. Watery and tasteless.Shredded chicken swimming in discoloured water, mushed up veg this gets called "Chicken A la King" Ironically I have heard other people had the same experience with their cooked meals. At the time a lady named Justine was kind enough to give me a new freshly made meal. What a total difference! Note: This has happened to me twice, atleast compensation was offered once. I never chose to complain or make a fuss but after this next experience I will definitely speak out.... More than 2 weeks ago I spoke to the OWNER named Aurona, (trying to get different quotes for an event from various restaurants in Oudtshoorn) Not sure why I bothered to include this place because almost 1 MONTH has passed and still up until now she has not contacted me, like she said she would. I sent her a message, which she/or a staff member read and also did not respond on. I am not sure how this restaurant holds a title, that they clearly do not live up to?! If the owner can't even be polite enough to keep her word and follow through with being professional then I do not even want to know/imagine what is happening behind the scenes. I will definitely continue to share my experience with people. Word of mouth is powerful and I suggest Nostalgie with its owner learn some client etiquette and people's skills. What a way to treat clients that have been one of your biggest supporters when the Pandemic hit -  buying takeaway meals almost once every week and spending R500+ on every order. THEN (2019/2020) vs NOW (2022) the lack of quality in all aspects is really just BAD. I was nice enough to give even one star. Definitely deserve 0.

What an exceptional experience! In this quaint little house dating back more than 80 years, with an inviting look and feel, the hostess and her team makes you feel right at home. Here you experience the legendary Karoo hospitality and charm! Apart from a step back in time, the bean soup and Malay Mutton Curry, hit the spot - just the right remedy for the cold Karoo evening! The cuisine is world class, the price is right, the experience is brilliant. Best part of the evening was seeing the chefs glow when they were thanked for makibg our dinner such a memrable Karoo highlight. We will certainly visit again!

The waiter was polite but useless. He failed to explain the selection which was on a board and not on the menu. He never asked if we needed more refreshments. Our food took over an hour and the restaurant wasn't even busy. The food was luke warm when it eventually arrived. The waiter said there were 2 kebabs however it was 1 kebab broken into 2. I ordered ostrich kebab which came with basmati rice and a monkey gland sauce. Hello, where did this chef get his training. That combination is not traditional Soutb African cuisine. Decor was hideous. Traditional SA decor does not include chinese lantern. Menus were dirty, chairs uncomfotable, the list goes on. How this restaurant can get 4.5 star rating is beyond me.
