About
Bloo Bistro is a Bohemian Wonderland of Color even when preparing one of our meals. We call Bloo Bistro a World Cafe Bar/Fusion Restaurant because the owners are both well travelled and wanted to present a Bistro/Lounge/Entertainment Venue, which represents many cultures in the decor. Paul Zeman and Debby Sani have both used creativity to it's fullest which has resulted in a dining space which entertains the eyes and the cuisine assaults the senses in a taste bud extravaganza. The entertainment is varied with artists, local and international ( please enquire about performances) ...The food is fusion, mostly vegetarian,, delicious and affordable.

Can't compliment them enough. The best curry I've ever tried. Please visit Bloo Bistro it's not to be missed. Honestly my favorite place I've visited in the Cape. Thank you to the wonderful vibrant owners for a special piece of heaven.

This was by far the craziest most creative space in knysna. It was a very different experience and has massive cocktail glasses 😅. The owner Paul is so cool. If you are adventurous swing past here for a late night drink . 👻

Watched a Golden Oldies-type show at Bloo Bistro last night. The decor and lighting created a theatre atmosphere and set us up nicely for what was to come. What a wonderful time we had! Paul, and his wife Debs were fantastic hosts and cared for our every need. The service was great and the cabaret show most entertaining. The lamb curry must rank as one of the very best I have had the privilege of eating.
Not our last visit for sure.
I highly recommend this venue if you want to have a great time in a most welcoming and relaxed entertainment venue.

In response to your tragic experience at Bloo Bistro. I've noticed that this is also your first review on TripAdvisor so it's perfectly clear what your complaint is actually about. Bloo Bistro has been a labour of love and you have gone all out to discredit us because of your apparent unhappiness. When I arrived home and my wife told me that some customer had been sending relentless messages about the price of our quarts I was gobsmacked. I'm not going to ,make this reply as long as your constant harrasment of our personal telephone numbers as you did the following morning as well. Firstly let me say that if you'd visited the cheaper places before coming to our illustrious venue, you would have been sold the same for probably half the price, been mugged on the way to the un-hygienic toilets and on the way to your vehicle afterwards. We are not a shebeen nor a tavern which you aligned us with in your barrage of whiny messages you sent us complaining about the beer price. Our Bistro caters for a specific target market and is a place created to inspire the imagination and if we have to sell our quarts of beer at the prices you are used to and which probably suits your pocket, our venue would have been destroyed a long time ago and our collectable decor taken as souvenirs as well. Reflecting on your night out, you seemed to be having a introverted evening because in my line of of work and profession, I along with many many other p[eople in our industry, have learned to observe peoples personalities and how they interact with others and in our Bistro you seemed to do very little interacting with other patrons . We are a bistro, not a tavern which mostly uses minimal decor or expense to treat customers to a night out. We are definitely not that place You also have appeared to be hell-bent on complaining about a quart of beer which we only supply because of the huge financial losses everyone has suffered due to current global circumstances if you haven't noticed, just to pay rent, exhorbitant electricity costs , food and staff and charging the price we do to make a profit of some sort. Furthermore, I would not use the price of a beer in relation to being socially unjust as it's perhaps not the best example and 'unethical', a word you quoted many times. For the last 8 yrs we offer kids from our communities a free movie once a month plus little treats whenever it's possible which is defintiely a socially conscious gesture. We have also been credited as a socially just venue by a local Journalist in past years. With the greatest of respect, your complaint is unjustified also because people normally ask me beforehand what our prices are, not after the bill arrives
which seemed almost intentional to discredit us.. . I'm not sure which other social platform you intend to use to publicly display your unhappiness besides facebook and TripAvdisor but please be advised that legally it is tantamount to crimea injuria in the light of the law in South Africa. Your review is malicious for whatever reason but I do suggest you return to try one of the best Curries on the Garden Route we can offer in our beautiful space. If you do not mind, could you please send our regards to our friends in pretty Tulbagh, Cape Town. I besmeech other restaurateurs to respond to my thoughts on this. We pay 15.50 a quart at our local supplier and charge R45 per quart. It's still cheaper than 2 beers which will total R60 depending on the brand of choice. We only began sell quarts due to people having less money to spend and our regular locals varying in age have never ever complained before? Perhaps we are wrong and are open to 'constructive' comments. Big love to all other business owners and patrons out there and once more, thank you for your support over the almost decade since we created our magical Bloo Bistro

I havenever experienced a place so magical and warming to ones soul. The food is excellent... At first one is perplexed because of the Bohemain decor... Is it a lounge, a restaurant or a very interesting nightclub... Rarely on on one's travels does one encounter such a lovingly created venue which embraces worldliness.. Other venues in Knysna's tourist strip, the waterfront can be found anywhere in the world... Not Bloo Bistro. I was and am still blown away... They apprently also have some of South Africas top musicians performing there during season... I will definitely be back and recommend Bloo to everyone visiting Knysna. Well done Paul, Debs, Malvin, Sandra and Priscila the cook. Yours is tge best Curry on the Garden route. You have created pure MAGIC

We visited out of season, therefore they allowed my teenager daughters to accompany us - but normally they advertise this as adult bar - not for any other reason but to make sure there is no drunken kids disturbing the sober mature crowd

we stumbled upon this gem!!!!!! good food and a lovely, lively and interesting atmosphere. the owners went out of their way to make the visit memorable and even gave my daughters hoola hoop lessons.
menue small but in our party of, we chose 4 different meals (mostly in order to taste more....). and all 4 meals were amazing. the nachos was THE BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. congratulations, you are doing a splendid job.
when in knysma again, i will support you again and again.

been two times at this cafe and it was amazing!
The Lamm-Curry is unique and tastes damn good! Furthermore the staff is amazing. They are really communicative and friendly. Had a lot of fun there.

We found this place through an internet search looking for a place with live music. The service was brilliant from from the moment we arrived. Warm atmosphere. Live entertainment was great. Wish we could visit every week.

I was blown away by the great vibe and the trippy environment. The staff and locals were super friendly and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. Although it was a fairly quiet night, the happy vibe was infectious and I had a great time hanging out with other visitors. Looking for a vegetarian option, I had the aubergine bake and it was absolutely delicious. The live music and dj was good too. So worth a visit.

We had the pleasure of tasting the new menu at Bloo Bistro last Friday night. We were treated like royalty and the Greek Meze was a truly heavenly to experience. As a vegetarian, I was spoilt for choice, which is rare. Thank you Paul and Deb's for a delightful dinner,and congratulations on a magnificent menu.
