We enjoyed a really delicious dinner at Mario's on a chilly Sunday night, with the most friendly, excellent service (thank you, Zoey), and wish we could go back regularly (though we live a bit far away). We shared traditional bruschetta (love all the punchy garlic!)...and a green salad to start, followed by linguini Putanesca for my husband, and penne with chicken, cream sauce, green pepper, mushroom and peppadew for me (OMG)...We loved it all, and since I had to save room for dessert I took some pasta home and enjoyed it for lunch the next day (still excellent). The Tiramisu dessert we shared was creamy and decadent, and also delicious. Thank you, and we will definitely be back next time we're in Knysna. Fantastic Italian food, with the friendliest service ever! :)More
This is the second time that we have dined at Mario’s, but this was the first time for lunch, and at their new location. My wife and guests enjoyed their pizzas, but my Fettuccine Alfredo was too al dente for my liking, and had a...strange taste.
I’ll have to try a few of the other dishes on the menu when we are next in Knysna.More
Made a booking 1 week in advance and when we arrived we were warmly greeted.
The quality of the service and the quality of the food is outstanding.
From our mussel and calamari starter to our mains which was pasta and pizza. as always you...will never be disappointedMore
Tasteless. A few veg floating in unseasoned water with a hint of tomato and olive oil.
No beans, no noodles, no Parmesan and no butter for the stale bread.
BEYOND TERRIBLE!! Chef needs to Google an AUTHENTIC ITALIAN MINESTRONE SOUP RECIPE!!!!!
Pizzerias are decent the pasta is over sauced cafeteria Italian. Management that refuses to wear masks both times we visited in and outside the restaurant greeting you or coming to your table. Like dude why bother sanitize my hands if you don’t give a crap....Making your employees where them says a lot about you. I asked waitress she merely rolled her eyes and said never. I’ll get better Italian and not get sick elsewhere thank you.More
We have been visiting Cafe Mario for at least 15 years, always on our family holiday. We have been pleasantly surprised by the homey new location. Although the previous location had the water, boats etc, it's always a concern with little children. The new location,...just a block away from the Waterfront feels like coming home for dinner. Pappa greets you at the door and the family serves up amazing food. We especially enjoyed "common sense" covid rules, in a time where most people are paranoid about following "the rules"
We had outside seating (for 10 + 2 dogs) and EVERY one felt at home, even the dogs with water supplied.
The new atmosphere, the same excellent food and hospitality makes Cafe Mario a MUST visit!More
