Devastated that this gem in the heart of Kbysna has been claimed by Covid. Visits to Knysna will never be the seem. I wish the lovely Ellen and her sterling team everything of the best and hope to see them back in action one day....

You must try the Boboti spring roll starter. They are to die for. Followed by Fillet steak medium rare. Best meal We’ve had in South Africa and less than £30 for the two of us. Could have wine because if the alcohol ban but still...a wonderful experienceMore

We were a bit anxious to read about the need for security outside this restaurant since we were going to their second seating. When we pulled up in front of the place, we were met by a security guard who walked us into the restaurant...and after dinner, back out to our car. The food was excellent. Best lamb chops ever !!!More

The Olive Tree was recommended by the guest house. The homely restaurant is situated on the Main Street. The atmosphere is very pleasant and warm. The owner takes it upon herself to personally take the menu board to each table. She explains each dish on...offer that day. There was a good spread of fish dishes, chicken dishes, beef dishes and vegetarian dishes. She proudly promoted her chef and the quality of the food. She is a lovely lady; warm and friendly but not intrusive during the meal itself. For me, it was, I think, one the most enjoyable meals on the South African trip.More

Although not in the most beautiful part of Knysna, this restaurant definitely deserves a visit. The boboti spring rolls are delicious. Steak outstanding with a good choice of sauces. So good so be prepared to book well in advance. Very popular.

Having booked in advance( a must) we enjoyed our meal here. We had the curry ( not too spicy) , the fillet, meatballs and the lamb chops. All were super, the lamb chops were especially liked. Staff were very polite and knowledgable about the menu...which helps. It is a cosy restaurant which deserves support because its location makes it troublesome when leaving in the dark. Knysna municipality needs to sort out the security of Main Street after dark in order to protect businesses such as this. What a shame because the Olive Tree is a great restaurant.More

Quite small but very busy restaurant on Knysna’s ‘High Street’. Pretty short evening opening hours, ‘out of season ‘. However, the Baked Fish and Stuffed Chicken Breast were to die for which compensated for service which wasn’t the best. Great quality and great value.

The ambiance was very charming and warm. Not a large restaurant but the best things come in small packages. The food was amazing and I highly recommend the signature beef dish. The presentation was superb, the meal was hot and served in a timely fashion....The wait staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The owner, Ellen, is constantly circulating ensuring everyone is having a wonderful experience. It is obvious that her staff love and respect her. Thei was one of the best meals we have had in the two weeks that we have been in South Africa.More
