Went to watch the rugby and the British Lions on Saturday and arrived at about 17:30 The place was over full when we arrived and there was a sign on the door that the venue was full YET Management still allowed a group of about...12 to enter. We tuned away as we (2) did not want want to be part of a super spreader event.. No obvious recording of patrons and no sanitising in place. They appeared not to have of Covert. STAY AWAY. Glad to engage John 0735448631More

Recently opened and a gem. Bright and beautifully decorated to fit in with the seaside atmosphere. Upon entering there is a lovely warm ambiance. The Breakfast room is tastefully decorated which is conducive to a relaxed dining experience overlooking the harbour and the open ocean...and views of the mountain. As they have only recently opened, we saw the write up in the local newspaper. We were pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was excellent. We made a return visit for the most delicious carrot cake, the best I have had in a long time and white chocolate cheesecake. Service is excellent and staff knowledgeable. A definite must return to on our next holiday. Unreservedly recommended.More

Not on tourist trail... A real pub + sports bar with great choice of beers....a bonus is they serve great sushi and views are wonderful...maybe a bit rough and ready for some folk but we love it!

We stopped in here after playing golf for a quick plate of sushi and glasses of wine. Service was fast and accurate. Our server was very friendly. The place was packed with jovial folks, many locals enjoying happy hour. The bar has a lovely cat...who gave the place a homey flair.More

Two of my friends and I went for a drink at Gecko after we knocked off work. As we got in, there was a bartender standing at the door and two barmen behind the bar and all of them noticed us because the place was...not full at all, the one at the door even greeted us. We decided to sit at the bar and waited for about 15-20 minutes before anyone even paid attention to us. We eventually got helped but then our bill was given to us instantaneously after we got our drinks, which I believe is unacceptable. It was my first time visiting the bar and from this experience, I don't think I'll make it for the second or third.More

We've spent New Year's at the Gecko lounge. Although they confirmed that there will be no performance, the music really started to pump at about 22:00. People were dancing and enjoying themselves. We had a pizza which were very good. We also had a table...in the corner on the "stage". This is a great table and have the nicest view from there. It could be better if the windows were cleaner. Overall, good experience and average prices.More

We visited the Gecko bar during our holiday. The views are amazing we ordered the house wine and what a shock when we were charged R90 for 2 glasses of wine that were not even half full. I questioned the price and said that is...a bar not a fine dinning establishment. To be overcharged just seems to spoil the experience,More

Food was excellent for pub grub. Measures of wine ridiculouly SHORT I think they are getting 5 or 6 measures out of cheap white wine. Questioned the wine measures and told that was their regular measure. Exploitation of the consume.

Actually, although Gecko is perched in the New Harbour above the sea with the harbour to one side and sea to the other and is ensconced by sun sea and sand it has much more to offer. The draught beers, Castle Light counting amongst them,...the varied menu, the pizzas a must. Not to mention the ever enticing Sushi. Either from inside or out on the deck overlooking the waves, the views are breathtakingly enhanced by the salt sea air. Gecko is a rugged venue where people touch on the nitty-gritty yet absorb the locale. If you want scenery, food, drink and candid company take your place amongst the larger than life people, the tastier than normal cuisine, the colder and crisper drinks, the staggering views and that person in the corner house always wanted to meet.More

Hi, no, kids are allowed. Although it is more of a pub than a restaurant. Hope this helps?
