This was one of our favorite things on our African honeymoon! If you want to feel like a local, come here. The owners are so friendly and welcoming. The food is fantastic and the whole thing is an experience. Before we went, we were not...really sure what it was so have 3-4 hours to spend. You will eat and drink through most of it as the multiple servings are served. Between rounds of food take a walk around, take pictures and enjoy the day! They will even add on options that they literally go catch while you are there! The prices are also very reasonable.More

My wife and I along with a large group of family members recently had the pleasure of dining at De Vette Mossel, and wow what an experience. Gustav and his lovely wife have done an amazing job to bring a truly unique dining experience to...visitors and locals alike. The location itself is almost like a small resort with a large lit fire pit in the middle for all to enjoy, a dock that stretches out into the bay, a walk up bar , and a large play area for kids that includes a tree fort, a zip line, see saws and swings. These are but a few examples of what is all included on the grounds the restaurant sits and it truly feels like the ultimate family Braai or BBQ for us North Americans. The dining area itself sits under a large canopy where the ground is white sand and beach signs and objects hand from the walls. Before the food is served Gustav does a great job giving the crowd a warm and hilarious welcome. The food comes in courses and each dish is incredibly delicious. Make sure you safe your Mussel Shells because they will become your fork spoon and knife!
