Visited here twice during our 7 night stay. A very busy restaurant with a great buzz but perhaps in danger of becoming a bit of a tourist trap if they’re not careful. Our first visit I opted for the oyster starter (minus the MCC) which...to be honest was a bit disappointing as there were only 3 fairly small oysters whilst my wife went for the prawn cocktail. For mains I went for one of the line fish specials which was lovely and served on a bed of mash with vegetables whilst my wife opted for the hake and chips - both delicious. Our second visit we both went for the hake and chips which were again lovely. Great atmosphere with the only downside being the toilet which is located across a yard and is a single toilet shared between men and women.More

As a Hermanus resident, I cannot believe how the prices at Fisherman’s cottage have escalated to the detriment of locals. It is obvious that they’re taking advantage of the influx of tourists who are happy to pay the “ cheap prices “ when converted to...foreign currency. Fortunately, not all our restaurants have done the same, so there is still good value out there. I won’t go back to this restaurant. Its a disgrace. Its not that fantastic to justify charging astronomical prices for certain items on their menu.More

Booked very last minute the other night, managed to have a table outside ( weather permitting) which unfortunately did change so we moved to an area undercover close by the main restaurant. They were very busy and our only grumble was the food did take...a long time to be served. We had the sea food curry with a roti, crayfish, line fish of the day and prawns, all enjoyed and washed down with a Chenin Blanc or 2. Etai looked after us and is a credit to the teamMore

This place was recommended to us and if I’m honest we had a very disappointing meal . It has a great position and vibe I must say although it was just a shame the meal wasn’t good . We went for the fish of the...day special which was extremely poor value for money and sadly the sea bream was not properly cooked through . The open mic night singing was great untill an electric guitarist played that people on the nearby tables said they agreed they couldn’t wait till he was over. Given the age of the clientele it was most unsuitable as it really dominated & spoilt the evening .More

A super little restaurant in the centre of town. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff and the food was just great. We had the sole and it was cooked to perfection. Such a lovely place to spend the evening. Staff also extremely helpful and friendly.

Quirky old building in the very centre of Hermanus with comfort and seating inside and picnic bench seating outside. The service and the food were both excellent and I would definitely recommend a visit.

4 of us had dinner here on a Saturday night. We booked the night before to make sure we had a table. Firstly, the staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and genuinely pleased to welcome us. Two of us had the seafood curry that was absolutely...lovely, best curry we had had in SA. One of the party had the seafood platter for one which would have fed an army, delicious and finally we had the line fish with a salad, beautifully cooked. It is a lovely place…book now!More

The evening meal we had at FishermansCottage was nice enough but it took ages to get through. Whether there was a problem in the kitchen we don’t know. The service and food were reasonable and the wine good.

We were booked at 5.30pm and we went on the day and changed it to 7.pm. The owner Max said as long as you don’t mind sitting in the bar with me I can accommodate you. The servers were really knowledgeable and sorted out our...order. We had seafood and it was really fresh. We had a sweet which was new on the menu. It was cherry and what tasted like semolina. The whole meal was lush.More

This is our tenth year coming here and we have to say, The Fisherman’s Cottage surpasses itself again. Wonderful salads, fish specials and amazing deserts. Great service from the amazing new waiter working his holidays too. Always a joy to come here to absorb the...friendly and casual seaside atmosphere full of memories but every visit adds new great ones too. Thank you to everyone who makes it happen.More
