Great food but such attitude from the staff, especially since we come here often as it is the perfect 30 minute walk through the Constantia Greenbelt from our home.

I have been to LA BELLE @ The Alphen numerous times over the years and have at times posted very positive reviews. Recently I have had reservations “questioned” and slack service. Today our way over-priced Double Cappuccino with Almond Milk took way too long to...arrive . No doubt the inflated price will be argued that its ALMOND MILK that has pushed the price no doubt. Nevertheless, R50 for a cappuccino is excessive. Our salmon bagels with soft poached eggs were not as ordered and arrived ready to be used as rocks i.e. the eggs. The waitress agreed they were indeed hard and removed our plates. Upon her return the eggs were as ordered however the bagel was not fresh and then ascertained as being “yesterday’s”. Again our plates were removed as we opted for the salmon on Ciabatta which we were assured was fresh. The toasted ciabatta resembled “roosterbrood” and we were actually offered a steak knife which should attest to how hard the blackened toast was. The absolute minimum Management could have tendered was coffee / juice on the house and let me explain that a fresh OJ was R50 a glass. Whilst the venue is beautiful, the food & service has taken a dive and it will be a while until we return. LA BELLE may be catering for the arriving tourists however Management should acknowledge that it was the locals who supported during COVID.More

The filet steak was cold on arrival. I was told this was because I had asked for it rare. It was a very poor piece of meat too that did not stand up to being served cold. Service incredibly slow in spite of the place...being almost empty. Avoid.More

We waited for 50 minutes to get our smoothie order, but was then told they had problems with power and if we wait the smoothies will come. We waited some more, finished eating. Still no smoothies. We left...I do not recommend you going there, it...looks better on the photos than what it really isMore

We spent a lovely rainy afternoon tasting the delights. The tomato soup starter was a meal in itself. My fish main was beautifuly plated and the cauliflour puree smooth and creamy. My salted caramel looked too perfect to eat with nuts dusted in gold. It...was the perfect amount of sweet. I loved the ambience!More

La Belle is a “local” to us and our quick go-to when we don’t want to go too far or spend too much money. We’ve been plenty of times and have never been disappointed. Admittedly no-one or no place will ever be 100% perfect, but...all in all - we love it there. Now you are asking what is not 100%? The initial service can sometimes be a bit slow, but once you’ve ordered the waiting staff in general is great. I do think they have moved into the higher price region and do feel it’s not as affordable anymore (for us). But the vibe, the food, the service, convenience and cakes make up for it. We can’t afford to go weekly anymore, but it remains a good solid option. The highlight is that (and its a new discovery) they are dog friendly. We are fairly new pooch parents and it turns out that La Belle is the perfect place to catch an early dinner or breakfast after a green belt doggie walk, because your pet can go with (so no double trips). They welcome your K9 and have a few water bowls around to cater for them as well. One of the few outdoor places in Cape Town, private, ample parking, beautiful setting.More

Great service but the food is super...average. Omelette was tasteless & oily & just blah. Stick to the bakery items- tasty.

The fruit salad is a total disappointment. When one is a vegetarian and it’s a hot day, nothing nicer than a fruit salad. Says berries, didn’t see one. If apple, orange and a few pieces of Kiwi makes a fruit salad. I have complained to...management but nothing is done, and for R95 a rip off.More
