Lovely restaurant right in the middle of the Groot Constantia vineyard. We were seated outside overlooking the grapes and was great but we enjoyed also the interior, very stylish. Great food, I would recommend the liver paté and the tuna and of course great wines!...We tasted 4 different ones, Chardonnay, Buiten Blanc, Shiraz and Pinotage... all of them really good. Nice atmosphere, friendly and caring staff and last but not least great prices. If around a meal here it's really a must!More

We loved the setting on the edge of the vineyard and the quirky chic decor which made for a really good atmosphere. Service was excellent. We enjoyed really good food on our first visit however it was a little off the mark on the second...visit. We both had lamb, different dishes but both a little underwhelming / tough. The menu together with the specials board is extensive, maybe a little too ambitious to get everything right Overall a good experience and we would return.More

We enjoyed a very pleasant dinner after an early evening walk up from lower Constantia through the grape vines of the beautiful Groot Constantia wine estate. It's not a fine dining restaurant but good honest food and generous portions. Service was very good (a big...thank you to Abigail Kapela) - a lovely smile and positive attitude. One comment - Abigail just needs to pour the carafe of wine with a bit more conviction so as to avoid drips! There was a solo singer which made for a nice atmosphere. We also had dinner at Simon's in January 2023 and hopefully we will have dinner for a third time some time in the future. David & JulietteMore

First of all I want to compliment the manager Coco and our waiter Webster who could not have been more attentive. This unfortunately the only thing I can day that was positive about our experience. I have been visiting Simons for 30 years now and...have never had such an experience as the one last night. The food was frankly, disgusting. Having worked in this industry it could not be more apparent that this restaurant is struggling financially, as the menu options are carefully (from the owners point of view) designed to recoup money. We ordered among other things, the Tuna, which was on the special bord, presented as an Asian dish. It was coated with Asian spices and came with a soy dip....along with a huge pile of mashed potato and vegetables. (Tuna was over cooked and dry) This didn't marry at all and unfortunately not one element of the dish was well cooked or presented. I cannot understand how anyone could design a menu with this combination in situ, it was just horrible. The starters were not good, my daughter had duck spring rolls, which were tasteless, with the inside of the rolls spongy and the meat tasteless. The babeotie parcels were over fried, taste was so so. Lamb shank, had by my father spent the whole night repeating on its self and left him feeling nauseous. When this was all pointed out to the staff in became evident that despite their very best efforts they were not in the position to rectify any of this. No complimentary drinks, coffees were offered and reading between the lines they were obviously not authorised to do so. The restaurant was empty, which is consequently not surprising, despite the beautiful setting. People save your money, book elsewhere. This restaurant has drastically gone down hill. With the poor staff doing their best despite clearly having their hands tied. In a place such as Constantia there are plenty of far better establishments to chose from Whoever owns this restaurant is trying to save money, and it shows. This is not acceptable even in this current climate. The owners have zero idea how to construct a menu, which with the abundance of beautiful fresh ingredients found in the Cape is just inexcusable. Owners.....get your act together! Your meaness is showing! You are ruining your own restaurant and its unfair of you to pass this clearly desperate situation on to your staff. Take responsibility for yourselves and get some professional advice as to how to construct and present a menu. People....seriously. go elsewhere!!!!!!More

We have visited Simon's on a few occasions, but this time we were disappointed. The starters were quick to arrive and the salt and pepper squid and duck spring rolls were delicious. That's where the good ended I had to request a 2nd drink from...another server as ours seemed to go AWOL. My empty glass was only cleared when I had completed my 2nd drink, along with my 2nd glass. Our starter plates were only cleared when the main meal was served. My wife's steak was more medium than the requested medium rare. My peri peri chicken thighs were tasty. There was no sign of any server or manager to ask about the meal until it was completed. We were not offered coffee or desserts after the meal. This is one of our favorite spots ,but with a poor overall experience, I am will look for somewhere else to spend my money. A dissapointing night.More

I’m not entirely sure how this establishment has four stars, I’ve really tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but the staff, the food and the attitudes of everyone who works there is horrid.

'Twas the night of Christmas, and all through Simons, Not a diner was happy, not even the children. The service was questionable, the food was a bore, And the atmosphere left us wanting much more. The fish, potatoes, and rice, oh what a shame, Dry...and flavorless, they were all to blame. The meat was sitting under heat lamps for far too long, Tough as tekkies and lacked any taste, oh what went wrong? The desserts were a letdown, stale pastries galore, Shop-bought mince pies, we've had better before. For R995 per person, it was not at all quite a deal, But the disappointment was all too real. When we voiced our concerns, the managers didn't care, They just wanted us gone, it was quite unfair. The chefs were rude, unprofessional too, Asking for a plate, they said, "Go back to you!" And when I asked for clean tongs, what a sight, They cleaned then in dirty water, oh what a fright. Unacceptable and unhygienic, it's true, Simons Restaurant, what happened to you? The restaurant itself was a filthy mess, Papers, old food, and rubbish, oh what distress. No cleaning or preparation for the second sitting, It was clear they weren't bothered, no time for fitting. Overall, Simons Restaurant was lacklustre, Charging high prices for a dining experience that was a total disaster. Don't host events here, unless you improve your game, Better food, service, and cleanliness, it's not just a claim. Managers and staff, get some training, please, Handle large groups with finesse and ease. A dedicated cleaning team, and another to serve, will help calm your diners nerves. This Christmas was ruined, a terrible plight, Simons Restaurant, you gave us a fright. So heed this warning, and take it to heart, Improve or suffer a load of non-returns; it's truly time for a fresh start. All my outreach thus far has been totally ignored is that because you don't care? Simons Restaurant, come on be accountable, and make good, to you I dare!More

We went for a family lunch of 9 adults and 3 children to celebrate a birthday. The staff were very accommodating, even providing blankets due to the chilly wind outside. The food and wine were fantastic and the ambiance outside under trees memorable. Thanks again

Worst Christmas lunch we have ever had. Food was absolutely horrible. Not quite sure what was meant to be the starters, the buffet table was confusing and messy. What I think was meant to be the duck was inedible. Main course meats were either dry...& overcooked (turkey) or raw and chewy (Beef). The desserts were just awful, soggy trifle and hard little balls of unknown substance. This overpriced meal will go down in history as the worst restaurant food we have ever had.More

Just the worst meal ever. Looked dreadful. Possibly unfit for consumption. Rare gammon. Snoek pate smelling disgusting. Salads just a mess. No idea what anything was. Large umbrellas being blown over to the point of being dangerous. Whilst they are not responsible for the weather,...felt they would risk customers getting hurt rather than giving money back. Really didn’t care when people complaining Will never return.More
