The food is good - the poke bowl is well made and tasty. The only item I complain about is the Japanese poppers: not only there was not much flavour (aside the chilli heat), but seriously, you can't charge 95 bucks for 3 poppers not...bigger than a thumb finger.More

This restaurant is basically just out of the centre of town. A few of us went to Active Sushi for dinner. They have a' la carte as well as " all you can eat" menus. If I remember correctly the 'ayce' menu range from R199.00...- R299.00-R399.00 As we had not been there before two of us tried the R199.00 and the other 2 the R299.00. They were both really good and definitely worth the money. However, and I have thought This Should Be De Rigueur, for All 'ayce' restaurants, they charge you for every item left on the plate. So order little amounts at a time, you can always get more, rather than wasting good food because you are simply greedy. And no, you cannot take away what you don't finish. The only thing that let them down was their Saki, it was really lousy. Active Sushi, if people complain about the price of it, keep a cheap bottle as well as a better one, as you do with wine. The service is also very good.More

Visited the Active Sushi branch 63 Buitengracht Cape Town, and it was literally THE BEST sushi we have ever had! Presentation was on point and everything was so fresh. Also had the most amazing vegan options, which is so welcoming now a days. Ruva was...our waitress for the evening and the service we got from her was out of this world! Would 120% recommend to everyone. This was our first time visiting this restaurant but will most certainly not be our last.More

Very poor service. Service took a long time. The plate I received was dirty and I didn't even get an apology. After paying I decided to tip a bare minimum because I was not happy with my experience. My waiter, whom was also the owner...of the restaurant decided to add a 10% tip anyways, after telling me that its law in south africa, which it isn’t. He began vocalizing loudly telling me its his restaurant and he can do whatever he wants to. Just to be clear for everyone, he doesn’t have the right to add a 10% tip if you dont feel like the service lived up to it. Cannot recommend this place.More

Service was on point. They have some really well priced and delicious platters that were ready super fast. It's a cute and cozy setting. Priced perfectly for what you get.

Absolutely disgusting. My friends and I are avid sushi eaters, and we have been to many sushi bars around the world. This one is disgusting, overpriced and staff is rude. Only upside is we did not get sick from this place, to our absolute surprise.

Absolutely my favourite sushi restaurant in Cape Town! Prices are decent and the all-you-can-eat special is definitely worth it.

3rd visit to this Sushi restaurant on Bree Street. The platters are good value for money and well presented. The owner popped in during our late lunch visit, no friendly smile and not even greeting his customers. The restaurant was not busy and I was...a bit surprised by his attitude for someone working in the hospitality industry. We had a friendly waiter and we could have beer (there was no beer or beer on tap as advertised on the big screen the last time we had lunch); the kitchen staff looked depressed. Summary: good platters, friendly service, no wine list = no options; you can't bring your wine. Please, give us a few more beverage/wine options as we like to support you in the future.More

Worst sushi restaurant in town. There is so much rice in everything that we could barely taste the fish (so thin it melts). The manager is very rude and gave us no alternative. He brought us food we didn't order, and then charged for items...we couldn't eat. Poor service and terrible food. See picture of the amount of rice. I do not recommend!!!More

We tried really hard to make this a special dinner with our boys before they left for overseas. As always they insist on Active Sushi as they reckon its the best in there is. My husband and boys had the "All you can eat special"...and I had a Miso soup and one set of California rolls. Despite quite a bit of bad reviews I've heard and read recently - we went anyway.. . It was shocking... Yes it was busy - but hell - then up your game and sort that system in the kitchen out. We waited well over half an hour for the first round. Soup - dead average and tasted like - made at last minute.com 45 minutes for the next round and a total lack of urgency to explain. My sushi was pathetic. Salmon roses - the highlight for all my family - were slopped together and literally fell to pierces when trying to pick them up. I felt sorry for our waiter who really felt the brunt of a system he could do nothing about. Management - your downfall is not fixing this or keeping customers happy when things go wrong. I am done with Active - sorry!More
