Just looked up this restaurant online and booked for 5 of us on Easter Sunday. Taxi dropped us outside and it looks a bit dark so was tempted not to go in, so glad we did. Met some of the friendliest people in CT, and food was amazing. Very traditional decor. Waiter explained the menu and recommended some choices. Had... More

I wasn't overly impressed with this place. The interior is great - looks like an African curio shop and there are 'tree houses' you can book for your meal. There are loads of souvenir type objects available for purchase but some other more authentic African items adorn the walls and tables and are also available to buy for a steeper... More

Cape Town is a bit dead on Sunday night and my wife and I were struggling to find somewhere to eat. One of the on street tourist guides pointed us towards here. I've never had Ethiopian food before and what a surprise. Absolutely delicious spice mixes. The restaurant itself looks like an explosion in a curio shop and the staff... More

As a Cape Town local this cute Ethiopian restaurant missed our radar until now. The atmosphere was great and it was a unique experience! We arrived on a busy evening and the restaurant was understaffed and unprepared to accommodate a full restaurant despite us having booked earlier that day. We enjoyed the food (even though it wasn't warm) and presentation... More

Welcoming staff at a charming Ethiopian restaurant in bustling Long st. Delicious meal and busy but fun decor, adds to the ambience of this great find. Best to book beforehand but also ok for walk ins if you are prepared to wait. Very friendly staff and relaxed vibe. Many thanks for a delicious meal - fantastic alternative to touristy restaurants,... More

We had dinner on Tuesday evening at Madam Taitou. The restaurant is centrally situated in Cape Town. The food is authentic Ethiopian and served traditionally. The ambience is a gift to the senses. Well worth a visit for the visitor looking for a truly African experience.

Since my wife has difficulty climbing stairs, this new Ethiopean restaurant was a good alternative to Addis in the Cape (with its many stairs to climb). The food was really tasty with lots of injira to use instead of eating utensils. The decor was also very interesting - nothing like eating in a cluttered African curio shop - talk about... More
