Providing recommendations, the waitress explained that the lamb shoulder was gently braised for hours, resulting in a soft, succulent and tender main course which would leave us in awe. In fact, it was served to table dried to stone, having perhaps spent the 40 minutes for which we waited for it under heat lamps in the kitchen. A lovely sauce... More

Savoyowner, Owner at Savoy Cabbage, responded to this review

As the owner of Savoy Cabbage I have to exercise my right to respond to a recent erroneous review. No one enjoys receiving a bad review however my main concern is that this review is actually factually incorrect. I do not object to constructive criticism and clearly things do occasionally go wrong in the best of kitchens. What I do... More

We had a show booked nearby and had to be seated there by 8 so were on a tight schedule. I had let the restaurant know this earlier though and they were absolutely fantastic in terms of advising which dishes might take longer to prepare and so on. We were a little unsettled on arrival to see the barred door... More

This restaurant was recommended by friends who have been going there ever since it opened. The memu was varied and based on fresh local produce. Amazing food, in fact so good I can't wait to go back! Service was attentive and friendly whilst maintaining a discrete distance - although my glass never empty I did not feel like I was... More

Having spent two nights eating at the V & A, phoned on the off chance of getting a table at this restaurant......good decision. The food was excellent with a different style menu good service and recommendations from the waiter and a nice atmosphere. It cost less than the V & A and is worth the short taxi ride.

Wow, what a hidden gem! You'd not really notice this place from outside but you'll pass the best restaurant we found on our recent trip to Cape Town. We were offered a wonderful reception, had a great table and Alison was THE best server! She knew how to look after customers and her knowledge of the menu was first class.... More

I have been visiting the Savoy Cabbage almost since its inception. Under Peter Pankhurst I thought it had evolved into one of the very best restaurants in South Africa and displayed a longevity that is almost unknown in Cape Town. It appears more loved by Americans and Europeans. I had not been for several years and was surprised to see... More

My wife and I have just had dinner at Savoy Cabbage and the whole experience was extremely underwhelming. The food was at best average. Our puddings had to be sent back: one was burnt and one was tepid. The bill was just over R1000 including service making it the most expensive dinner we have had during our two week holiday... More

Been visiting Cape Town regularly for over ten years and Savoy Cabbage was an early find. Other fine dining places have been and gone or gone distinctly "off the boil" but Savoy Cabbage remains consistently good and reliable. The service is outstanding, educated, bright young staff who have been well trained and managed. One chef change in 11 years I... More

After reading good reviews we spent an evening at Savoy Cabbage but were very disappointed. Service was good but food was poor. The butternut and feta starter was overdone and tastless, the lamb dry with little sauce. I asked for more sauce which they kindly supplied but charged me for! Never in all my fine dining around the world has... More

Description
Enjoy creative contemporary cooking in a visually exciting venue. With its historic Table Mountain stone and old brick that dates back to the 18th century, architect Leon Saven's design is complemented by glass, concrete and exposed ducting. Cabbage motif chandeliers and salt dishes, fine table appointments and impeccable service reflect outstanding attention to detail. The menu alters daily, using the freshest local produce and combines unusual flavours to excite the palate of the discerning diner. A boutique wine list which is very reasonably priced.
