Having been told how great this restaurant is we decided to try it.. There were four of us and all agreed that it was average. I chose the tomato tart which had uncooked soggy pastry in the centre. Two average lamb chops were garnished with a very tasty purée and canelini beans. My husbands chicken liver parfait was good but... More

We got in at short notice on a Saturday night - that's a hint of sluggish demand. We'd heard good things about the place but also that it was off its best. The menu is varied and interesting, the service professional, attentive and friendly. We had game (zebra and kudu), sweetbreads, gazpacho, beef tartare and fish - as I said... More

Arriving in Cape Town in early evening, our hotel recommended a visit to the Savoy Cabbage restaurant which was nearby. We had read about the restaurant prior to leaving the UK and realised that it has been around for some considerable time. Delightfully, the design, welcome, service and cooking was very much up to very good current standards. No hesitation... More

I read many great things about this place and decided to book for a family member's birthday. I booked days in advance and specifically asked for a nicer table for a special birthday. We were a party of 5 and got seated right by the door. After we all complained to the arrogant and un-accommodating manager, we had eventually given... More

I had high expectations however even though they say they are vegetarian friendly there was a very limited choice. The food I had was not particularly interesting or tasty. I found this restaurant a disappointment.

Cabbage savoy was a recommendation by a friend. Cabbage although a small establishment, exceeded my expectation after having dine at several waterfront restaurants. Great place to dine if you like game. Had the Eland which is found in West and South Africa while my friend had the Duck. Done to succulent and perfection. The food is bit salty but then... More

Reviewing 2 weeks after visiting and apart from lamb chops which were very good we are struggling. Outstanding mentions go to staff, wine recommendations for the lamb were spot on - even giving us a glass that wasn't on the 'by the glass' menu. Ah yes, it's coming back, I had pork 2 or 3 ways, had to send the... More

I'd been looking forward to my first trip to Savoy Cabbage for months after a friend and regular visitor to the place booked for NYE meal. We had a table for 6, in a great location upstairs in the restaurant and paid in advanced for the set menu. The set menu for the evening failed to live up to expectation,... More

Went with a group of friends, ambience was buzzing but overall the food was a let down. I enjoyed the tomato tart and the beef tartar but it didn't blow my mind. Also found the kingklip main and the fillet very bland. We enjoyed the setting, but won't be returning as the food is a massive let down.

Description
Enjoy creative contemporary cooking in a visually exciting venue. With its historic Table Mountain stone and old brick that dates back to the 18th century, architect Leon Saven's design is complemented by glass, concrete and exposed ducting. Cabbage motif chandeliers and salt dishes, fine table appointments and impeccable service reflect outstanding attention to detail. The menu alters daily, using the freshest local produce and combines unusual flavours to excite the palate of the discerning diner. A boutique wine list which is very reasonably priced.
