We enjoyed two great dinners at this restaurant, which although it specializes in fish, also offers very good meat. My children ordered the trio of meats (ostrich, great kudu and springbok). The service was excellent and the quality/price ratio was fantastic, we paid less than €100 with a bottle of wine.

Lovely setting although requested a view and got seated in the middle of the room. I understand if restaurant was busy wasn’t mentioned. Service was too fast between meals. Especially if it’s a leisurely chat with two couples having a good time. Between the starter and main meal was exceptionally fast . What really angered us was that we are hosting these international guests who offered to treat us to dinner & the wine list was not on the table on arrival . So when asked for menu, waiter said what do you feel like and we just then ordered at his suggestion the aperitif until main course , our host, then got the order off the wine list , unfortunately once the dessert had arrived, instead of asking for the menu again, our host asked for a glass of dessert wine and a suggestion was made! Later that night the host mentioned that he had paid an exorbitant amount per glass for the dessert wine ! As this had been a suggestion from our waiter , I was appalled at this rather awful awkwardness about a restaurant that had come highly recommended! Although the food was really amazing! It kind of makes one feel uneasy about returning or making any recommendations in future!

We have been to Baia several times before but this time in a temporary location until it moves back to the front of the V & A Waterfront later this year. We were accommodated without an advance booking although they were quite busy. As indicated in the name seafood is the mainstream product and we enjoyed two excellent starters and mains, large portions and no room for desserts. Washed down with an excellent Sauvignon Blanc from Vergelegen. If you don't like seafood there are meat options. Service from Steve was exemplarary and in spite of some other reviews we felt standards have been maintained and will have no hesitation in returning.

Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your experience at our temporary location. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed our seafood, generous portions, and excellent wine selection. It’s also wonderful to know that Steve’s service stood out and that you felt our high standards have been maintained. We appreciate your patience during our transition and look forward to welcoming you back when we return to the waterfront later this year! Best regards, The Baia Team

Keep calm and make sure you are informed of the price of what you are ordering. You will be recommended dishes that are not on the menu card. We were 4 people who were recommended some starters. It was enough for a whole meal, so good that we didn't get to order main courses. The waiter was somewhat smart and overbearing. Food good, but expensive (paid approx. 7000 ZAR)

Delicious seafood— we tried what our waiter suggested— the seafood platter and the Tre Pesci dish. Way too much food, but we were so glad to taste fresh well prepared local fish. The wines and water were cheap, the service very friendly. We had delicious starters, too, I had the chicken liver parfait with lovely berries and compote; my husband had the crab salad. but next time we might want to figure out how to make room for dessert.

Quality restaurant and they know it. Fish is a speciality as it is on the Victoria & Alfred waterfront but steak is also offered. A chilled sparkling wine from the locality is always a good way to start which was followed by steamed black mussels cooked in Riesling white wine, flavoured with chervil, garlic and cream came in at 152 Rand and worth every cent. We ordered a bottle of Iona Monopole sauvignon blanc 2023 from the Elgin Highlands to accompany it. Both food and wine were 10/10. My main course was a kingklip (fish) fillet pan fried in ginger, garlic and coriander served with stewed vegetables at 289 Rand. 10/10. There is nothing not to like here, even the pickiest of diners would struggle to find complaint. I complimented the wine waiter (the sommelier was not on duty) and he agreed with my praise of the wine. I don't know who was on mussels duty that night but he was on his game. This is a restaurant to take your wife to if you have fallen out with her! Thoroughly recommended.

one of the best seafood restaurants we have ever been too, and we have to a lot... very fresh seafood, perfectly prepared, service is very attentive and efficient without being too intrusive. Interesting wine selection. Would definitely recommend to all seafood lovers!

Landed in Cape Town a few hours ago & as we live seafood this was an obvious choice. Service from the off set we were made to feel like the guy couldn’t really be bothered & we certainly weren’t made to feel like valued customers. Seafood bisque to start taste wise was good but temperature was lukewarm warm. Main course line fish & lobster tail (which was quite nasty & chewy) my husband had King fish which was much better - both dishes were Luke warm. Of course we weren’t asked if everything was alright so we just got the bill & left very very under whelmed & disappointed ! Would not recommend !

Dive into a culinary voyage at Baia SeaFood where the ocean's bounty meets the exceptional service and warm hospitality. From the moment we stepped through the doors, it was evident that this establishment is not just a restaurant; it's a heaven for seafood lovers and enthusiasts alike. The impeccable service, led by Elwin, set the tone for an unforgettable dining experience. His attention to detail and genuine warmth made us feel like honored guests from the moment we arrived. My sincerest gratitude for his impeccable guidance during our dining experience. His expertise and passion for food and wine truly shone through, and I am immensely grateful for the unforgettable culinary journey he created for us. His thoughtful selection of dishes and wine pairings showcased a deep understanding of flavor profiles and an awesome ability to elevate our dining experience to new heights. Despite it being a late Sunday evening and the restaurant technically closed, the kitchen, under the expert guidance of Brian, welcomed us with open arms. His culinary prowess shone through in every dish, leaving us astounded by the depth of flavor and freshness of the seafood. Everyrhing was cooked to perfection. Wowwww!!! And what is more and truly sets this restaurant apart is the genuine care and kindness of the owners. Their warmth enveloped us like a comforting embrace, making us feel right at home. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality in today's world, and it's a testament to the heart and soul poured into every aspect of this establishment. From the delectable dishes to the unparalleled service and the welcoming atmosphere, Baia is more than just a seafood restaurant; it's a culinary journey that leaves a lasting impression on the heart. If you're searching for an extraordinary dining experience that goes beyond exceptional food, look no further.

Baia Seafood Restaurant is a must-visit for seafood lovers. The highlight of my recent dining experience was the Langoustines in national sauce. The friendly and attentive staff ensured every aspect of our meal was perfect, making us feel warmly welcomed and valued. I highly recommend Baia — it was the perfect ending to our trip to Cape Town.

Service satisfactory, great ambience, very average food at very high prices, most guests had fish and felt as I did. Fish generally lacked flavor , vegetables bland and rice tasteless. We shared only 1 desert-pear and ginger tart with honeycomb ice cream which was the best of all. Will not return in a hurry- so many restaurants in Cape Town serving much tastier food at more reasonable prices

We were looking forward to a nice evening. When we entered the manager of maitre de was on the phone. He hurriedly told the host where to seat us. It was on the patio. We never requested that nor were asked if that would be suitable. We rejected that area and were seated at a small table in the dining room. We saw other parties of 2 come in and they were given 4 top tables in a more desirable location. Service was lackluster and they seemed so disinterested in us. In fact we never saw the same server twice. We had OK. food, chicken which was tasty but nothing special. We shared an appetizer, some sort of dumpling, and glasses, not a bottle of wine, maybe that was why they were not interested in us. We skipped dessert because they never came back to offer it. No one was friendly or thanked us for visiting. I would not recommend this restaurant, I see others have had a similar experience.

Baia is a true luxury restaurant. The staff is attentive, professional and efficient, the elegant and discreet furnishings. What is truly sumptuous is the food: local fish dishes of the highest quality, impeccably cooked and with very generous portions, which is unusual for elegant restaurants in Italy. The wine list is not very rich but of an excellent standard. The price is high compared to South African standards but you still spend about half compared to an equivalent Italian restaurant.

We ate here teo weeks ago after first arri=pving to Cape Town and it was a good experience, which is why we returned.....however tonight was a bad comedy. The kitchen could not keep up with the amount of customers. Thw wait staff was chaotic. All in all a totally sifferent experience than our first...unfortunately they will not get another chance as we would not go there again. Over 45 min between the apps and our main, no offer of more beverages. But a neighboring table had it worse at over an hour to correct a kitchen or wait staff error? There are many better choices in town.. Also the giant prawns were overcooked and obviously beyond their prime when they were grilled. Also whoever made the Puri is not an indian cook.

Just for the views over the harbor and of Table Mountain this restaurant is worth a visit. This, of course, comes with a price tag which is why I rate value for money as poor compared to other sea food restaurants in Cape Town. The choice of sea food is very good and the waiters are very knowledgable to explain the different varieties. Good choice of wines, too.
