We happened on this place by chance, as our first preference of restaurant was fully booked. Carne was also fully booked, but managed to fit us in with no fuss. Boy am I glad they did, as the whole experience was great! Kevin, our waiter...was fantastic. He explained the menu to us, offered recommendations and was efficient at ensuring we had everything we needed - all with a smile!! The outstanding dish for me was the lamb ravioli - it was excellent. For me skirt steak was too chewy and underdone for medium - however my husband really enjoyed it and our friend loved his sirloin. The smashed potatoes were very yummy. The restaurant...is pretty small so be prepared for it to be noisy when full and the windows closed. We sat outside on the terrace and I had a great view down Kloof Street to the waterfront.More

It is the WORST steak house I have ever been and I have been to many, anything will be obviously way better choice then this and here is why: 1/ Service. Not existed. Waiters hardly speak English. No bread, no forks after food arrived, forgot...our water, no salt or pepper (reminded 5 times), after food arrived NO FORKS! after food was finished - they brought us sauces!!! At the end of the meal waiter asked us why we did not left him tip !!! 2/ No game meat and we came for it. Half of the things advertised on the menu not existed. 3/ Food - below average. if not worse. Meat arrived cold and I am not the first writing this complaint here about it. You can definitely can get a better steak at a street market. 4/ Spent about 120 USD on a meal for 2 people and I feel totally crooked, this restaurant deserves to be bankrupt and closed. 5/ If it was in the US, management would be paying for your dinner for such f. up. I definitely will take it further on all the services possible to put this 'nice' place out of business. Would put zero star, can't, putting 1 - too much for this sham. Avoid if you can, Cape Town has many great restaurants and some worst ones, Carne Kloof is the WORST YOU CAN GET!More

if meat is what you are after, more especially a great steak then this is the place to visit. we loved the intimate small space, cosy atmosphere and good service. it feels a little like being in Europe . Can highly recommend
