This spot was fine for dinner. Close to our hotel - able to walk there. Food was pretty good. Had large portions - enough to take some back.

Dreadful experience. If you are South African, don’t bother visiting, the owner only prioritises foreigners. The owner may pander to his foreign guests but if they can’t be bothered to produce a meal (probably microwaved anyway) in over an hour. They should probably try another...business.More

While I liked my meal just fine including the Cabernet Sauvignon, my husband was a bit disappointed in his lamb. It was over cooked and hard and crusty on the outside. Still he like the cab too.

I had a wonderful breakfast here and a rooibos cappuccino. It was absolutely wonderful. Fresh salmon and lemon on either a croissant or an English muffin served with hollandaise sauce

Stayed across the street at the Protea Hotel and thought we would check out the Bistro. What a great choice! We were eating off-hours, only another couple there, although as we were finishing, the dinner crowd was arriving. We were disappointed that they were out...of our first two choices, the lamb and the kingklip, but I loved the calamari and my friend was very happy with her pasta selection. Had we had the opportunity, we would have eaten there again.More

The outside terrace is well decorated and the location is lovely, although there is no sea view. The food is good too, although priced at the higher range. Overall, a nice place for a Sunday brunch, if you can manage to convince the staff that...you are worthy of attention! I have been quite a few times and I have always needed to get up and walk to a staff member to request service, despite the staff having noticed us entering the venue, each time.More

My husband and I are part time residents of Sea Point for 5 months each year since 2002 and eat out several times a week. We came to this hotel and had some sundowners just over a week ago and were very impressed with the...service. The duty manager seemed to be very on the ball and she paid a lot of attention to detail. The customers next to us on that day ordered some food and it looked very tasty. Because of this we decided to come and have supper yesterday evening with my niece who lives in London and was visiting us for the first time in South Africa. My husband ordered the lamb shanks, I ordered a rare fillet steak and my niece a rare sirloin. The wine we ordered was not available so we ordered a bottle of the house red @ R140 a bottle. All our meals arrived at once the Lamb shanks were good, my steak was rare although a little cold but I didn’t want to send it back as it would not be rare if reheated. My niece's sirloin was medium rare erring on the side of medium. We called the waiter over and after some debate, he took the steak away and returned after some time with the meal and stated that the chef had looked at it and said it was rare. After our protests , he then proceeded to ask a man on an adjoining table what his opinion was and still insisted that the steak was rare. Over the past few weeks we have been eating at the Busbey Grill and the Golosso and ordered the steak and each time it has been perfectly cooked and rare as requested. The waiter eventually after this “stewards enquiry” offered her a fillet as an alternative. By the time her meal arrived my husband had finished his meal and I had eaten more or less all of mine so we ordered a couple of glasses of house red to keep us busy whilst we waited for my niece to finish her meal. When the bill arrived we noticed we had been charged R65 per glass for what appeared to be half a glass compared to the glass I had last week which was full. At no time was any apology given. I must say the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel our treatment was very humiliating. No dessert menu or coffees/liqueurs were offered and all the staff apart from one female member had disappeared by the time we gave up and requested the bill. I emailed a complaint and was contacted by the owner who said she would address the matter with her staff. I thanked her for taking the trouble to ring me but I still feel let down by the experience.More

We were a group of 7, 4 ladies were from Scotland. We thought reataurant would be a goid idea the night before the Cape Town cycle race. The food was extremely average with most of us not enjoying our meal. The waiter was very patient...and eager to hear constructive criticism. The owner was abrupt and rude and had no idea how to address his customers. This was the only restaurant in Cape Town on a ten day tour with International Guests where the food and service was below average.More

We had brunch at The Bistro on a Saturday morning. It was very peaceful for a Sea Point venue -- what a lovely change! Almost all the tables were occupied, but the chatter was muted along with the interior (black floors and walls!). It was...the perfect place to catch up with a friend -- relaxed and quiet enough for easy conversation. The service was very good, lovely waiters. I had the Promenade Salad. It was fresh although nothing special. Leaves, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, avo, ricotta (I think, might've been a bland feta), and olives. The olives had pits and I bit into one unawares! This was the only gripe I had -- I would never serve a salad with olives + pits without warning the diner. The Americano coffee was excellent. I had it black although a big jug of milk was served with it. I hear The Bistro is dog friendly, which gives this place top marks from me!More
