My wife and I had the enjoyment of eating at Spasie last week, I have to agree with other reviews that this is an experience rather than a visit to a restaurant, if you are expecting the latter you are going to be in for...More

A really unique dining experience. card games and classic decor, rustic and funky all in one. the menu and bar prices a bit over the top for what is served. But a unique experience regardless.More

Brought my sister here for her fortieth birthday. Amidst the city with the most amazing cuisine, this restaurant boasted (and charged) the highest quality experience. Up front the restaurant offered a "dinner party" experience with a set price, including multi purse food and wine pairings....More

We wanted to go to Spasie for months - since we first read about it and our first evening here was an unfortunate one. You can read all the reviews above as they are very accurate. We arrived also just after 7 - absolutely starving...More

Disappointing 5 course meal. Instead of wine pairing they offered a beer pairing. The starter was very small, the third plate with the Springbok Tataki was nice. The main course with 3 sorts of roasted meat was burned. As for vegetables I had one tiny...More

Great restaurant concept: underground art space with experimental chef cuisine. Not really Michelin starred dishes but wonderful atmosphere, very interesting guests also. Only thing to complain about: no credit cards. There was no ATM around and it was difficult to pay.

Description
[spasie], Cape Town's most enchanting underground restaurant offers guests the opportunity to experience something new, exciting and fresh every week as our own executive chef, Nicholas Charalambous, and our guest chefs showcase their talents, skills and creativity. [spasie] can best be thought of as a blank canvas, a collaborative space that transforms each night with a new chef, new menu. Our concept is simple - each week, South Africa's top chefs and young, rising stars to come in for two-nights only and create a custom menu just for you. We call this our Chef's Table and bookings are limited to no more than 30 guests for this intimate food and wine experience. On Wednesdays, [spasie] hosts Cape Town's first invitation-only gourmet speakeasy where guests can expect a more casual atmosphere but still an incredible food experience. Add to that some incredible wines from local, boutique producers and hand-crafted cocktails by our barman and you've got a winning evening. On Saturdays, our executive chef Nicolas Charalambous takes guests on a curated journey through food and wine that can best be described as personal, intimate and absolutely amazing. Nick prides himself on using only the freshest, most ethically sourced meats and produce and creating a menu based on seasonality to create true magic on the plate.
