Visited two years in succession and enjoyed both visits. The staff are very accommodating and actually remembered us! Our thanks to Wayne, Marvin and Cliff! Very old style friendly pub with good location in Seapoint.

We stayed locally and popped into Brian's nearly every day on our way out (sober) and on our way back (not). Maybe in need to a touch up but welcoming and cheap drinks. we had great fun sampling some local shots that were tasty and certainly hit the spot! Great place for a quiet drink in the afternoon to watch any sport thats on. If you are in the area I would visit and when we go back to Cape Town Brian's will be one of our first points of call!

Willemwillem gave it a bad review twice. So he had to be a sucker for punishment or he njoyed it so much he couldn't remember it. Definitely a local pub. Not restaurant or bar but proper pub. Loved it for the assimilation of different people who walk different lives. Interesting stories and cold beer. Isn't that what a pub is all about?? Decor plain but the people friendly and sports on TV. Did I mention the cheap drinks?

Husband went here a few times (erm 5) to watch football, cricket and liked the pub atmosphere.. he met John and felt like he was going to his local pub.. I liked that...also the beer was cheaper than weatherspoons 😆.

I am absolutely astounded by the treatment I received from the Bartender on 22 Jan 2023 Sunday night. The bartender refused to serve me and would serve my husband who was white… being in South Africa and Cape Town of all places things like this should not be happening… absolutely disgusting behavior from this man that put an entire bitterness in my mouth for a looong time

First of all, whoever said it's a gay bar is mistaken. Although it is gay friendly and will not refuse service to a gay or lesbian person, it is not a gay bar. Secondly, it is sad that the owner had to succumb to the scum who pretends to be a lawyer and take down the old SA flag which is protected under the Constitution. But a great pub and I like going there for a pint or two and meeting such interesting people and I like the barmen. Wayne the manager is a great guy and so is the owner Brian Dunn. If people don't like Brian's...........then the answer is simple - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!

We wanted to go for a drink being in town. We immediately saw the old South African flag decorating the bar. This flag is regarded as a symbol of racial opression and Apartheid as a system brutal to non-whites. I am appaled to see that such a place is even permitted on TripAdvisor as a social media platform. I would highly recommend that it be removed from this platform. We didn't even go further than the door, but from what we saw it looked shabby in any case.

After work me and my friend wanted to sit down and have a drink to rewind. When walked into the pub it was empty beside a couple right at the bar. The barman on duty failed to acknowledge as a matter of fact he did not give us an ounce of attention. His full attention was on the couple that was there. He complete ignored us and not once did he bother to turn around. Something tells me that they must be his friend. We tried several times to get his attention but once again blatantly ignore us. At this point we were very angry at not just the service but the rudeness and disrespect shown by the pub. We did not bother to try again and simply got up and left. I also want to mention as well that the pub is run down and in need of some series revamp. I strongly advise that people should avoid the pub at all cost and spend your hard earn money somewhere else. A place were you can get a drink service and respect. Would live to give this place a a negative five star if I could

It does what it says on the sign, it's a basic pub. It's a bit run down and shabby but for a late night drink it's always there when you need it. Don't expect chic decor and don't expect a smoke free clean atmosphere or your in for a bit of a Shock. Bar staff always pleasant and helpful and some of the cheapest beer prices in the area however beer choices are limited to the basic SA old brews. Some more up to date or modern choices of alternative craft beer would greatly enhance the appeal to the place.

I was there and after one beer left. It had been recommended via tripadvisor but what a deception. Noisy, smoky, dirty.

The family had gone on a safari but me and my son in-law didn't want to go,we were walking back from V&A. And decided to pop in from a pint.glad we did.great ambiance, the place reminded me of a typical pub from the 70s,ended up having a couple of pints,I found out later that it's a gay bar ,but heyho live and let live, the beer was only 30 rand for a pint(bonus),don't know what it was like in the night as we only went there in the day and made it our local while in Capetown

Bar staff friendly, drinks cheap and theres a pool table. With a pint of castle costing R30 and a game of pool R5. It is however in need of a clean and paint job.
