Despite the location in a shopping mall this is an excellent restaurant. The fillet steak was perfect and 3 other meals in my company also first class. Good service. The only drawback is having to go back into the mall to use the public toilets...as there are none in the restaurant. It is wise to book.More
We had a fantastic meal at NV 80. We will certainly repeat if we get back to Cape Town.
My only regret is that I forgot the name of our server. Beyond the excellent service, her personality added an extra layer to the experience. Witty...with just the perfect touch of mischievous. (May 17 table of 4 near the bar).
As for the food- FANTASTIC! Three of us had the 4 course tasting menu. Oysters, Prawns in a wonderful garlic butter sauce, a wonderful ribeye, cooked perfectly, and a sweet treat for desert. Each course came with a paired wine. Our 4th went with the Ceaser salad and a sirloin and was delighted.
Cocktails, 4 course dinner with wines, all for a. Unbeatable price.
Tip- steaks come with a side. One person get the chips and the other the veggies. Plenty of both to share.More
We had a pleasent experience at this restaurant.
The service was quick and friendly.
The fillet steak was very nice, my wife had the lamb rump whom says it 'was alright'.
The portions are very generous, the sides would definitely serve two per dish. The...prices are very reasonable.
We had fillet steak, lamb rump, 4 sides, Garloc Rolls to start, a wine and a cider which came to R900.
Overall, would recommend coming here.More
This place serves great steak. Tricky to find as you need to go into a small shopping centre then up an escalator then turn left where you will see a huge door.
Restaurant is dark decor and staff were friendly.
Great value for money once...more with a fillet being around £13 for 250g and including 1 sideMore
My husband and I visited yesterday lunchtime and had a pleasant lunch having read many good reviews. As a previous diner said the garlic roll was to die for. I had the fillet, whilst my husband opted for the rump, the only problem was the...degrees of doneness were mixed up on our steaks. Since one of us wanted rare and the other medium rare we didn't make a fuss and we couldn't tell if it was the fault of the kitchen or the waitress but it's something to watch out for. The steaks are huge so go hungry.More
From the shopping mall, head confidently up the escalators and through the solid wooden door at the top because there lies an arguably unexpected but definite top rate dining experience. Casual & relaxed in environment and style, the food packs a definite punch. Certainly the...meat ( and the steak in particular ) is of a quality rarely offered anywhere, worldwide and it’s cooked exactly to order. Service is good and tonight, V for Victor ( Co-owner with brother N - Neville ? ) was very visible as each table he acknowledged and engaged. Value-wise, with Sterling sitting so favourably against the Rand, it’s fair to say you’d pay at least double in London for what you get here…and with significantly reduced levels of quality. Top marks over very many years…More
The best restaurant I have been to while visiting Cape Town and I have been to some amazing places. Everything we ordered was beyond delicious! I had to restrain myself from licking the plates! Excellent and warm service by Shawn and his team. I had...the oysters and lamb. Both were exceptional. My son is usually a small eater, but he ate all his calamari and surf and turf. And don’t forget the garlic roll and heavenly mash. Definitely also try the martinis and leave space for the desserts. I heard it was good but this far exceeded my expectations!More
Dined twice at NV80 while on a recent trip to SA taking advantage of their 2 different set menus both of which were excellent value and with lots of choice.
The weekend menu @ 395R is 4 courses and a wine pairing is included in...the price ( granted the glasses of wine are small) but it's a nice way to sample the cooking and whet you appetite if you want to return which I did during the week for the weekday set dinner menu - 270/330R for 2/3 courses - portions were bigger on this menu but no wine so you have to purchase a bottle - no BYO here , wine list is a little expensive compared to the food.
The steaks were good on both menus and cooked as requested , appetizers were nice on both occasions and nice to be offered bread and butter when seated.
Service was good but not outstanding even though it was not terribly busy. It is still a good choice to eat on Regent Road if you are staying nearby.More
First off, our meal was brilliant, the owner and front end staff fantastic.
We arrived without a booking and was very pleasantly informed that we could wait at the bar and wait for 20/30 minutes - a little optimistic as we discovered but saw many...‘dead sitters’ holding tables for up to an hour nursing a cold drink between them. Be it as it may but as I said great food, great front end staff.
Two major irks if I may. The hammering of the kitchen bell became so irritating every few seconds it grinded on our resolve to take our turn to be seated. The kitchen noise was really loud.
Biggest concern was the largish bar person. While being seated at the bar for an hour we watched in horror as he made dom pedro’s. Scooping the ice cream with his fingers immersed deep into the tub as he forced the spoon in is extremely unhygienic. I can say first hand that the owner himself would be horrified.More
