Having succumbed to lockdown restrictions we have often used the restaurant's excellent take-away service. We recently took our friends to the restaurant, discerning indian food lovers I might add. Needless to say they thoroughly enjoyed the Rogan Josh and the Spinach dish, an excellent meal...was had by all and we all look forward to our next visit. Highly recommended!More

All of the years of coming to Cape Town we had never been to this restaurant and our friends highly recommended this place and we thought it was five star on food & service Ibrahim our waiter was attentive , smiling and looked after us...really well and gave us advice on some of the dishes on offer We started with a Non Veg Platter which had superb samosas , chili bites and Chicken Wings were soft & cooked to perfection and followed with 2 different Chicken Curries one a Karai and the other a House off the bone Southern Indian both were huge in portion size and with rice & butter roti were excellent During the meal we had Jack Black Lager and a wonderful bottle of Haute Cabriere Pinot Noir Chardonnay again the whole experience was five star plus The food on offer was seasoned well in all areas with use of Ginger , Garlic , Coriander being my favorite fresh herbs 🌿 along with Green Chilies plus the Garam Marsala mix by the chefs was off the scale Anyone seeking exceptional food & service and well priced Indian dishes please look no further as it’s worth a visit 10/10More

Best Indian food I've eaten since I returned from the Middle East a couple of years ago. Outstanding paneer, even better dal makhni, and an absolutely spectacular aloo jeera that was all depth and layers of flavour. Naan bread also superb. Our server predicted that...we would be back. He was right.More

The Maharajah has been our local indian restaurant for over 38 years and in that time we have seen many indian restaurants come and go but the Maharajah has always been the best and our favourite by far. From the minute you walk through the...door the warm welcome received is wonderful and Jason, the Manager, and front of house does a superb job and always makes you feel special. This is a small family run restaurant where the food is excellent, full of flavour and always piping hot (including the plates). The portions are very generous which makes it excellent value for money. I can never eat a full portion so always ask for a 'doggy bag' and enjoy the remainder the next day. Over the years I have tried many of the different curries and they are all wonderful. I cannot recommend the Maharajah and Jason and his team highly enough and if you haven't tried this indian restaurant yet then I recommend you do soon!More

While not able to take our weekly wind down by visiting the restaurant in the earlier stages of lockdown, it was stll great to get good value takeaways. We often thought of how Jason and his waiters were gettng on during lockdown and it was...good to see his welcoming smile, hidden behind the mask, as we returned to our favourite restaurant where we could now eat-in again. The meal I had on my 70th birthday celebration was superb, lamb curry medium on the bone cooked to perfection, followed by Vermicelli dessert with ice cream on the side. I can also recommend the draft Jack Black lager. The restaurant had taken advantage of the lockdown to decorate the interior, fit new impressive lighting and to re-varnish the wooden floor. Being less busy and quieter than normal due to the after-affects of lockdown, a refreshing dining experience awaits you. But as a first timer, or as a regular, don't leave it too long to return to the restaurant to avoid being fully booked and unable to get in. Thanks to the owner and all the staff. This family-run restaurant will always by my first choice for indian cuisine in South Africa.More
