Great food, incredible atmosphere and wonderful coffee... Truth! I enjoyed two cups of the amazing coffee they call "Deep, Dark and Twisted". It has a beautiful flavour and can be enjoyed black or with a small about of milk (cortado). The menu is fun, with...a wide variety of dishes. I enjoyed a "chaka-sukha", their take on local chakalaka (bean and carrot stew" mixed with shaksuka, a popular middle-eastern dish. I added a fried egg and bacon, which was thick-cut and diced. What a wonderful dish. I'll make sure to go back again. Their fresh-baked breads look incredible.More

Truth Coffee is amazing. I’d take a star off for the steam punk vibe which is not my style, but the coffee and the service was so good that I had a second double espresso just to compare different coffees. I almost gave myself a...heart attack. But it was worth it.More

Coffee cant be faulted, however the arrogant door service and waiters leave a lot to be desired. I live in Vredehoek and used to frequent Truth but i am afraid to say the staff have developed a hightened sense of familiarity with patrons which borders...on patronising and sanctimonius behaviour. I took a guest friend to Truth for his first time in February, he owns a law firm and is an Africaburn regular so one could say, fits their bohemian demographic to the T. He was so shocked at the rude and patronising service that it was beyond embarrasing, and on that note myself and my group of friends who agree with the direction Truth has been taken will never be going back. There are way better alternative coffee shops who may not have the same caliber of coffee but in terms of overall experience they seem to remember who the owner, help and paying patrons are. Truth you are not there to educate anyone. You are there to do your job -professionaly, so a word of advice do that before there is nothing left of what once was a Cape Town institution.More

Truth is, this place was sooo much better when we visited in 2018. Now all the coffee worship and fun introduction has stopped. Bland avocado toast without all the wonderful spices and preserved lemon, cheap orange juice. Such a shame.

Visited twice during our stay in Cape Town. If you love coffee, you must visit. Their own blends are sumptuous, particularly the Black Honey blend, which makes a lovely long black. For the adventurerous, try the coffee with Orange juice. I really enjoyed it. Excellent...pastries and sandwiches and really cool surroundings, too. Service was always superbMore

We loved our experience at Truth. This was the best cup of coffee we had throughout our time in South Africa. I particularly enjoyed their delicious take on “shakshuka” also. The place is also very unique - with the sight and sounds of the beans...being roasted in front of you.More

I don't usually write reviews but I have had the worst experience at this place. There's a new trend I'm starting to pick up on in Cape Town and Truth is no exception to this new trend. Somehow they think they are doing you a...favour, they are so arrogant and rude, especially the doorman, whoever he is. It was the first time I went inside, I have ordered outside before but I noticed that they had entremet desserts and as a chef I was interested to see what they had, so I went inside to have a look cause I wanted to get a couple of them and the doorman was so rude to me cause I just walked in, I wasn't aware of the formalities and he was not at the door when I walked in to inform me of any I just left, I did not feel welcome there As I said I don't write reviews but this was ridiculous and unwarranted. I wanted to spend some money there but they clearly think that they are doing their customers a favour just like alot of places here in Cape Town. It is very dissapointing to see this behaviour from a place that I thought would know better. I don't understand what the hype is and why people support this place, I mean sure they might have good coffee but there are 100 other places that also sell good coffee and there are 100 other places that sell entremet desserts, they really are not special or stand out to the rest Basically it all boils down to this, you are not doing your customers a favour, they are doing you a favour by supporting your business, remember thatMore

I'm cringing at the two-star reviewer calling the coffee cold. Truth is fastidious about everything to do with their coffee. If you want badly-made coffee, don't go to Truth. If you want perfect coffee, awesome, go to Truth. This is one of the best coffee...shops in the world. Don't pressure Truth into making bad coffee. The rest of Cape Town quite likes it perfect. Thanks.More

Our favorite coffee shop potentially in the world - an absolute must visit for coffee lovers. We went there due to all the reviews and it was even better than expected. On the first day we sampled different coffees and had a superb lunch but...we also planned our 3 hour Barista class which we returned for several mornings later. We were taught the basics of espresso/cappuccino making by an experienced friendly barista while gaining more of an understanding into how and where coffee is produced as well as a tasting lesson into the large variety of flavor profiles. During our 6 days in Cape Town, we ended up coming here 3 times as the vibe was terrific and the coffee was top notch.More

This is an almost exact review I gave on Google, expresses my feelings perfectly, so I've added it here as I'm truly baffled by the good reviews this place has. REVIEW: Oh my God, is this the most over-rated place in Cape Town? People go...on and on about the atmosphere but all I encountered was terrible coffee and rubbery eggs. HOW do you get coffee wrong in every iteration? And worst hot chocolate ever. We left most of both cups. The food is terrible and the waiters don’t write anything down, which would be ok if they got the order right, but they don't so you're just hungry for longer. I saw a review below that says they don't put you in a booth as you have to book these, which is nonsense, as we just turned up and were slotted into a booth. We ordered three rounds of scrambled eggs, there were the most rubbery food I have ever encountered, I was considering melting them down and using them for car tyres. A friend ordered bacon with her eggs, which were stringy, tough and overcooked all at once, an amazing feat. The only almost-decent-tasting thing was the scrambled tofu, but even then almost-decent. The almond croissant was delicious so if I'm ever forced to turn up there, that is what I will have, with water. 5 of us had breakfast, coffee, and pastries there and it was around R1,200, so reasonable prices but totally not worth it as utterly gross.More
