Do not go during the brunch hours. The sun makes the entire experience painful. Too hot and no ventilation. The food was wonderful and the presentation was amazing. Unfortunately I think we were seated at the worst table in the restaurant. All the comments about...the temperature were on deaf ears. Poor attention to guest comfort.More

Fine dining at its best. We had fantastic food and wine at this beautiful setting overlooking the V&A harbour in Cape Town. The service and menu was outstanding. Chef happy to change menu for special requests or dietary issues.

A very warm welcome. The service is impeccable. An excellent menu. The food ingredients, cooking and presentation were outstanding. Worthy of one or two Michelin stars!

We visited Pier on Valentine’s Day and had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing and we absolutely loved it. From the minute we entered until we left we were spoiled by the amazing staff - the service was 5 star but the vibe was...still relaxed and fun. Our servers were incredible at presenting the different courses and the wine, it became very interactive which elevated the whole experience. The food was AMAZING and the wine pairing is a must to do the menu justice. We had the best night and I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone!More

I had some wonderful dining experiences in South Africa, but the Pier topped the lot, and is easily one of the best meals I’ve experienced anywhere. Every course was wonderful and bursting with inventive flavours, mainly seafood based as expected, a little bit spicy and...Asian in places. Have a look at their sample menu online. Enjoyed the bit of theatre around the oyster and palate cleansing courses, I will not spoil the surprise. Wine List, and wines by the glass were top notch. As were the staff. An experience not to be missed.More

Visiting CT to for the month of February to escape the english winter we had done quite a bit of "restaurant research" and it has paid off big time in discovering the Pier , A faultless experience ,utterly fabulous. But for our research I doubt...we would have come across the Pier as I would not have associated a world class restaurant with the touristy V &A location.More

One of the best places in Cape Town. A wonderful experience, and a lovely view of the waterfront. The food was perfect, and was one of he best meals we have ever had. Each course packed lots of flavour. Highly recommended.

We have had the good fortune to dine at Pier three times now and each time seems better than the last. It is certainly as good as its sister restaurant La Colombe (which we have been to several times) and that rates as one of...the best in the world. The wonderful concoctions served up on imaginative tableware, highly interactive and friendly staff who give superb commentary on the food all make up for a wonderful way to spend three hours of a Waterfront evening with a great view. The wine list is shorter than La Colombe but plenty to choose from without breaking the bank although the wine pairings are relatively expensive. As others have said Pier is expensive for South Africa but back home in London we would have to pay three times the amount and have to face excessive wine pricing. There is no doubt this is three star Michelin standard at its best. We will be back.More

What an impressive and educational evening! At this Fine Dining experience the waiting staff were as integral as the highly skilled kitchen staff. We had an amazing tasting menu! I heard another customer call it a ‘masterful tapestry of education and experience’, so I’m going...to steal that quote! It was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had. The 11 course menu allows you to experience every flavour and taste possible. The waiter (our star was Warwick) will explain each dish so you can best enjoy it. All allergens can be catered for, even at short notice - gluten free, dairy free and those wishing to avoid the tuna! So professional, the kitchen staff simply adjusted every course as necessary and still provided a fine dining experience. Keegan expertly poached our oysters right at the table commenting on all he was doing and what the ingredients were. They were amazing! It’s very difficult to pick a stand out but my favourite course was the crayfish, pork, spiced coconut and kimchi. Very tasty with a chilli kick. Towards the end Gavin brought his cheese trolley to the table. Unable to choose I sampled all 7 cheeses plus accompaniments. Again a fabulous tasting experience. Eleven courses sounds a challenge but they are small, divine plates and you don't leave feeling overly full. It’s all finished with a secret salt course!! A superb selection of top wines and cocktails are on offer as are wine pairings to match your food. We opted not to have the pairing but most of the tables around us did and it looked impressive as well as being educational on the local vineyards. Good to see such a classy restaurant supporting local winemakers! We ordered a glass of Colmant Brut Reserve from Franschhoek as an aperitif followed by a wonderful bottle of Groot Constantia 2021 Pinotage, both local to Cape Town and a fantastic match to our evening. It really was one of the best experiences we have had and the tasting menu plus coffees took around two and a half hours. By South African standards it’s certainly not cheap but from a UK perspective certainly worth the money and I’m 100% sure it would be treble the price if not more at home. Can only be highly recommended and certainly not to be missed, so go and let Warwick, Keegan, Gavin and the other stars of this top team perform their magic! Two last points, book well in advance and the harbour view is not the best as it’s a working harbour but that’s easily forgotten with the superb food and service!More

Unfortunately we had to cancel our booking due to travel problems in Cape Town. I gave 24hours notice but was told I couldn't have my deposit back as they needed 48 hours. Considering they had held my deposit for over 6months I felt a token...gesture could have been given.More

Cannot fault this restaurant, the whole experience was superb. My friend and I did the luncheon special experience menu with wine pairing. The food was amazing, the presentation just incredible (including some dishes cooked as we watched) and our wine pairings perfect. A special shout...out to Wanda, he is the perfect host and sommelier. Worth the money, I’d go again anytime.More

Wow! What an unbelievable restaurant. We booked here to go for our Birthday celebrations and I don’t regret it. It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in a long time. You get the chefs 11 course menu where you experience every...flavour and taste possible. The waiter will explain each dish and what it is so you can enjoy. My wife was gluten free so they adjusted her courses accordingly but she still had everything I had. I’ve never eaten oysters before, never been my choice but they had poached oyster as one of the courses so wasn’t looking forward to it but it was amazing. This is how you should eat them not sliding down your throat all sloppy and tasteless. My best course was the lamb and the oysters. The 11 courses sounds a lot but they are small plates and you don’t leave feeling bloated. A great selection of wines and cocktails. You can take the menu with a wine accompaniment but I chose not to but wished I had tried that really. It really was one of the best experiences we have had and the meal took around two and a half hours. I will say right out it’s not cheap, even for South African standards it’s expensive but for a special occasion worth it. All in all a very special birthday that we will both remember. I have added some photos to show each course.More

We came here as a dining highlight for our last 4 days in South Africa, having tried the sister restaurant Protege in Franschhoek. It must be said the location is touristy and of course very different to Franschhoek, and probably as a result of this...it didn’t feel as special as we hoped it would be. The theatre of the meal was wonderful with each course presented with flair and the description was fulsome. We had the paired wines and even though the waiter said they had no full time sommelier the pairings were very good. I have attached some photos of the dishes and as I said it was all very professional. Was it the best meal I had in South Africa? I would have to say no. The meal is heavy on seafood but for myself, and my partner agreed, there was no standout dish. The food is relatively good value as a similar meal in London would be three to four times the price. I would certainly go back to Protege but maybe not to Pier.More

The most incredible meal I have ever eaten. Every course was utterly delicious, most courses were presented in delightful, creative ways and a few were honestly mind blowing. So so good and the staff were lovely, welcoming and kind and made us feel at home.
