It was my first time at Cafe Manhattan, I have to say it was a really pleasant experience. Ambiance was nice, it was very busy, fun, lots of different characters, very interesting. We had lovely burgers and good cocktails. Service was really good, staff is very friendly. I will definitely go back

Ok, let's face it - the place needed an upgrade, and the new owners have done just that, and it seems to be paying off for them. Originally this was an iconic gay bar, which then started serving food. Now it is primarily an eatery, and the bar part is more of an incidental. It's no longer exclusively (or even... More

I recently had dinner with 3 friends at Cafe Manhattan. The up beat ambiance is noticeable the moment you arrive and step into Cafe. The food and the service are great and have that edge of interest that you would always expect from a Zingara group establishment. Exciting mix of people, creates a perfect backdrop for a casual interactive night... More

Popped into Cafe Manhattans for what was initially meant to be a quick bite to eat. I had visited the establishment on my last visit and had heard they were now part of Madame Zingara group, so I thought I'd give it another try. How glad I am that I did! The slick, fun, quirky new decor and the sunny... More

My friend and I were on our way to Cape Quarter one afternoon when we noticed Cafe Manhattan - it looked so inviting with the tables and chairs outside (the pics on here are outdated, it's much prettier now!) We had great service from and interesting conversations with Ben and Kyle, the food was great! The ambience was that of... More

This resto bar draws a large gay crowd, but while the ambience and service are tolerable, the food served is not, at least on the night we went. Though all restaurants are permitted the occasional off night, the burgers, and it is mainly a burger place, were dull, flavourless and overdone. The starters were a greasy mess on a plate.... More

Visited here on a Saturday night. Was a good buzz to the place, no free tables, but sat at a not very crowded bar for 15 minutes waiting to be served. Others appearing around us were served straight away? We eventually left as can't abide rudeness or bad service.

We visited on the first day of trading ans found the revamp under new owner's great they gave changed the entire place or the better. The menu is smaller but looks much better we did not eat on our several visits over the week we were in Cape Town, but would not hesitate to go again. The staff were great,... More

The once fun and lively Cape Quarter local has relaunched under new owners and first signs are good. The dark, filthy decor has been replaced by funky new stuff, the rude staff by cute, attentive ones and the food (though we didn't try if) looked a big step up on opening night. Too early to be sure, but looking like... More

I couldn't agree more with KarmaTraveller28. The place which used to be fun, good value and honest food is becoming dreadful. I had exactly the same experience as he did:overcooked burger with avocado that wasn't even ripe, slow and almost rude service, really not worth the premium price...and the new chairs are so uncomfortable! No wonder they closed down their other branch in... More
