We came to Sloppy Sam on a First Thursday evening.
It was obviously busy.
We managed to get a table - the best one.
The service was a bit slow (most probably due to the crowd), but the food was good.
Great selection of middle eastern dishes.
The owner is very involved in the restaurant and makes sure that customers are happy.

We had a solid meal but given the rave reviews from our friends we expected much more. Some of the food was excellent but other dishes were not great. The most disappointing was meet kofta which we did not like. The lamb chops were superb. The restaurant was fairly empty when we were there and lacked atmosphere. Service was average with us waiting some time to get more drinks as staff seemed to focus exclusively on one new table for some time. Overall nice but there are many better places to eat in the area.

Hooman, the chef - owner - host of Sloppy Sam's, is a magician.
He cooks superb food, Middle Eastern but not only, welcomes his customers and finds time to speak with his patrons.
The food is stunning - yet uncomplicated.
Sloppy Sam's is definitely one of the homeliest and tastiest restaurant of Cape Town.

Very good food, very nice location and great service.
Food and drinks are not expensive. The owner prepares the food
himself. I can only recommend this place.

We went as a group of 6 friends. The food was delicious, the staff friendly and they allow you to bring your own wine. Great evening!

There is not much to say except WOW. !!! the new venue of Chef and owner Haman is a gem hidden away in Hudson street on De Waterkant, Due to the corona virus he has adopted his menu to "small plates"tapas style. when you sit down and explore the menu you still do not know what food experience is going to knock you off your chair....Try the pickled Octopus aswell as some Humus just as an indicator and then get ready for your flavour sensation ...
Lamb ribs : nowhere in the world have i tasted anything like this NEVER!!!
Lamb roast and the Lamb roll : you have just recovered from the deliciousness attack of the ribs when the lamb roast hits you onto the floor with delicious disgust!!!! The chicken kebabs are not any worse and the stuffed brinjals and vegetarian dishes blow you away.... You have eaten food like this elsewhere???? NOWAY i promise... Get there and experience it . Big Bay tours and of course my friends and family go here for our regular deliciousness shot

3 of us visited for dinner, small cosy and unpretentious. The place was empty on arrival but several large groups arrived a little later. A warm welcome from the Congolese waiter Patrick, who looked after us with care & charm. I opted for the renowned Lamb Shank whilst my wife & our friend took the Moussaka. The owner/ Chef Hooman well to the fore and gracious. He has wisely restricted the menu to classic staples of Greek cooking, with plenty of wine to choose from. Our food arrived promptly each dish with a pile of crispy chips & a plate of veg to share. My lamb just fell off the bone was moist, succulent and oozing with lemon, garlic, olive oil and Oreganum, delicious. The same applied to the Moussaka, although the Bechemal was a little too runny, the owner with charming candour admitted they had for once used corn not cake flour with disapointing results. We ended with a Cappuccino, Dom Pedro and genuine Greek Coffee. All very good. In short Sloppy Sam delivers 100% on is premis of good food cooked with care. We will be back !!!

Had an amazing experience at Sloppy Sam's! Everything was great! From starters to desert! The calamari was divine! The service is also great and it's not expensive. Definitely a restaurant to consider while in Cape Town.

Staying nearby decided to give it a try. The hummus starter was very watery, not a great taste. My wife’s lamb chops were excellent, cooked to perfection. The vegetables were over cooked and not warm. My chicken tikka kebabs came in a thin sauce which tasted of tikka but the chicken didn’t. Overall we felt a lack of attention to detail and will not return.

We were invited with friends that are regular to this place and knows the chef/Owner very well. We let them choose the food from us and it was simply divine. From the Pita Bread freshly Made/Baked to the Hummus and as a main their Speciality the Lamb this is food cook with love. We were lucky to have a special of Rib Eye cooked to perfection with Pepper sauce, Salad and again freshly made Chips. we loved it. The service was faultless. In my next trip to Cape Town I be back.
Thank you

I was so impressed, stepping off a busy street into a cosy Mediterranean gem. I must be honest the name did not inspire me, but I was delighted to find a homely and welcoming atmosphere. A friendly waitron greeted us, the owner took time to say hello , check what we were ordering, so loved the fact that we were made to feel so welcome, especially on a cold winters night. It just got better, delicious fresh salad, I ordered a simple Greek salad, but the flavours really stood out as the ingredients were excellent quality, fresh and so tasty! The main course lamb was out of this world! All in all superb restaurant experience with wonderful ambience, delicious, it truly felt like I was back in the Med!

Didn't know what to expect with a name like Sloppy Sam, but when I checked out their menu, I could not resist going!
The ambiance is so chilled with dimmed lights and candles. The service is fantastic, with everyone always coming to check on you. Had a very homely vibe to it too! Best of all, it was halaal friendly (i.e. they serve alcohol, but their kitchen is halaal)!
We had chicken kebaab, tzatziki, hummus, pitta, and a bunch of other things. I generally don't have a massive appetite, but suffice to say, we finished the lot! It was so yummy that by the time the tzatziki and hummus was done, we ended up dunking our left over pita into the chicken marinade! Definitely going there again!!!
P.s. It looks like in the evening, they share parking with the company to the right of them (for your convenience)...
