The noise level was very energetic making it difficult to hear even the person next to you - the veal Osso Bucco was really a lamb shank albeit tasty - but not what I expected based upon the menu. Others were also disappointed with their...meals and the error of serving bread croutons on a Gluten Free salad order was not acceptable - look elsewhere.More
The restaurant was excessively noisy, the service was extremely slow, and many of the dishes were not very tasty. Worse, one of our group had special dietary needs, no gluten. Her meal did not arrive and only after fighting to get the attention of staff...did they put her order in. It arrived after everyone else had finished and the way it was done did not meet her dietary requirements. The staff didn’t care and would not comp her meal, making her pay for late contaminated food. There are a lot of good restaurants in Cape Town. This one is very bad.More
We came in for lunch as soon as we landed in Cape town. It was recommended by Paul our Hotel Bellman. Great customer service by Maria. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start. Our mains included Lamb Chops and a side salad and Pork ribs...with a side of salad. Everything was delicious.More
One of my favourite places to eat in CT. Squid or chicken livers with their excellent piri piri sauce is amazing!! Then menu , staff and vibe is excellent! See you again soon.
This wasn’t our first choice for our Fathers Day lunch but in retrospect I’m not sure why. The food was fantastic and atmosphere warm and welcoming. The food took more than 1 hour to come out and when we asked about it, we were told to just wait. Other guests (predominantly white) got their food much faster than us. The food on the other hand was okay, the rice and sparkling...water were the star of the show - says a lot about the food. The service from the waiters was very appalling. We had 5 different waiters. The manager didn’t even come and check on our table.It was generally a horrible experience. Wouldn’t recommend the place if you want good food and good service.More
I stumbled upon VIXI Social House while walking around downtown Cape Town in 2022. I had walked up and down Long St looking for something to grab my attention, as I remembered enjoying the strip when I first visited in 2018. Long Street just didn't...feel the same (pandemic?). After an hour of wandering, I decided to veer off of Long Street, and a few blocks up Strand St I saw a little patio jutting out into the sidewalk that clearly belonged to the kind of restaurant I was looking for. I was immediately greeted by an easy-going server who sat me on the patio that offered a gentle breeze. "Laid back, but on their game" was clearly the vibe. The menu was unlike anything I'd seen in the US or elsewhere. I went for the local kingklip...like a stew, but not too saucy. Sauce, BTW, is what they seem to do best, unless cooked to perfection is you thing, then THAT's what they do best. Again, I'd been to Cape Town before and had searched Trip Advisor for the best restaurants in town, and Social House had not previously shown up. So, when I accidentally stumbled on it in Oct 2022 I was shocked that they had not made the top 10 list. The server was cool, the ambiance was chill, and the food (lest we forget that's the point) was outstanding. Fast forward to Feb 2023. I'm back in Cape Town and again staying within walking distance to Social House. Of course I'm going back...the first night. They did not disappoint. I was greeted by the same server, who even recognized me and seated at the same table I had previously requested. As tempted as I was to order the same killer kingklip I had previously devoured, I decided to be adventurous and prove Social House was not a one-hit-wonder. I ordered the Portuguese steak and was even more impressed. The steak was perfectly med rare and the sauce, again, stole the show. I had the signature Social House Vibes drink and just could not complain about anything. To top it off, I had forgotten to bring my credit card and the server showed no apprehension in letting me come back, with little more than a few hundred Rand as a deposit. They may not be traditional "fine dining", but Social House is as fine as it gets for my money. I will visit again before I leave Cape Town, for sure. Don't miss this spot, and don't forget that just because they don't show up in the top 10, doesn't mean they are not world class.More
I visit this restaurant at least twice per month and I have never had a bad meal . The food is outstanding . The portions are extremely good which makes it very good value for money . The staff are amazing ,cannot do enough ....The restaurant is trendy ,casual with loads of atmosphere. My favorites Litteraly anything . Lamb chops Steak Baby kingklip Pizza Burgers Pasta What ever you fancy you will find here and you will not be disappointed .More
Excellent food - fresh, interesting, flavourful, perfect for sharing. Wide variety ranging through the Middle East and Mediterranean. Large space - eclectic decor that's interesting; mostly works. High ceilings for fully rounded reverb of escalating music and patrons' voices. Sadly let down by careless service.
Our starter was very good however we had to wait for 2 hours for our main course. Very disappointing as they seemed to prioritise their regular clientele against tourists!. They also charged us for a starter that we never ordered.
Don't waste your time unless you have a lot of it to waste. Worst service I have ever experienced in a long time. Unprofessional. Give it a miss.

This was one of our highlights for our trip to Cape town. We visited Vixi's twice for dinner and both times it was amazing. Great service friendly staf and Amazing food.
Recommended by our tour guide, 5 of us from Canada, thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience. Our waiter couldn’t have been more fun, taking great care of us. The food was amazing!
