I just spent 10 days in Cape Town and was so impressed with this place that I ate in the restaurant four separate times. The food is stunning and the staff were all really friendly and attentive, giving great descriptions of the dishes. It's constantly busy and quite noisy, particularly the head chef shouting away like a Sergeant Major in the kitchen. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat and thoroughly recommend it to anyone in the Cape Town area.

In our 4.5 days on Cape Town, we ate here 3 times (we were staying in the SunSquare across the road) - the food is that good, and the wine came perfectly chilled every time. The place is very cool - we ate in the bar twice and in the main restaurant for lunch on our last day in the city. The menu is excellent - lots of tapas options and mains. Particularly recommended are the halloumi, falafel and the grilled chicken mains. Hugely recommended.

We were celebrating our honeymoon. We wanted a switch up from the usual "more upscale" places so we chose Vixi! We loved the food and the music and everything. The only thing that I would say brought it down to a "4 star" instead of "5 star" review is that the service was overworked and there could have been another server in our area, he was a bit slow to getting around to us. Our server was awesome though, given the circumstances. The bar/cocktails were delicious and the food was tasty.

Went for a meal with with friends today. I had to leave earlier than everyone else so I went up to the waitron to get a take away box as I could see she was busy. I had to witness the chef shouting at her for a solid minute, very aggressively and completely uncalled for!
I’m a chef, I’ve worked at quality restaurants in Cape Town and now work as a sous chef in the UK. I work exceptionally hard as does this waitron. The way you talk to your staff is extremely important and when you are shouted at like that in an open kitchen, in front of customers, this reflects very poorly on you, the owner/manager/head chef! The poor waitron must have been so embarrassed. Treat your staff the way you would want to be treated if you were in that situation. Just because you are in charge, doesn’t mean you need to be the stereotype, “Gordon Ramsay Wannabe”. You should learn to control your anger! Your restaurant isn’t that great but your waitron was amazing how she dealt with your outburst! Many staff would have just walked out.
The food was pretty good, but this totally soured my experience and I will not recommend this restaurant to my friends.
I always say this to my chefs at work. “It’s just food”. This doesn’t mean you don’t care about the quality of the food or your job, but don’t stress and upset others, at the end of the day... IT IS JUST FOOD!

Went here for our staff function, while waiting almost an hour for our food, the waitress messed ice all over my wife's back. We had to constantly ask them to lower the music which was so loud and distorted that they could not hear our drink orders and kept getting it wrong. Then they bring another tables order to us, place the food down and come back after 5 minutes to grab the food and say oops wrong table. What's worse is that they then gave that same food to the correct table after it had been sitting on our table. This during a covid pandemic is horrific! Eventually after 10 O' Clock and being there for 3 hours we left without receiving our food. Terrible service and arrogant waiters, definitely do not recommend this place!

My friends and I went for dinner on Saturday night, we each ordered cocktails and dinner. The restaurant was quite busy and there seemed to be a quick turnover with tables. Our waiter seemed uninterested in serving us and took away our food and drinks without saying a word while we were still eating/drinking them. We were also told that the restaurant would not be able to make accommodations for us, when I asked for no egg white in my
strawberry sours cocktail and my friend asked for her beef burger to have no garnishings. Her beef burger still came with garnishings, even after she spoke to the waiter and all the chips seemed to be cooked in a stale oil. We had to ask for the bill twice. Very disappointing.

Went for dinner last night and the steak was terrible. We ordered Rib-Eye's cooked medium and they arrived pre-cut into pieces and cooked well done and like leather. The piece of meat looked like sirloin and had no fat or marbling like was on display. We asked the manager and he just took them away and said thank you for the feedback. We did not receive a replacement steak and ended up not eating a main meal. We were charged R250 for a steak that was terrible and they just took away. The waitress was great and she tried to make the night better but the manager was arrogant and won't go back.

When we ordered food we were told one of the items we wanted couldnt be done because it takes too long to prepare, we then changed the order but still waited 2 hours for our food to arrive. The food was good but certainly will not be back. Floor manager and waitress couldnt have cared less that we waited so long

Vixi delivers quality service and delicious meals every time. They have an efficient whatsapp service to place your order and you can pay with your card directly with their driver. The food is delicious, fresh, with generous portions. Can't wait to visit the restaurant for a meal after lockdown for the full experience.

I stumbled upon VIXI Social House while walking around downtown Cape Town in 2022. I had walked up and down Long St looking for something to grab my attention, as I remembered enjoying the strip when I first visited in 2018. Long Street just didn't feel the same (pandemic?). After an hour of wandering, I decided to veer off of Long Street, and a few blocks up Strand St I saw a little patio jutting out into the sidewalk that clearly belonged to the kind of restaurant I was looking for. I was immediately greeted by an easy-going server who sat me on the patio that offered a gentle breeze. "Laid back, but on their game" was clearly the vibe. The menu was unlike anything I'd seen in the US or elsewhere. I went for the local kingklip...like a stew, but not too saucy. Sauce, BTW, is what they seem to do best, unless cooked to perfection is you thing, then THAT's what they do best. Again, I'd been to Cape Town before and had searched Trip Advisor for the best restaurants in town, and Social House had not previously shown up. So, when I accidentally stumbled on it in Oct 2022 I was shocked that they had not made the top 10 list. The server was cool, the ambiance was chill, and the food (lest we forget that's the point) was outstanding.
Fast forward to Feb 2023. I'm back in Cape Town and again staying within walking distance to Social House. Of course I'm going back...the first night. They did not disappoint. I was greeted by the same server, who even recognized me and seated at the same table I had previously requested. As tempted as I was to order the same killer kingklip I had previously devoured, I decided to be adventurous and prove Social House was not a one-hit-wonder. I ordered the Portuguese steak and was even more impressed. The steak was perfectly med rare and the sauce, again, stole the show. I had the signature Social House Vibes drink and just could not complain about anything. To top it off, I had forgotten to bring my credit card and the server showed no apprehension in letting me come back, with little more than a few hundred Rand as a deposit.
They may not be traditional "fine dining", but Social House is as fine as it gets for my money. I will visit again before I leave Cape Town, for sure. Don't miss this spot, and don't forget that just because they don't show up in the top 10, doesn't mean they are not world class.

This place gives you ton of options, vegan, meat, chicken, pizza, you name it, they have it. And I think this is the reason the quality of the food wasn't to good. We had the kebab and it seemed undercooked. The salmon I had was okay-ish, but it came with very very salty vegetables. My fiance had grilles calamari which was also very salt.
We had to ask for a wine cooler twice, meaning that some of our drinks weren't as cool as preffered.
End of the night we both our stomach hurt.
On top of this, we had a very nice waiter (Brandon I believe was his name), but he was being yelled at by his manager (?), although he really was doing a good job and had a smile on his face when helping us, even though we could see how he was being treated.
The chef at one point was also yelling to the floor staff. Not a relaxed environment to have a diner at.
None of the staff was wearing facemasks.

I have been a few times and enjoyed it, the food and vibe is great.
Today I went for lunch with3 friends and ordered a lamb wrap which is on the menu.. only to be told by my waiter that the owner REFUSED to make it.
Please bear in mind that the restaurant was completely empty as we were one of 4 tables and you’d think during Covid times he would try his best to keep retuning customers happy.
He said he is the owner and can decide whatever he wants and that only a c##t orders a wrap for lunch..
Please tell me when it is the appropriate time to order a wrap if not for lunch?
Needless to say that we won’t be retuning as the owner’s attitude was disgusting and this is not how paying patrons should be treated. We walked out and would have easily spent over R1500 at an empty restaurant.
Reading previous reviews it seems this isn’t the first time his attitude has caused issues and our waiter mentioned this happens often.
Wish them all the best but would not be surprised to see them closed soon if they push away business during these tough times.

Just had lunch at VIXI Social House restaurant and was blown away by the value for money experience. The size of the helpings and the low prices are incredible. We had the seared baby calamari, chicken liver bravas with meze bread and hummus and we were unable to finish it all. I will be back to taste all the other offerings such as flatbreads, pizzas, pastas, fish and meat....... Congratulations to all involved in this wonderful new restuarant in CPT, I will spread the word far and wide.

I had dinner at the VIXI social house. The service is really good. I thought it was cute that the waitress warned me that the fish that I had ordered would be in sauce. Maybe she has had customer with sauce issues? When the dish came it was excellent. Full of flavour and very interesting and the sauce was terrific. By the way, if the waiter offers you some pitta bread to mop up the remaining sauce, don't hesitate, just say yes!

Spectacular. What a treat. I do eat out a lot and review when it’s either outstanding or shocking and nothing in between as can be seen from previous reviews. Today was my first meal at Vixi Social House and will certainly not be the last. What is refreshing, as it’s just so uncommon these days, is to see the chef owner actually in the kitchen and believe it or not actually cooking. I have seen comments about long waits for food and perhaps they are long, but that’s the difference with pre- cooked and re-heated food in other restaurants and this restaurant. What a treat. Middle of the range pricing, attentive and friendly service, and absolutely no compromise in the quality of the food.
