As eating out Greek is as much about the experience as the food, Marika’s did not disappoint. We enjoyed a lovely, latish family lunch outside with a beautiful view of Table Mountain in bright, sunny weather. There is a good variety of traditional greek dishes...to choose from, but consider a platter to share with someone, or different platters for the table. This way you don’t just get to taste more interesting dishes, but sharing adds to the overall experience. In such a platters, Dolmades (wrapped meatballs) are a must. They offer dolmades wrapped in vine or cabbage leaves - both delicious but I enjoyed the cabbage version. Overall service was good. Usually this type of food takes longer as many dishes are prepared at the same time and served together. Therefor, come relaxed, enjoy the company and be a bit more patient than usual - the reward is a greater experience AND great food.More

I recently had to confess to what my favorite meal was. It was a difficult answer, because I love all local food and international. However when the stakes are up, I think my default for international food is gonna lean towards Greek comfort food with...a new age twist. The truth be told, I’ve developed a three point ultimate test here. It’s taken a few years to develop and now I have my ultimate personal tester. When I walk into a Greek food restaurant, I evaluate the following three critical indicators. 1. Taramasalata Okay big debate about whether more pink is real and whether lemony or vinegary is right or best. I personally head towards the more white (less) pink and lemon under tones. Of course fresh, fresh and fresh, is the ultimate. Marika’s delivers on this. 2. Dolmades Fresh with no vinegar storage taste. For me personally, if the dolmades overriding taste is primarily of vinegar, pretty solid compact (indicator of packaged for shelf life) and store bought, I walk away. Marika’s makes hers fresh and not only can you easily taste it, she makes vine leaf and if you’re lucky, cabbage ones which are fresh and melt in your mouth. 3. Greek coffee Sure, everyone has their own interpretation. I’m kind of an old fashioned guy who likes to order my coffee medium (which means medium sugar, the quantity of teaspoons of sugar pre added are not mentioned). If you don’t like sugar, you just order plain. Sugar is not brought to the table and the real tester for me, is it thick coffee with the ground coffee beans not filtered and in your cup. You can easily do a coffee reading with Marika’s, absolutely awesome. Maybe a 4th should be added, good wholesome service. Boy, do you get this in abundance here. I’m a repeat customer here for good reason.More

What a great place for a fun night, with authentic Greek food, cheerfully served in a casually delightful spot. Good service, abundant helpings, a wide choice and everything you could hope to find. We were a party of 14, and we were all served with...our different choices at the same time.More

everything we tried and touched was great. our meals very very satisfying. the ribs are recommendable and the lamb dish with pasta rice cheese and a tomato base, were delicious. the carafe of red wine, although pricy was a very good shiraz. service was very...friendly attentive and prompt. the wait for the food was worth it as its all freshly cooked and freshly prepped. the little grappa tasting and lesson at the end of our meal was great. the owner and a waitress gave me deferent grappa's to taste and it went down so well with a nice cup of espresso. will be back again soon.More

Yes the place come highly recommended, but if this is one of the top Greek Restaurants in Cape Town then I am really disappointed. The hosts is friendly, but so friendly with the locals that they forget to check up on you? All the food...were extremely bland and the Hummus was bitter. even though we ordered the Main courses with the starters we waited forever. The two highly recommended dishes, lamb bake and peri chicken were really tasteless but it seems that the homeless people, waiting at the bottom of the stairs enjoyed so at least one good thing came from our very disappointing Greek night out.More
