Once again a worthwhile dinner. We hadn't been to the Belly of the Beast for over a year and were so happy to see familiar faces amongst the staff. The food, as always, was excellent as was the service. This was not our last visit!

I absolutely loved the experience. It was our second visit. The food is to die for and a very unique experience coupled with great service. They serve the best wines and will make you challenge yourself to experience things you have never tried before. I...am a picky eater and the chef convinced me to try her tripe! It was phenomenal. Well done on a great concept.More
This is very late but I was surprised with dinner by my partner in November to belly of the beast and it was the best surprise and experience ever!
Belly of the Beast is one of my favourite "Fine Dining" experience restaurants in Cape Town. The idea is to arrive and be surprised by the Chef's selection of several unusual courses they have created from what can be found in season locally. Every food...group is covered, but arrangements can be made for allergies or dietary requirements. The restaurant ethos is to support local, small farms, and the meat is sourced ethically and responsibly. The ambiance of the restaurant is relaxed, but close attention has been paid to decor and design. This is a restaurant that pays attention to detail and always delivers exceptional quality. Lastly, you won't leave hungry! Every course is generous, and (pro tip) DO pace yourself!More
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in the city - unpretentious and friendly atmosphere with an incredibly creative kitchen team you can tell are passionate about food and flavor.
What a tantalizing tasting experience! Every meal mouth watering leaving one wonder what better surprise could be awaiting with the next course. Great ambience, perfect setup for an intimate meal. Will definitely be back!
Not being a regular fine dining client, we were slightly nervous as to what the atmosphere would be like given our relaxed and casual nature. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the restaurant is elegant, relaxed, non pretentious and welcoming to all types of...diners wanting to embark on a special culinary adventure. The restaurant is intimate but somehow makes you feel like you are in your own world. The serving staff were attentive without being obtrusive. They knew exactly when to be professional and when to crack a joke to make the overall experience that much more enjoyable. As far as the food goes. This exceeded our expectations although we didn't really come with any. Each course which included about 4 additional surprise courses, captivated the flavours of South Africa's diverse culture. Perfectly balanced, packed with flavour and elegantly presented. The portion sizes were perfect and left you always wanting a little bit more but more than satisfied with what you received. Value for money can not be debated. Being 6ft6, I left the restaurant more than full and best of all, with memories that will last a life time. We cannot wait for our next visit and to share in the experience again.More
Love this restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious (and filling unlike many high-end restaurants). The restaurant has just a few tables - well spaced out to provide both atompshere and privacy. Management is attentive but not over-bearing. Writing this review after my third visit and...I can't wait to go back.More
Ambiance; comfortable, cosy, romantic. Drinks; good selection, knowledgeable. Staff; friendly, patient, attentive, and also leave you to enjoy yourself. Food... No words can adequately describe the food. It makes you feel things, down in your soul. I have had the privilege of dining here thrice,...including once at home during lockdown. The courses are small but generous in taste and execution. Each course more generous in size than the last. Each plate is an art piece. The small team is wonderful, like a family, and it deeply reflects in their food. I almost didn't want to write this review. I didn't want too many people to hear about this utopia, I selfishly want to keep this secret to all to myself. Belly of the Beast is, hands down, the best food I have eaten in South Africa. It is worth noting that my partner has anosmia (cannot smell, has no taste). I saw a sparkle in his eyes that I have not seen in a while, it was beautiful. Thank you Belly of the Beast. I hope to dine with you again, and again, and again.More
Absolutely faultless - food, drinks and service were perfect. Brilliant night! Was planning on coming back this November but covid has changed our plans. Hoping to go back next year!!
