Another amazing evening with my fellow American travelers. We always book our guests for the final night of their vacation to Gold and the drumming experience. It never disappoints. Thanks

This restaurant is phenomenal. All of the staff were passionate and friendly, the food was fantastic but the real highlight was the entertainment! This was definitely the highlight of our time in Cape Town and I would come back just for this place!
Booked our gold experience over 6 months ago as it was my 40th birthday. We had a table upstairs that had a totally none existent view. Very disappointed. We should had gone to the waterfront. Would not recommend
Positives: - Food tasted great - Setting is awesome - Everything was sparkling clean - Entertainment was entertaining Negatives: - The level of service didn't live up to the price. As much as I try to be grateful and appreciate the positives, I feel that...the service, or lack thereof, drastically diminished the experience for me. We had booked based on RSVP's for 36 people but unfortunately, 39 attended. I would've expected some assistance on the part of the Gold Restaurant representative to assist us in making a plan for the additional (paying guests) considering that there were many free tables available, but it felt more like we were dealing with a strict school principal. In the end, we were clearly begrudgingly assisted with a tiny table with 3 chairs. - Based on the recommendations that we received, we expected the waiters to be great at serving us but all of them looked as if they were forced to be there. They would all (and there were many of them) completely disappear in-between servings. I'm not sure if the waiters themselves are perhaps the ones cooking the food. Most of the entertainers had a positive vibe about them which sadly no-one else on staff seemed to have. The overall impression that I got from the experience is that the business model focuses on pushing through volumes of people. There is some attention given to the food. But little to none given to hospitality.More
Gold is a must-visit for every foreign tourist in South Africa, offering a delectable feast of 12 authentic African dishes. The beauty lies in the fact that you don't have to choose; everything is brought to your table. Drawing from my hotel industry experience, the...service surpassed expectations—treating us like royalty with impeccable attention. Despite the spice level (it wasn’t really hot at all), they took care to cater to my wife's non-spicy preferences. Although we missed the early drumming, it's highly recommended for a fun experience. African entertainment throughout the meal ensures memorable moments—don't forget your camera. Opt for face painting if you want to leave looking African! Exceptional value is evident, attracting both locals and celebratory gatherings. The perfectly portioned food allows for reorders; we noticed a neighboring table returning to the starters, featuring delicious snoek pate, roosterkoek (roasted bread), and a delicate seared ostrich salad. While we left early, there might even be dancing towards the evening's end. Remarkably, they generously share recipes online. A night at Gold is truly unforgettable!More
We had a fabulous evening here and would highly recommend the experience! Food tasty, varied and delicious; drumming fun, service excellent as was the ambience. Do book well in advance as the restaurant gets booked up well in advance.
I went as part of a large group, and overall it was a really great experience.I would say the food was good and tasty, but not quite excellent in quality. We enjoyed getting to sample a wide variety of dishes from around Africa. The show...aspect was very entertaining -- great drumming, dancing, and singing. The service was very good -- they did a great job managing our huge group.More
What a fun night. Unassuming from the outside but inside the venue was a feast of color. The first surprise was the drum on our seats. We participated in a drumming experience, followed by authentic African dancers. The menu had a tapas format family-style with...12 dishes from around Africa. More food was available upon request. This was truly a night to remember.More
Another great evening at Gold Restaurant. Wonderful experience for my Chinese delegates. I loved the summer menu.
Amazing vibe ., super performance .. entertaining .. BUT FOOD WAS PATHETIC .. worst food I ever had in my life .. guys we had vegetarian food .. and it was horrible .. don’t even think of having dinner ..
Well worth the visit. Entertainment fantastic and interactive with lots of bongo drumming, singing and dancing. The different African dishes, 14 in total, were awesome. Face painting and really lovely staff. Book before traveling as they are always busy!
10/10 experience! We had a dinner and a show. Food was amazing and so was the entartainment. Between meals you could choose to have your face traditionaly painted by one of the painters at the restaurant. We played on drums, something I have never experience...before at dinner. And the staff is just the best, very kind.More
The performances were out of this world, the food was on another level, and the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. It was a truly eye opening experience that I would reccomend for any zone to do, especially as a solo traveller. I never once...felt alone as the staff treated me well and made me feel like I was always apart of thr groupMore
What a wonderful unique evening we had of brilliant African musical entertainment, delicious food and a special song that was sang to us at our table as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and it started our holiday off beautifully....The staff were all so friendly and the service exceptional. The food was diverse and plentiful and reflected the three African continents. The drumming session is a must, we didn’t realise that we would be taking part but it was such good fun. We would highly recommend ‘Gold’ to our friends and family and have even told our travel agent to inform future clients that they need to go.More
We went out for dinner. A waiter approached us who was clearly intoxicated. He had difficulty speaking and smelled of alcohol. The performances were interesting. Some dishes were clearly not prepared in the evening. In the end, not all the dishes listed on the menu...were served.More
