First time taking my family to this restaurant after having been here before and once again, the experience was fantastic. The food and different flavour combinations is exceptional! The atmosphere and service creates a unique experience. Jane is fantastic adding to the experience- her knowledge...and advice on the menu with so many options is exceptional. Food recommendations: Starters: Tomato and basil soup ( it has a bit of a bite), calamari Mains - Any of the fish dishes. The best part is that they can be prepared in at least three different ways but mostly more options could be available.More

An exceptionally good experience for our family as it was the last time we will be together for a while. Outstanding service from Jane and the whole FOH team. Starter bruschettas were really good, fish soup disappointed in terms of the depth of the broth;...mains were from the menu and the specials but ALL fish and all declared absolutely delicious. Choc pecan pie and Mississippi mud pie were shared and were amazing! We will definitely be back. Thank you for your hospitality.More

Great food, well-prepared and tasty, excellent service, neighborhood restaurant "vibe." Lovely. Would return in a heartbeat and have already recommended it to a couple going in November. (We'd recommend the king clip in the Malay sauce as well!) One goes there for the quality food...and service in a relaxed atmosphere. Not "food as art" but great food as food.More

We phoned to book for lunch and Jane said we aren't very busy at lunchtime which we thought was very honest of her in case we were expecting a restaurant with a vibe. As it happens it has not been the first time we have...been the only diners in a restaurant at lunchtime in Cape Town We liked the background music which was very appropriate for us. Now the food,it was very good as stated by the many well deserved glowing reviews especially the kingklip. They have some fish such as kob and angel fish that you don't see on menus all that often. After the meal we had a chat with Jane & Sol who were lovely, we wish them all the best. It was reasonably priced with fair wine prices which are displayed on a blackboard.More

A lovely old house repurposed as a quirky little restaurant. Where, by the second visit you feel like family. Jane in the front Solly in the kitchen, turning out meals to make you happy! Fresh seafood is their specialty- but their steaks and Espetada’s are...awesome too. A refreshing change from the big restaurants and you will love the experience. Don’t forget to try the Paul Cluver Sauvignon Blanc. Tell Jane Steve the pilot sent you, - and ask her to tell you the Brussel Sprouts joke!More

Great to be back in SA again and for the chance to dine at Miller's Thumb makes the trip worthwhile. Managed to get the hotel to make a reservation which was needed as it was packed, note they do not accept email reservations so you...do need to phone ahead. Busiest night in ages according to the lovely Jane who was so welcoming and pleased to be open again after this difficult time. Sadly the chicken livers had sold out so opted for the blue cheese salad which was crunchy and cheesy but a little too overdressed for my liking. The reason why you come here is for the fish and it did not disappoint. Perfectly grilled king klip (last 2) served with some roasted veggies and delicious crispy chips with a side dish or lemon or garlic butter , excellent. Wine was reasonable , choose from the list on the wall ! Service was delightful, warm and friendly and great to be back, simply the best.More

After not being able to visit Cape Town for so long I was worried that my memory of the food at the Miller's Thumb would lead to disappointment when we returned. I should not have been concerned. The food here is exceptional. Don't expect linen...table cloths and fine dining. What you will get is fresh, simple yet beautifully cooked food that tastes amazing. This is the best restaurant I have visited and I will return as often as I can.More

Kinda busy. I got the curry entree with chicken, prawns, and several other ingredients. A confkuence of textures and flavors not the curry didn't obliterate. Good service. Reasonable price.

I e-mailed. Lady owner responded but late saying TripAdvisor kept giving e-mail address for reservations despite her saying it should be by phone. She was very nice and i did get a cancellation. Bottom line is use phone.

Quite close. From MQ to main road, turn left, about 200 meters turn right and it takes 10 to 15 minutes easy walk. The guys at MQ will give you a map if you ask them. It’s worth going, it really is
