We had lunch at Minato yesterday after reading many amazing reviews about it. First glance; Don't be put off by the location or decor as the restaurant is quite modest looking, to say the least, and did make me second guess myself for suggesting it for lunch. However, the owners were so welcoming and immediately suggested their Bluefin tuna, which... More

Minato is my secret solo sushi lunch hideaway and in my opinion the best sushi in Cape Town. I have come here many times and every time I have received friendly personal service and exceptional food at good prices. Try this place you wont be disappointed

My husband and I have been to Japan several times and became kind of sushi foodies. When we came to Cape Town we tryed all restaurants with 4 and 5 stars on TripAdvisor. It depends what your looking for: If you want getting the best quality of fish because you love sashimi this is your place to go. The fish... More

The stuff is really friendly and nice. The atmosphere is simple like you're in someone's house and the sushi is great. Ate there yesterday and I can't wait to go again...

We really enjoyed this fine sushi. Made with love. Good taste and quality. Cosy place in a building closed of from the busy long street. Already 20 years business !

Don't be discouraged by the simple and somehow understated presentation of this place. It's hard to find and a little hidden on a side street, but defenitely worth every Rand. Go there if you just want to have superb Sushi. Great, quick and forthcoming staff. Thumbs up!

Outstanding sushi with some of the freshest tuna served exactly at the optimal sushi temperature for flavor and “melt in the mouth” tuna and outstanding rolls. Our favorite were the 9 piece tuna sashimi, futomaki roll, dragon roll, age dashi dofu (tender tofu in special sauce), and har gar (shrimp from dim sum menu). The service was outstanding, and the... Stuck out of the way off the vibey Long Street, it's easy to overlook Minato. It doesn't look like much, but the food more than makes up for the relative lack of decor and ambience. We came with our own wine, for which we were charged corkage, but I did not see their wine list. The restaurant was not full,... More

We found this place by luck, while other restaurants were fully booked this place was empty. The place is located inside a building. With the open kitchen, the wooden table and the kimono on the wall, the atmosphere is simple and we feel like home. The owner of a restaurant is a Chinese lady very kind, who gave us great... More

Just when you thought Cape Town's Long Street could not deliver up any more gems, this unassuming little restaurant serves you the most delicious sushi in a bamboo boat.
