If you're not familiar with Ethiopian food, Addis in Cape is a perfect introduction. The menu and the server do a great job of explaining what the food is, and how the injera bread is used in place of utensils. If you're already familiar with Ethiopian cuisine, this restaurant will not let you down. Every bite of the food was... More

This was not my first time eating Ethiopian food so I came in with some expectations and I am so glad that I wasn't disappointed at all!! My craving for Ethiopian food was satisfied and how! The server was extremely helpful and gave us a free curry even! Must visit if you are on Long Street shopping or taking a... More

We came here by accident (Mama Africa was full) and we are so glad we did! The service was warm and friendly and the food excellent. We got the combo and between two of us shared four options - they were all delicious and we left stuffed. The fish addis in dar and Kai sega wot (beef) were standouts. We... More

Great atmosphere, great service. I highly recommend this for a totally different dining experience. The place has oodles of ambience and the food is extremely good. Best to go in a group and share dishes. That way you get a taste of everything on offer. The dishes are served on a flatbed of injera which is a sourdough bread made... More

Great vegetarian dishes, nice atmosphere, central location, good value. If this was in New York, I would eat there all the time.

Good Ethiopian food, beautiful decoration and nice views to the street. Quite easy to find and you can continue shopping right after eating. The menu is a bit confusing and not very cheap, but if you've never tried this before, this restaurant serves it with good taste (in both meanings). Remember to try their coffee! It is an experience on... More

We came here without any idea of how Ethiopian food would be and turned out to be one great dining experience! It is located very centrally at the corner of long and church street where you could also have some street shopping after down the same street. It was a struggle to order at first as too many options to... More

Description
Addis in Cape! Voted best African Eatery in Cape Town, an authentic Ethiopian restaurant that caters for Non-vegetarian, Vegan and Vegetarian clients. We provide a unique communal dining experience you, your family and friends will remember. From traditional hand-wash ceremonies to our traditional Ethiopian coffee we promise a memorable experience.
Ethiopian cuisine is famous for its rich aromas and generous use of herbs and spices. The country was historically situated on trading routes that included the trade of many exotic spices; this history has had a tremendous influence on the taste of Ethiopian food as we know it. Today most of the herbs and spices are blended and prepared in the home with great love and attention, as are those used in Addis in Cape. The dishes that you taste here are unique to Ethiopia and we are proud as a restaurant to share them with you.
