We are vegetarian and just asked for all the vegetarian meal. They brought out all the vegetable dishes with the Ethiopian bread, all very similar to Indian food. Everything was great. Even the service to wash our hands. Loved the atmosphere, the service and food....Must go!More

We had a group of 7 looking for good Ethiopian within walking distance of where we were staying. Well, we couldn’t have been happier with where we ended up! The vibe of the restaurant is great. Lots of groups and plenty of room to accommodate...them. The food is traditional, delicious and obviously has some great vegetarian options for folks with dietary restrictions. The food is served on large baskets, making it a really fun group meal. I suggest you do what we did: ask your server for his/her recommendations, especially for quantity. Make sure you swing by Addis in Cape, you won’t regret it.More

This is an experience you should have at least once and then preferably in a large group. The service is friendly and the ambience warm and inviting. The concept of sharing food and the dishes are explained beforehand and the meal thus consists of a...large tray of food to be shared and enjoyed together. The food is tasty though some of the dishes may be a bit hot to some diners. We spent a large portion of the evening enjoying diners going for their wine or extra beers in order to cope with the heat. Nevertheless, if you are in Cape Town, the Addis is a wonderful experience.More

Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered the set meal which was perfect for the 4 of us. The food was so interesting and really delicious. The restaurant is decorated in Ethiopian styled furnishings, relaxed and comfortable. I liked that, after placing your order,...the waitron arrives with warm water for you to wash your hands. You then eat the delicious food using your hands.More

This is a very touristy place. The night I went they had lovely jazz music which was a pleasant surprise. When I first arrived the host immediately loudly rudely whispered “American” to the waiter which was very odd. Why does it matter where someone is...from? Service was okay. Waiter insisted that I order several items and the waiter kind of got upset when I said no. The large table next to me was laughing at me the whole time. The table on my other side was staring at me. I felt a little uncomfortable especially as a solo diner. Luckily the food was good. The waiter did not explain the food to me like he did to other diners. Which is fine because I eat a lot of Ethiopian food and know what it is. Just a strange observation. Later on during the meal I was enjoying the music but at one point the waiter touched my leg! He then proceeded to ask about where I was staying (hotel) and how I was getting there. I did not answer these uncomfortable questions. He then tried to offer me a ride home which was very odd and I’ve never had this experience before. Needless to say as a solo female traveler I felt very uneasy and uncomfortable. I ate at several restaurants in CT during my month long stay and never felt this uncomfortable.More

Really interesting meal, authentic Ethiopian food and great service. We didn't need to book and ordered the set meal for two which gave us a good selection of options. Good value. Excellent option for an evening meal.

This was the best food I think I've ever eaten. It was served on a large bread, communal style. We ate 6 different dishes, with traditional style bread. We shared the huge plate between 3 of us, eating with our hands. They do wash your...hands for you prior to serving the meal. I cabby say enough about the quality of the food, the taste of the dishes was exquisite and I'll go back before I leave Cape Town.More
