Burger & Lobster was founded in 2016 with the idea of going back to basics of a restaurant culture where people were offered only a few items that would get people talking - a burger, a lobster roll and fresh lobster. The First B&L in South Africa started in Cape Town on Bree Street. B&L has a world renouned cocktail bar offering the best original cocktails in Cape Town made with all home-made ingredients. B & L is a trendy and vibey place that gets people coming back. The Burger is made with highest quality natural beef and the Lobster is sustainable live lobster. Each dish developed the best it can be, surrounded with good people and great energy.

Best Happ hour ever

Happy hour or Social hour as they call it lasts from 4.00 pm until 7.00 pm every day and offers two for one on draught beers and selected wines. The place is usually very busy making for a great atmosphere. The waiters are very attentive and the service is fast. Good variety of well priced burgers and other tasty bites on a pretty exyensive menu

Does what it says; well! And the cocktails are pretty decent too

We came here on a Sunday night as it was one of the few places open in Bo Kaap bear our hotel. We arrived during happy hour which proposes some cheap but tasty meat & seafood morsels and a 2 for one wine/cocktail policy. The beautifully presented cocktails are prepared by a trio of dapper young men behind a high, speakeasy reminiscent bar. We indulged in a Coney Island, a delicious fruity gin cocktail topped with a bittersweet gooey meringue type coconut and lime foam. This place is an upmarket burger joint with menu offering a raft of originally garnished beef, fish & chicken burgers and a lobster bun. There is also a vegetarian and a vegan option “if you are that way inclined”. After the cocktails we took further advantage of the happy hour & enjoyed a Pinotage and a Sauvignon Blanc. Food: Him indoors had the burger of the month: a monstrosity of a meat patty with avocado & mozzarella as well as the more classic trimmings. I went for the lobster bun: a lightly toasted brioche sandwich with poached lobster dressed with a Japanese twist - delicious. The string fries were exactly as they should be, We even found room to share a pudding (we had just hiked up Table Mountain is the excuse) We took the Oreo-base Nutella cheesecake, which has to be one of the best cheesecakes I have eaten. Usually not a fan of Oreos, but they worked a treat for the base which was nice & crispy and the cheesecake & suitably dense; a very naughty treat. Service efficient yet laid back, prices decent.

Good but not amazing

They offer 2-for-1 drinks and apps between 4 and 7, Our group of 4 ordered Burger and Shrimp Bombs as an app these were both very good. We ordered Lobster Rolls and burgers as meals, the lobster rolls had a lot going on, they were covered in sauce. Overall they tasted decent but just too much. One person in our party ordered a burger Medium but it was rare, he ended up eating around the rare part.

Amazing Experience and Delicous

Mouth watering experience at this restaurant. Micheal B, one of the waiters was kind enough to recommend the best plate ever which is a combo consisting of lobster roll, burger and grilled lobster with sweet potatoes and parmesan fries. We had creme brule for desert. Not to miss if you are ever in Capetown :)

Food and service was great!! David was our server, very good explication of the menu and suggestions. Manager Rudy was very helpful as well. He explained to us how the burgers are made and why it is so difficult to find a great burger in CT. They use a high quality of beef which allows you to order medium rare and not (ugh) well done. Highly recommended because of food and staff. -D

Upmarket gone wrong

Upon arrival we were told that we had to leave promptly 2 hours later, and throughout our meal the waitress kept reminding us of this time limit. However, when our food arrived we were only left with 15 minutes to eat, the portion sizes were too small to justify the price they charged. The restaurant made us feel like they were doing us a favour by allowing us to eat and drink there, rather than providing an enjoyable evening. I will not be visiting here again.

Lunched here mid week. Ordered a burger and a lobster roll - of course - that is the name of the restaurant after all. My partner isn’t dieting so the lobster roll worked for him and he really liked it. Me, I’m trying to be starch and sugar free. I asked the waitress to avoid the roll and just give me the burger. Well, I was given a perfectly grilled burger with all the trimmings wrapped in crunchy lettuce. Just what I wanted - and so tasty. Great lunch.

Don't go on First Thursdays

I made a booking and asked if the special 2 for 1 drinks apply on first Thursdays the manager promised me that it does. When I come to the restaurant the waiter informed me that I am mistaken the special doesn't apply, when I asked the manager abt it her reply was that I am wrong that's not what she said, even though I had the phone on speaker and hubby heard her, she called us both liars and walked away. When we wanted to order 5 waiters walked past exceptionally busy lookin for tomato sauce. I wish I knew what the famous food tasted like however did not get the chance.

What a great experience-Wolf burger was great and head chef Ishmael’s burger of the month (cranberry and camerbert) was delicious.The service of our waitress Camila was excellent and her presentation of the menu was fantastic especially the desert menu🎂🎂she made the evening so much better. Managers Calvin and Dylan were great hosts. An evening to remember and a dining experience that we will def recommend. Thxs B&L

Great food with great service

Lovely trendy spot. Michael, our waiter, was a lovely guy, very attentive and explained the menu thoroughly. We were packed after the lobster roll and beef burgers (we went half and half) but the desserts looked fantastic when brought out to us. Chocolate lovers heaven. Definitely recommend a visit here.

My girlfriend and I had the best experience I have had a restaurant to date, the service was fantastic, the food was even better, my mind was blown with every bite I took. I must commend the owners and staff of this establishment for putting together such an amazing place, the ambience, the food, the service, all top notch. I even made a point of going over to the kitchen to thank them and congratulate them on their impeccable food, I would definitely recommend Burger and Lobster if you want a great night out with perfect food. The price you pay for what you get is also extremely reasonable and would happily pay again and again, I assure you that I will be doing this in the future.

Great service by Jesse & Lungi, on my b'day. All dishes (lobster roll and bar bites) exceptional + birthday Oreo Cheesecake! For the two 2-for-1 drinks, 2 bar tapas and the lobster roll, the bill came to only R 370-00 aside from the gratuity. (A special is available on Thursdays for the lobster roll.) Thank you! Definitely recommended😉

The BEST meal ever!

We had wanted to try this restaurant for some time, and it was 100% worth the wait. Amazing venue, very cool on a very hot day. While the food might have been a bit more expensive than we were used to, it was worth every cent. If you intend eating here come hungry, for portions and extras make for a filling meal. The food is exquisitely prepared and flavoured. We especially liked the crispy sweet potato option instead of potato fries. Great service as well.

Lovely lunch!

Our group of 4 had a lovely lunch of burgers and chicken wings. Rudy the manager was very helpful and educated us on how the burgers are prepared. We like our burgers med rare and they were cooked to perfection! Our server took the time to describe each special in detail. The wings were spicy and not overcooked! We will return to try the lobster rolls! (I think our servers name was David)
