Food and ambience

Here at the greek fisherman, we are proud of our roots, so expect traditional greek and mediterranean dishes. But, we also believe in moving with the times, so we've added a modern twist to our otherwise classic menu. Our cuisine includes greek & seafood specialities and we are famous for our greek meze, our souvla (spit roast) and our stunning lamb in the oven. Choose from over 20 meze, starters and tapas! Established in 1992, the greek fisherman is one of the original restaurants in the v&a waterfront and is still owned by the same owners as when the victoria wharf, waterfront opened in 1992. Take a seat and get a glorious view of table mountain while you enjoy delicious seafood and meats

I returned to my favourite restaurant on the Waterfront, and it was as good as two years ago. Delicious moussaka and a lovely large glass of rose wine. Frank looked after me as well as ever. You need to go the first floor to find...this restaurant - almost above Belthazar. Great view from there.More

Had a bad experience....we went there for a light dinner...so we asked the waiter for some advice...instead of advising us correctly regarding the quantity of food served, he was more interested to sell by all means...so we ended up with so much food left...total waste....so...sad because food was goodMore

Booked in here for our last night of a 16 day holiday in South Africa. The manager was brilliant from start to finish, organising us a table with fantastic views over the marina to start with. Food was amazing, sea food is my thing and...wow it was great!More

Very disappointed with this restaurant Went with friends and found food and service wanting . We mostly had a variety of items and none of us felt it good value although we couldn’t say it wasn’t right , just not we thought we were getting...At the end we tipped but not the full 10% that they requested The waitress returned with our bill folder containing the money dropped it on the table and announced not politely that we hadn’t left the correct gratuity and we needed to fix it Not sorry was there a problem I noticed you didn’t leave a full tip Not acceptable Oh and pass on the stuffed tomatoes completely just terribleMore

The Greek Fisherman! Tempting to me as I love Greek and Seafood.. did. It hesitate to try it out. Location - 5/5 with lovely fresh breeze from the bay with the Cape Wheel in the back drop and some White Sea birds cawing here and...there. Perfect! Service 4.5/5 - it becomes hard as you have to nitpick sometimes for an accurate review. I did feel like we had to wait a little longer for service. Also the waiter wasn’t able to explain the preparation or taste of the dishes when questioned. I understand that you can’t know everything but one could find out and come back. Otherwise nothing to complain - decent staff Food 4.5/5 - I ordered for the Mousakka which is essentially minced meat with cheese in a Greek preparation. The only issue for me was that it had Aubergines and I absolutely hate them. The menu and the waiter both did not provide clarity into this and this stuck out like a sore thumb. But it was delicious once they were separated and the Prawns were quite delicious tooMore

The restaurant is conveniently located on the upper level of the V & A Waterfront Mall. The food was very good and the service was also good. The food did take some time to arrive but this is understandable considering that this was an extremely...busy week-end with the Federer/Nadal charity tournament. The ambiance was good and the restaurant is tastefully decorated.More

This place is amazing. From the service to the quality of food and efficiency I really can not find fault. The fillet steak was so tender we could have cut it with a spoon. Friendly staff and spotlessly clean. We will be returning before we...leave Cape Town.More

So good we went back twice. They have moved their location since we were first here 8 years ago. Service and food are still super. Good value. Nice wine selection.

Having a fantastic location with views to die for definitely adds to the experience. The prawn starter was great served with really delicious rice. The Haloumi starter with their quince jelly was just tooooo yummy A party of 4 adults and two children as well...as a toddler this was a perfect venue They cater for vegetarians and vegans! Their food is wholesome food quality and obviously Greek. And of course their baklava is heavenly... try a bit of ouzo on a hot day... Probably best to book especially in season over the festive period.More
