Perfect restaurant for both Italian and a large piece of dry-age steak of 500 gr (or more if desired) super attentive staff. Not only during dinner, but also at the first coffee-stop this afternoon, the pleasant and sincere behavior of the staff stood out. Very good wine advice and great prices

Great restaurant. Despite the full landing, everything was brought very quickly. The staff is very positive and professional. The quality of food is excellent. The cheeses and charcuterie are simply magical. We know a lot about meat and eat it always and everywhere. The steaks here are the best. City Grill loses both in presentation and taste. Children also have something to eat here. Very tasty pasta. Unreal desserts. I definitely recommend this restaurant in Cape Town.

Went for dinner to the upstairs restaurant (Locanda). Lovely layout, great staff and service with tasty dishes. The breadsticks were to die for. Good for vegetarians too. I requested a modification of a special dish and the chef obliged. Lovely atmosphere too. Would recommend it.

Last week was the first and last time here. I asked to pay Corkage, and the waiter informed me that do not accept byo. We should have walked out then. The wine prices were a total rip off, I know as I have lived in the winelands for 25 Years. Mark-up gone mad! I think the cheapest was about R230. I ended up paying mid R300's for a wine I enjoy, (but badly over priced). The Pork belly was tasty, but the vegetables indifferent. My wife's minute pasta dish did not warrant a R200 price tag (not seafood). Menu very overpriced. Seating uncomfortable, and drafty. Man in the suit was very busy, but the service still indifferent. Our waiter handled the situation very professionally. Sorry but this just is not Fine Dining.

We have rated this 3/5 which is being generous, could have been 1-2/5 and would’ve been 4/5 based on our first visit but…Was recommended and visited on first evening in Cape Town and as we were staying in Bree st. First occasion was very nice, attentive and friendly staff, offered cocktails to start with, a full explanation of the specials board and our chosen red blend for our main course to follow. Could not faulter…a family member joined us the following week so we instantly thought we’d return for our first evening all together and we built the restaurant experience up to our family member. However the experience was a complete contrast to the week before, in fact 7 days before. Our waiter seemed detached, never mentioned the specials, rushed us slightly, very quick to bring white wine with starters and I ordered an upgrade from the previous blended red for our mains but the wine came and was poured and we waited thirty minutes or more before I raised it with a senior team member. Shortly afterwards our mains came by which time we had drunk almost all of the red wine. We were offered complimentary deserts which was nice but I’d of preferred to have paid the full price in exchange for the experience we enjoyed the week before. What was concerning was that the waiter may have inadvertently added gratuity to the card reader but I cannot be certain if it was intentional so I asked the waiter to void the transaction and I paid the bill and foolishly gave a reasonable cash tip to reflect good service which sadly it was not. Will we revisit… I’m not sure. With hindsight I wish we’d gone back to Kloof st house and maybe we’d have had a second good experience or maybe not. Will wait and see. I guess every restaurant has their off days. 1/2 is not good enough though.

Tries a Little Too Hard

I ate here twice and was disappointed both times. The first meal, prawn risotto, was over seasoned and over sauced, and second meal, pork belly, terribly bland. Both meals were beautifully plated and most of the staff was very kind.

Amazing place From the service to the food

As we were staying on Bree Street went for a walk that evining and found this Amazing place Villa 47. We didnt have a booking went and asked if there was a table, they said they would do their best as the restauant was very busy. Lead us up to the bar upstairs, the bar tender greeted us ordered a beer (Devils Peak and and if he could recommend us a glass of red wine.Within 15 mins we sat at our table. The manager came and took our order knew the menu and discussed menu items with us. (smahing services). Abbacchio alla Toscana (Lamb Chops) Pesce del Giorno (Grilled catch of the day). After two beers a bootle and half of red wine, the ambiance the setting brilliant. All the customers had gone as we were finishing up Paul our waiter from Zimbabwe explained about the different wines which is dispalyed inside what great knowledge of fine wines he had and reccomend us the vineyards to visit. Place's we have visited this is going to be in our TOP FIVE restauants around the world . The service from the front door to the bar tender and the waiters and the Manager keep smiling Cape Town you have done people proud great amazing service you gave us please keep this up we will recommend this place to our friends

Stopped in at Villa 47 on a Thursday night, it was pretty packed which is always a good sign. Service was prompt, the starters were good, however our mains of steak which were ordered medium rare were cooked within an inch of their life. Tough, chewy and rather inedible. I complained to the waitress who just apologized. I probably shouldn't have ordered a steak in an Italian restaurant but it was at the waitresses suggestion, maybe the pasta is better...

We were here a couple of years ago and this was undoubtedly one of the best meals of our trip. We’ve looked forward to returning since, whilst it was lovely sitting outside on the terrace and the food was tasty, it wasn’t the mind blowing mouth watering food we remembered. I’d still return 100%, maybe our expectations were too high, but it just wasn’t everything we’d hoped for or expected this time round. Solid Italian dinner though for those looking.

We frequent Villa 47 fairly often but sadly this time it didn’t meet expectations. We waited 90 minutes for our order only to be told the kitchen was s but congested because of a big table upstairs…why is that my problem? I don’t recall being offered a discount for a long wait? The restaurant was busy… yes.., it’s season! Not good enough. The food when it eventually arrived was great but waiting so long spoils things a bit. We had chosen not to have a starter knowing how filling the main courses are but as main arrived so late, dessert wasn’t an option. It was disappointing as it was a special occasion! Waiter did his best and was very friendly and Knowles able.

Maitre-D was rude and dismissive. He refused to serve us red wine at room temperature, insisting that it should be served chilled. As customers, we have our preferences and want to enjoy our meal then have an arrogant manager tell us how things should be done. Staff are also not well-informed about the menu or specials either, as they couldn’t answer basic questions…the food was average. Considering the price, we expected better. Disappointed, wont return.

Here you can taste italian typical dishes embedded amazingly in the South African one. The atmosphere is lively and the waiters are very kind. As an Italian I really suggest to go there. That's also the place to go if are a wine lover, they have a very wide and quality selection.

The whole experience of the restaurant was spoiled when we arrived by the arrogance of the manager Shannon. We booked we were 15 minutes late due to the Uber we were put on a table virtually in the door way we asked to move the manager came gave us 1 of about 5 tables telling us how lucky we were as we were 15minutes late. His attitude meant we ate quickly had one drink and left never to return. Shannon at best needs retraining or preferably a new occupation that requires no customer service! Food was actually ok! Shame!

We met a couple of friends at Villa 47 for lunch on Saturday 2 October It was cold and wet in CT but Villa 47 was ‘cooking’. We ordered the risotto, parmigiana de melanzane, lasagne and seafood ravioli. Every meal was packed with flavour, well executed and delicious. We could have been in a top restaurant in Rome. We will certainly be back!!

Completely different to just a year ago when both the food and service were great. Unfortunately, the food has now deteriorated to the extent that it overshadowed the good service, making the experience so ordinary that we will never return. There. Are many other restaurants that are consistently good. No need to waste a visit here!
