Jackson and Black Steakhouse. Excellent value. 400g Steak Bone in and South American Fillet. Chips and Onions were excellent. After studying the menu the decision was a difficult one. Good service. Comfortable seats. Best venue we have been to. You will see us again.

A disappointing meal. The promise of coal grilled steaks drew us to this restaurant. Unfortunately our order of rare steaks arrived on sizzling hot skillets and as feared were woefully overcooked. The refire arrived on the wrong side of rare (cold, unseasonetd and barely grilled)....We won't returnMore

Waiter asked how I would like the pattie to be done and I ordered medium rare. The burger that was served was beyond well-done and the bacon burnt. All in all a tasteless burger

We have been to this Restaurant on a few occasions (alone & with friends) & have always been happy with the food. It is quite expensive but they do have specials on most days of the week & their steak night is very good. We...have always found the staff polite & helpful so, we both agree, we'll certainly be back again.More

The vibe inside the restaurant is good, but we waited 10 min before a waiter assisted us with drinks. The rib-eye steak I ordered was tough and full of sinews. After bringing this under the waiters attention, the manager came to the table, he didn't...want to insult me but still told me in little words I am eating my steak wrong and you cannot eat it rare. According to him the steak must be done Medium-Well to well-done. If so, why didn't this Prime steakhouse's waiter not inform me of this. Bear in mind this is not a cheap restaurant. It is more expensive then Cattle Baron and Hussar Grill. When walking out the manager turned his back to us and not even greet. I thought by myself that I shall return but not order this steak again, but after the manager insulting me, I shall not return. (My colleagues had the lamb tjops that was over done and the pork neck that was dry)More

I love it when a great steak does not pretend to be anything other than a really great steak, no frills, no plate fillers, just a really great steak! Well done guys, my first visit and definitely won’t be my last. I’m not going to...comment on service etc, as i’ve only been here once and can’t judge on just one visit. But if you keep up that great unpretentious quality beef, you’ll be pulling them in for years to come.More

This was the first time we visited this restaurant. Love the ambiance of the restaurant. Nice and cosy with beautiful interior. The food was very good. Most of us ordered steaks and ribs. I had the braaibroodjie as a side order and it was so...good - very filling. The ribs were so tasty with the meat falling from the bone. The dessert portions were a nice size and very enjoyable as well. We will definitely come back again. A bonus was no corkage fee so you can bring your own wine.More

As I met friends here for the "Monday Special", I am not really qualified to hold forth on their menu per se. The special is half price burgers, Anyway, I was surprised by the look of the venue: it is modern and attractive and more..."upmarket" than I had imagined. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, our waiter was excellent and the manager (Ruan) was also very nice. OK, so what about the grub? All I can say is that the burger was good and was served with chips and onion rings. Ruan then suggested their creme brullee, which was delicious and unbelievably inexpensive. Plus there is no corkage. We all left in a very jolly mood.More

I usually will not rave. But Jackson and Black is a newcomer on the scene in Tygervalley. And they are good. The venue is well designed and the decor is thoughtful and fresh, with a touch of old mixed in. Parking is adequate and washrooms...modern and clean. J & B specializes in meat and I must agree that they are very good at it. J & B uses a real charcoal grill and consequently the meat will have a distinct BBQ flavor. But even more importantly. The waiting staff is extremely well trained and it is a pleasure to be served by any of them. I also like that the duty manager is visible and will stop at your table for a few words. I have had several meetings there during the lunch hour and each time the parking area was full and the restaurant packed with patrons. Great minds think alike? My last meal was one of the specials of the day- 200 sirloin served with fries and onion rings. The doneness was perfect as ordered and the fries crispy and outstanding. So far my meals were great and I will definitely be back to try some of the other items on their extensive menu.More

Visited the establishment on 2 occasions. Impressed with interior, decor and general vibe. Not necessarily the place one can frequent often as it is quite pricey. Dishes that are served however are of superior quality. Will definitely return. Steak is of high quality and prepared...as requested.More
