Visited for lunch. Small but good menu items available. Apart from Chinese also has a selection of Thai meals and of course its long conveyor belt of sushi.
Watched as a number of diners returned again a Nd again to sushi belt. Must have been good as some tables had in excess of 12 containers stacked.
Explained to server that we would be sharing a few dishes and were advised Portions were quite large. Despite saying we were sharing dishes I was amazed to have the food delivered on 2 plates and had to ask for plates so we could dish up the meal between us. These arrived but no spoons to dish up with. Manager arrived to see how we were enjoying meal and when I started to explain that it would be better to serve the food in bowls so we could help ourselves he disappeared and sent over a spoon with a server. Nobody seemed interested in listening.
Food was very tasty. The portion of veg fried rice was large and 4 could share it. It was very different to what we have had overseas and was quite mushy.
I would really prefer to have the food served in bowls so one can buy various items for the table and then share them than have 1 largelate placed in front of me.

wanted to treat my husband for his birthday. Salm was smelly when took from belt. Then suddenly no salm on belt. Food were so little variety that we left there still hungry. We had a bill of R1200 but was definetly not worth it. I am so dissapointed. What was suppose to be a happy birthday was not happy. Dont know if i will ever go back and wont recommend it either. What a dissapointment. Stay away

Food average, but they seem as if they’re not able to replace their disgusting chairs. This is the first thing you see when walking into the restaurant.

Friendly and helpful servers that make you feel welcome, I sat at the conveyer belt having sushi with my friends and the sushi was good, I personally ordered sushi pieces from the waitress so they would be a little more fresh - (although the sushi at the conveyer belt is also fresh, I personally prefer to order it fresh) I happily ate my sushi I ordered that night aswell as taking a few plates off the belt. I would highly recommend Asamis Tygervalley, you get such great value for your money. My only criticism would be perhaps the servers could check up on the customers a bit more regularly, for those who do want to place a order or could be thirsty ect- (however since I was sitting at the conveyer belt I wouldn't know how they are with people sitting at tables, could be different)
I highly highly recommend đź‘Ť

I was so disappointed. Firstly when I arrived nobody had cleaned up from any of the previously diners. There were used chopsticks, plates and drink cans along dirty counters and they have really long conveyor belt. It honestly felt dirty and unhygienic. The sushi on the conveyor belt was just unappealing. It looks like blobs and most was unrecognisable. Evidently the standards in this part of town are different and the expectations on sushi are really low. I don't recommend. Please don't waste your time. I eventually left to go the the ocean basket next door as I figured out that there was nothing there for me. The waitron at the Ocean basket did confirm that ordering a fresh sushi platter from them was okay but NOT to touch the coloured plates as they really had been out there all day. Management really needs to look into this.

Went here for a meal with the mrs , ordered coffees prior to meal , drinks arrived with broken bases and were full of oily finger marks. Paid for the coffee and left. Were not even questioned as to why we left , clearly this establishment does not need our business

The food is not of a very high quality. That conveyor belt is dodgy because there is very little actual sushi on it. Mostly fried balls and unrecognizable items. The glass I drank from was dirty. There is a bad smell coming from the area closest to the kitchen. It was so bad we had to move to another spot. I don't know why I remained to order food. That should have been a warning sign to me. But we came for sushi... I love pork dumplings. My daughter ordered pork dumplings and she had me try one. It was so bad that I had to spit it out. The bill was high for such poor quality sushi. We had such a disappointing experience. Yuck is all I can say. What a waste of money. The only saving grace was the kindness of the staff.

Weve been wanting to try out Asamis Tygervalley for the longest time and finally went last night. Oh my goodness... I've not received such bad terrible service in a long time. Especially since it is Covid and struggling restuarants should be making a good impression! Clearly they do not care. The service is disgusting.. We seated ourselves and after waiting for 20 minutes for someone to assist nobody arrived. We eventually got someone's attention and they called another waiter that completely ignored us. When I looked where all the waitors were they were at the back huddled in a corner laughing and chatting. It was a Sunday evening so there were such few customers. We just got up and left. I couldn't believe that you still get such pathetic service in this day and age. We ended up going to Tyger waterfront for sushi Asian- Asia and wow what wonderful sushi and excellent prompt service. I haven't gotten as far as eating their sushi but based on the service I will never go to Asamis again or recommend it to anybody else!

Will never visit or refer again. Food was not good. Tempura prawns was fried till dark brown. Looked like thin fingers. Chicken sweetcorn soup had a funny acid taste and very sweet. Overpriced and also smelled funny at the seating area.

This was the third time I had a terrible experience at Asami's. Twice at this branch and once in Stellenbosch. The sushi rice was tasteless and bitter. You could also see and taste that nothing on the belt was fresh. Asami's will never see me again.

When we arrived for dinner, many of the dishes on the belt looked like they’d been standing all day. This was clearly evident in the dry-texture and lack of flavour in many of the dishes we took from the belt.
The chicken spring rolls that we ordered from the kitchen came out hot, but contained pieces of raw, undercooked chicken. We sent it back to the kitchen and lost our appetite after that.
The waiter didn’t apologise, nor could he provide a reason for the raw chicken. He simply said that he would “talk to the chef”.
The service at the restaurant wasn’t bad, but needless to say, a restaurant that is willing to serve raw chicken, and risk the health of their guests, shouldn’t receive any stars at all.
It is safe to say that we won’t be returning. There are many other good sushi places in the vicinity.

Absolutely appalled by this establishment! Still waiting for food to be delivered via the Bolt Food App. Ordered food at 18h11. Still waiting! Extremely unacceptable! When we phoned the Restaurant, we were told it's them and not Bolt or the Courier! How can you take more than two hours to prepare our food order??? I will never support your restaurant ever again and I will definitely NOT recommend you to any family or friends!

Waited 50 minutes for a takeaway. Proceeded to sit at the belt to feed the hungry child in the meantime. They said, no need to pay, but then changed their minds after & made me pay anyway. Shockingly terrible service.

We recently visited this establishment for an early sushi buffet dinner and were pleasantly surprised with this venue.
Located on the top floor of Tygervalley Mall, this is a spacious restaurant with plenty of seated tables, as well as a very impressive conveyor belt that allows for enough space for plenty of people to sit around.
On arrival, we were greeted by friendly staff who showed us to our table and then we were smoothly handed over to the designated Floor Server that would be looking after us for this dinner. Having never experienced the conveyor belt before and in not knowing how it works, both the Waitron and the over-the-counter Sushi Chef were happy to explain the process, guided us through the menu, and as we enjoyed the options available to us the Sushi Chef happily kept his eyes on us and explained all the dishes that we were not sure about.
We were so excited with the array of different dishes provided compared to other sushi outlets that we completely forgot to order off the menu (as some items are only available by ordering due to demand - AND the menu items are also part of the buffet) and can definitely advise to perhaps place your order for something you want to try before you get lost in the conveyor belt. They have Dragon Rolls and Eel, as well as other selections we had never heard about before. This was one thing we had been told about ASAMI'S prior to visiting, but honestly - your options really are limitless.
The quality and portion sizes were generous, ensuring you needed a wheelbarrow to roll you out!
We started our dinner buffet around 17h00, which was a good time for us, but can advise that this restaurant soon filled up with the late evening diners, families, business team buildings, and couples.
This was a great, happy and filling experience and also one that had quality food available with the freshest fish that other restaurants sometimes lack.
