Went there for the 2nd time and decided to give them a chance. The fried chips are the worst I've ever tasted. If they cannot not make slaptjips then I'm scared to even tastes their other food. Make sure you carry your own snacks and...drinks as the prices at the kiosk are ridiculously high. I arrived at the till to be told a small bottle of Coke is R35!!! Sorry but a big thumbs down from me hopefully they can do better as they are they only place to enjoy a meal in the park. 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽More

Tables next to the waterhole so you can have your early morning breakfast and add to your bird count for the day all at once. A curious Gnu dashed in and out too.

What a pity that such a great place went to waste. We visited the Pilanesberg Park since 1993 and for the very first time this year experienced terrible infrastructure and no game. It seems that no maintenance are being done and the entry gates are...so filthy covered with a lot of rubbish. What a shame?More

Unfortunately, the entire centre seems to have lost t's shine. We went into the shop to buy some cold drinks and snacks for the car and only once we put all our purchases down on the counter, were we told that their card machine was...out of order and they were only taking cash. A whole lot of sales were lost that day because we were not the only people complaining about it in the parking lot! Such a pity because Pilanesberg used to be a shining light for Johannesburg-based travellers to do some incredible game viewing...More

The center is an obvious and very pleasant bush drive stop-over for a cool refreshment, a meal, or replenishments from the little shop, with lots of bird life and frequent wildlife posing for the cameras. This past week, we found that they had a generator...running whenever we got there, plus they were off line on 29 Jan and unable to take non-cash payments, seriously impacting revenue. Menu is quite limited since Covid, and apparently they are still running on 50% staff. What light meals we ate were tasty and the coffee was good. Toilets were clean, and the shop keeps most basics. Staff could be a little more enthusiastic and customer centric - after all without customers, the center would not survive? Perhaps worn out emotionally, as most of us are? Good luck Pilansberg Center.More

Give this restaurant a miss. The service is poor and unwelcoming. Although the chips were excellent everything else was unremarkable or bad. Prego roll served on very stale rolls. Tables not clean. Only the outlook over the park recommends this venue.

The centre seems to have deteriorated since our last visit. The curio shop is sparsely stocked and the centre is just lacking the vibe it used to have.

With COVID restrictions in place for the past 17 months and Gauteng having been in complete lockdown for interprovincial travel until very recently, we were thrilled when entering the Pilansberg Park to see a banner that the restaurant in the centre of the park was...open again. We were staying at one of the timeshare resorts in the park and did a day drive on our own through the park on one day, stopping at the Pilansberg Centre for lunch. It is a very special location in the park as the game rangers put out salt licks for the animals which mean they come very close to the edge of the restaurant and there are many photos on this site of the situation. The restaurant is just restarting, and is run from the shop that is part of the complex. It only at present serves a limited range of choices, namely burgers, prego rolls, toasted sandwiches and chips. You order and pay for your choice at the shop cashier and then take your receipt to the kitchen where the food is prepared to order. You wait at your table and are called when the food is ready. I spoke to the cashier and said how pleased we were to see them back in operation after the long shutdown. He told me that they had only been open for about a week and were slowly bringing back services. They intended getting back waiters soon so that meals could be served at the table. This progress all depends on the relaxation of restrictions due to COVID.More

Lovely breakaway at one of the lodges. The park’s scenery is amazing, and even with few sightings, you’ll still be attracted to the hills and plains.

The woman should learn to talk to the staff there she does not threat them well she shouts at them infront of the customers what kind of a manager does that. We all can see that she is in charge there she doesnt hae to...show off. The workers there work everywhere one minute she is cleaning the bathrooms the next the is at the cashier. The staff there are human they do get tired they should get other people to help and create jobs instead of abusing othersMore

On our first day we day we visited the pilanesberg centre with our own lunch, as we knew the restaurant is closed. Quickly found out in a rude way that our own food wasn’t allowed......your only choice is a ‘tannie and oompie’ selling boerewors rolls....And you would think supporting them would be nice...only to encounter a very rude lady. Next day we only stopped for drinks, and now the tannie, oompie and daughter is in charge of the poorly stocked shop as well. No signs that your not allowed to buy alcohol, you only find out at the till, again in a very rude way. We asked why aren’t the fridges with alcohol locked? Only to be told we should know and she said it’s to much effort to lock the fridges every day and if we don’t read the signa it’s not her problem. Why does Pilanesberg have people like that in charge?? Tourists visit every day and these people have no people skills!!! Won’t support the centre until change of management .More

We stayed at the Black Rhino Reserve and had planned to self drive within Pilanesberg during checkout. We debated carrying a packed meal for lunch, but were told by our lodge and confirmed on the Pilanesberg Park website that the restaurant would be open and...serving lunch and did not need reservations. Imagine our surprise when we turned up and found that it was closed. We were walking around trying to find an entry point, when we encountered one of the managers of the Zebra Crossing who said that their permission had been suddenly revoked, licence withdrawn and they had been forced to close. They were in the process of vacating the premises. She kindly let us in through a service entry, so we could use the washrooms and we had fortunately carried some snacks and chilled water for our trip. But it was still disappointing to not be able to have a hot meal and is quite a shock for anyone unprepared especially if you have kids or older folks counting on a fresh meal.More

Used to be great to take tourists there for breakfast, morning tea, lunches. Now benches are stacked away, no meals just a "tannie" selling boerie rolls and hot dogs over weekends. Center closed during the week. Why can't the Pilanesburg resorts i.e. Legacy, Black Rhino,...Ivory Tree, etc join forces to give us something similar - fully fledged restaurant. The convenience store is a waste of time and overpriced - turn it into a feature again, please.More
