First time at a John Dorys and thought it was pretty good. Limited options to eat in St. Lucia, everything is on McKenzie St and as this restaurant was the busiest which is always a good sign,opted to eat here.
Seated straight away , a greek salad to start was fresh although lacking in cucumber, the buffalo prawns were meaty and the sauce not too overpowering, all very tasty.
King klip main was fresh, perfectly cooked and delicious , the fries were crispy and light, the coleslaw a little tart but the accompanying sauce light and flavorsome.
Service through the meal was spot on, bill came when requested along with the card machine, a very good first experience at JD. Total including a bottle of wine came to a reasonable R553 , chilled tap water no charge. An enjoyable meal.

The beer was ice cold, and fresh, but the cocktails were pretty bad. We sent the cocktails back and the manager apologised and explained that they were indeed "instant packet-mix" cocktails. He removed the cocktails off our bill.
Staff were friendly, with fast service as they werent very busy being a Sunday evening.
There were some cost-effective deals going on selected dishes like seafood platters, prawns etc, but alas, the food was average. Not the worst but far from anything great.
We won't be rushing back though.

This restuarant had great service, and we had the "catch of the day" which was swordfish...it was delicious and the portions were huge!
I would say my only disappointment was the Happy Hour....they advertise a happy hour but once you get inside it's only mocktails, one kind of wine, and draught beer (which they don't have). Probably one of the most disappointing happy hours I've ever seen.
That being said, the beer (at full price) was cold and the meals we had were good.

The food and service at this John Dory Restaurant exceeded that which we have experienced at other branches. The sushi was superb, as was the sole platter with prawns and mussels. The location is excellent (about 50m from where we were staying) and the outdoor seating is light and airy.

We wanted to eat fresh fish, however fish was definitely not fresh… two of us ordered the same fish but got completely different tasting and looking food (catch of the day). Captains plate was drenched in frying oil and one of the dishes came very late with the explanation that they were preparing a table for 16p first… pokebowl was okay.
We left feeling nauseous, would never go back.
Horrible food.

I visited this terrible place in December 2022 after a long day on safari. We ordered the calamari main and received 6 tiny bits of calamari and 3 table spoons of rice and was told that this was the main. They charged my family R139 per plate. Please see the photo attached. I have been struggling with the restaurant to get a refund after customer service confirmed that my family and I was not given main meals despite me paying for it. Its been 3 months since I reached out to customer care and and still no response. Absolutely terrible service from the restaurant and customer care.

Yes it is a chain restaurant but the quality is always good. Our group had ice cold beers and ate a Lover's Seafood Platter, Grilled Sole and a Double Hake and Calamari. Quick, efficient and tasty.

We live in Ballito with numerous options for Sushi so we’re blown away by the Sushi at John Dory’s in St Lucia as we really were not expecting it. The staff were professional and super quick. We followed the Sushi up with grilled fish and prawns which were also 5 star delicious. The manager of the restaurant Brad was attentive and really helpful from the time we arrived. All in all a fantastic experience and I can’t recommend enough.

I had dinner here twice during my week long stay in St Lucia. Both times their sushi was top notch, especially being a vegetarian, I felt that they had quite a few options.
The service was really quick and Nomvula, who served us both time was wonderful and very friendly. She always served us with a beautiful smile. If you're in the town and want a reasonably priced place for food, get yourself here, you won't be disappointed!

If you are looking for a loud, noisy place then go here. The food was not bad, I have to admit, but it was crazy with lots of families and screaming children. I guess don't go there on Wednesday when the sushi is half price (not all sushi, just a separate menu), this is probably why it is so packed. I waited for my poke bowl for almost one hour while the rest of the family had already finished their sushi. Staff was very attentive though. Perhaps better on other nights.

Really enjoyed the food and service. Having never been to a chain restaurant I was pleasantly surprised not only by the excellent service but also quality of food. We had a family of 7 and all really enjoyed the experience. The prawns in JD sauce are amazing, thanks the manager who welcomed us with a laugh and a smile and our waiter Dion who made the experience great.

We were looking for a place for a large company of 15 people. It is impossible to reserve tables in the restaurant, so the fact that we gradually arrived for dinner played a good role - we grabbed the vacant tables))
Sushi and rolls are especially popular, so we had to wait a long time for them because the sushi master was busy.
Everything was tasty and I liked it, although the oysters were a B grade.
Ideally, it is better to place an order with a European owner (maybe an administrator), then the order will be delivered faster))
But since there are a lot of guests and the restaurant is packed for dinner, it is quite noisy.

Having had 2 excellent meals on our first visit visited 2 days later to have a disappointing experience with over cooked prawns and a sauce that was automatically added without consultation.
Having given feedback decided to revisit again and were treated very well by the waiting staff . Our dishes were much improved so overall we were happy.

It was a big surprise when I enter John Dory’s in St Lucia
The table was perfect decorated.

We had a friendly waiter and food was high quality. Fresh fish and chicken dishes are also divine. Add the nice touch of a bowl of popcorn while you wait for your meal, and you have a winner. Lovely place to dine.
