We had lunch of Tapas in a very relaxed and luxurious environment. The food was absolutely fabulous. We had the mussels which were absolutely sublime. Could have had even more, but we had pork belly which was superb as well. In sdiition we had the barley risotto, real luxury taste and a mozzarella and tomatoe salad as a little bit of freshness. If you are looking for a large menu with anything from pizzas to hamburgers and beyond this is not the place for you. Kids 12 and under are not allowed - some may find this upsetting but when you get there you will understand. The tranquility and luxe is just not conducive to noisy kids (sorry). Neither is the environment in terms of safety. It’s absolutely suited to adults with a yen for fine food and peace.

Freshly arrived in Hazyview after 10 days in Kruger, we had our lunch in the River Café. Very nice ambience along the Sabie River. Food was excellent; we enjoyed first looking at the dishes before enjoying the taste. To make it perfect, we finished with tasting the locally made GIN. PERFECT.

Unique location, lovely breakfasts, great service. We always enjoy breakfast at the River Cafe, unfortunately not open for lunch or dinner.

The River Cafe is beautifully appointed with stunning views along the Sabie River. It’s definitely the nicest decorated and located restaurant in Hazyview.
The staff are lovely and super helpful but unfortunately that’s where the complements stop.
The pizza base was(I think) unleavened and nothing like what a pizza base should be.
If you are going to server your customers a pizza base that is more like a biscuit than a pizza deliberately then you should warn them.
My wife and I were super disappointed and the pizza was horrible.
We had the Raka Rose which was delicious and when we asked if they serve dessert we were told that we should buy it from the shop on the premises at the top of the hill ( on the property a couple of klms away)
The restaurant food could be soooo much better, please learn to make a pizza base somewhere close to properly
It really was bad 🤡👎

This was our second visit to this delightful restaurant on the banks of the Sabi River. We had lunch there the time before which was excellent. Breakfast today was very disappointing. After a lengthy wait the food arrived. My husband ordered the eggs benedictine with soft poached eggs and they arrived hard. The rest was dry. My cheese omelette which I asked them to please make it moist was dry. No toast served with our breakfast.Told the waitress a out my omelette) being dry and her reply was "thank you"!

We have previously had great dinners at Summerfields. Also a great place to have a spa experience which we had yesterday. However very disappointed to hear that they only serve resident guests dinner. You can order breakfast or lunch if you have a spa treatment. Pity this wasn't explained to us yesterday.

Amazing world class venue.
Menu limited (pizza/burgers/wraps/choice of 3 salads/fish n chips)
No starters
No deserts
Paid R900 deposit to book the table which was both dirty and without napkins: knives and forks flung haphazardly in place.
Manager - spent his time slummed over the bar counter on his phone, together with his staff
Service - sweet but we spent a fair bit of time getting up to find them for various things from more drinks to deserts and table clearing . Only to find out there were no desserts... seriously?
Food - very good but for the price? Fish and chips for R140 should have something a little more extra ordinary ... which I suppose explains the venue.
Venue- world class. Sad to say your support staff and management are letting your efforts down. Badly ....

Weekends only! This great restaurant is situated in a great setting, with great food. But now only operates on weekends. Sorry I missed out.

It's been a while since I've been up in the area and was very happy to have found Summerfields and their Bar and Restaurant as they have created something very unique and special on the banks of the Sabie River.
We tried for a few days to do a Gin tasting or even a tour (min 4 people) but never seemed to be able to get the timing right. We settled instead for cocktails on the river for sundowners one day and then lunch at the restaurant on another.
The farm's ethos is from "Farm to table" and that is evident in everything they do. The macadamias are available in the homemade basil pesto and macadamia oil (purchase at the farm shop), the litchis are notably the star behind the "Dukes Gin" which is distilled on the premises. All the vegetables and herbs are also grown on the farm. The menu, ingredients and wine selection is really quite good and offers a wide array of truly delectable dishes.
Overall Summerfields offer a great experience for those looking for a little hidden gem in the Sabie Valley. Pop in and have a few cocktails or stay a bit longer and experience the food and rich story behind the farm.

Start your evening with one of Summerfields a gorgeous Duke’s Litchi Gin sitting at the open air bar on a dam with the mountains as your backdrop. Unfortunately the only small issue is that the gin bar is only open from 4 to 6. We got there at 6 not knowing this but the wonderful Bartender Charles stayed open for us.
From there we moved down to the restaurant which is now housed in this stunning glasshouse. It was really awesome sitting there with all the doors open as it had started to rain and this soon developed into a massive thunderstorm ( we eventually had to close the doors)
The menu is small and changes according to what’s available ( most of the herbs and veg are grown in their garden) For starters we shared Beef carpaccio with Parmesan, baby herbs and olive oil - the carpaccio was delish. I had braised Pork Belly with caramelized onion polenta, roasted beetroot and white cabbage with mustard cream- loved everything on my plate.
My Husband had the Exotic Curry with vegetables and massive prawns. He was a tad disappointed as he was expecting a normal curry whilst this was a Thai style curry and he found the rice a bit wet with all the curry sauce by the time it got to the table. In saying this the flavor was awesome!
For dessert we both had the Rose parfait with macadamia ice cream, rose meringue shards and granola. As I had become hooked on their ice cream already, there was no other choice for me and this combination was sublime.
The service all round was outstanding and it’s just such a stunning place to sit and have either breakfast or lunch on the deck or dinner.

Me and my wife went here twice over the same weekend. First we went for dinner and it was so great that we booked for lunch the day after as well. Food and wine was great. The service was good as well.
The ambiance and surroundings are fantastic, we had a great time and would definitely come back.
During the lunch visit we also had a great gin tasting of the gin that is made locally at the farm out of litchi fruits.

This restaurant is situated beautifully along the Sabi River.
The food & service is good, could be great but definitely worth a try! Delicious farm fresh vegetables & salad.

We had lunch here and thoroughly enjoyed the food and the beautiful location. The service was a bit slow considering the Restaurant was not at all busy and we felt we had to wait rather a long time for our ice cream desserts and then to settle our bill, but we will visit again.

This was the best meal we had in South Africa. Stunning! I don’t want to write too much to spoil your experience. You have to trust the reviews and not miss this place. And be sure to try their gin!
