We heard about the amazing cheesecake so thought we'd give it a try. It's everything they say! So, why only 2 stars? Well, we were on our way to a picnic at Jubilee Creek and so bought some muffins from the cafe. They were so stale they were inedible. If they'd been baked a few days earlier, then in my... More

Good day Thank you for your review. I would like to comment on the muffins you bought. If it were the muffins with the raisins, I can understand your disappointment. They should be labeled 'Rock Cakes', as they are harder and denser than your normal soft spongy muffin. I have tried to load pics to show you my purchase invoices... More

I cannot be in the Garden Route and not make a visit to this Café. They really have the best Belgium Chocolate Cheesecake ever. Think I would be able to eat the entire cake if I had the opportunity. Service can be described as laid-back, but hey! you are in the countryside. So relax, drink a cup of coffee/tea; the... More

We had breakfast at Hoekwil Country Cafe. It has a relaxed atmosphere and is situated next to a school. Good value for money meals and coffee. A good place to experience the atmosphere of the community.

We stayed in the area and decided to stop and have breakfast and try their "famous" cheesecake before going to bungy jump. The breakfast was pretty standard and the eggs were not prepared the way we asked for them twice over and the toast was hard/dry. The tramazines were better. We waited quite a while for breakfast and so decided... More

Go there to try cheesecake with a cup of coffee. It is well worth it. It is also ideal for a light lunch.

After reading all the positives on facebook about this cafe we decided to pop in for the famous cheesecake, and after waiting quite a while to be served (this was in the middle of the week, with few patrons) we were told that they did not have what we wanted and therefore had to have the plain cheesecake. Really was... More

Not overrated. So rich and smooth! Grap the morning paper and a coffee - you can't rush it. Area for the kids to play too.

Description
A delightful little coffee shop tucked away on the top of the hill called Hoekwil, near Wilderness. It is a locally hidden gem which most people never find or find by chance. It's only a 5 Minute drive from N2, near Wilderness. It is a mix between a little local convenience store and a Coffee shop cafe. They serve the best voted cheesecake in SA (voted by Eat In). Three delicious flavours to choose from, being Lemon, Belgian chocolate and the best selling Blueberry flavour. The carrot cake is also a local favourite. You should not be disappointed. What is a good cake without a good coffee? They also make great Coffees, cappuccino s, Lattes and Mocha's. Coffee beans are freshly ground while you watch or wait. Also available is a selection of teas. On the menu is a selection of breakfasts, Omelettes and toasted sandwiches. Takeaway drinks and food available. Locally produced vegetables, honeys and farm stall type eats also for sale. On cold days there is a cosy fireplace inside. On hot days it's a must to relax on the deck and watch country life go by with great mountain views. Kids are entertained on the swings and see-saw. From here you can visit our local Big Tree (over 800 years old) or take a hike on the many walks available. The old 7 Passes road also runs past, which used to be the main route linking George and Knysna
