A “local” pub with a great vibe. Noisy and busy. A good spot to people watch and to meet the local crowd. Friendly staff, good service, cold beer, and value for money. Nice selection of beer on tap and pub menu with a good variety....The food was very tasty, well presented, and very affordable. All Covid protocols were followed – temperature and sanitizing on arrival.More

A family member recommended us having lunch here......and we went along with it.....what a mistake.........we lost about 90 minutes of our lives in there that we will never get back!!!!!. Limited menu......in the end just chose fish and chips.....which was full of bones......,we were constantly...being jostled by "half cut" group at the next table constantly wanting to move in and out.......and begging for some of our chips as they passed. We couldn't wait to leave...... The George probably has it's place........if you just want to go out and get off your face........but to be honest.....even THEN.....iw ould give it a wide birth.....More

Popular local with plenty of sport on TV. They go big on the idea of fresh tank beer but the ones we had were very ordinary and judging by the metallic taste not very fresh. Okayish bar but most nights we left after just one...drink. There are only so many braying yahoos mullahed on beer and shots that one can take for any length of time.More

It is usually crowded and noisy. But which pub isn’t. Staff are friendly and helpful. They have drink specials every now and then. Great place to bump into old friends too.

I went for a beer to The George the other day, as I fancied a change from the Steak and Ale across the road, plus I hadn't been there in years, so wanted to see how it is now. There used to be a time...when I could walk in and know everyone, but times have changed, and so have I, so I was pleased to see some of the new additions to the pub which I hadn't seen before, like the craft brewery installation inside the main door to the right, and some improvements to the whole bar area in general. I had a draught Hansa, which at 29 Rand was slightly more expensive than across the road, but the staff were attentive, and because it was a rainy evening it was quieter than usual and I got a seat at the bar. I managed to have a great chat with the guy sitting next to me, which led to me having a second beer (!), and just being there brought back great memories of happy times past. With its multiple large flat screen TVs, and outdoor sitting area, it's no wonder the place is still super popular especially during sporting events like the Rugby World Cup where I've seen it packed to the seams.More

Great meeting place for the locals and visitors alike. Very popular, and the nearest bar we found that had a British feel to it. Very good bar food, excellent beers with sky sports on TV.
